You can't request to leave a covenant if you have sin, I think, that's probably the biggest downside, since you will keep accumulating sin and covenant betrayals if you want to keep switching covenants.

holy shit i just invaded someone, killed him, and got 880k souls. i'm only level 50, i think he was max level lol
edit2: LOL...i just killed him again. thanks for the souls brah You must be really lucky... I'm lvl 40 and in the forest covenant, I get matched against people who are probably on new game+ and I don't stand a chance... while my weapon does great damage, they can just continously attack without running out of stamina while my shield takes a massive beating, while giving me bleed etc, there's just no way. I will try to go Dark Wraith on lvl 50 or so (should get me to 40 dex and a tiny bit more hp and end) and see if I have better luck, but damn, I'm starting to wonder if it's even worth PVPing before lvl 120 (where I will have 40 vit, end and dex).

i use a +4 chaos iaito + bloodshield and +5 lightning ricards rapier on switch when i need to block + attack, works pretty well. also all +5 dark armor, its not that good but i like the RP aspect.
also - since i'm only 50, is that why i'm never invaded here in oolacile township? since i'm too low? have 2m souls saved up

You can PvP at any level well if you have upgraded your weapons and armour. I think the Forest cov makes you invade versus any level so I would assume these guys can be higher and most likely have fully upgraded gear.
I think for the Oolacile place most people end up there at higher levels because they probably go through Duke's and everything. I know the first time I went there I was ~80.

Oh god, I finally killed Smough and Ornstein. I haven't felt satisfaction like this, from a game, in ages. Fuck yes.

Personally, my only real goal was to play a dex build and I had no intentions to PvP when I started, so atm I'm a pyromancer with a +10 uchigatana, about 15 vit and end, with 30+ dex. Obviously, I will go for +15 on my uchigatana before invading, which together with my dex should make my damage really good, but yeah, my vit and end might just be too low at that point. My shield is a dark knight shield which I have not upgraded yet.
And yeah, I think it will be pretty rare for invaders to be just lvl 50 at that point, and they can only invade you if they are lvl 55 or below.

man being a darkwraith...it's insanely fun but i feel like a giant asshole at the same time lol

Can anyone else not log into GFWL? Always fails in the game, works in the windows client..

Well, I personally have this really weird issue where when I start Dark Souls, it asks me to log into GFWL. I pick sign in, press the button, wait while it works, and get an error message saying my network might be down. I ignore that shit, press sign in one more time and BOOM, it works. Every single goddamn time, I have to sign in two times and I ALWAYS get the same ridiculous error the first time.
tl;dr: GFWL is fucking shit.

Nah, tried it. Never had problems with it, all of a sudden now it doesn't work. WTH?

The game works fine, we just can't use online stuff.

HI everyone!
Has anyone played it with Keyboard and mouse managing to have fun? I wonder if it's actually playable at a decent level without controller!
Regards,

Regards,
I tried it a little bit and I don't really see a problem. The only issue is that mouse acceleration is WAY too high, so it's hard to control the camera, but I would imagine you could fix that with a mouse allowing you to change sensitivity on the mouse, or just a thirdparty program to lower it.
Really though, buy a 360 controller. There are TONS of games on PC which feel way better when played with a 360 controller, it's not expensive, and it works REALLY well.

Regards,
I find the keyboard fine. You just have to get use the controls and from there, you're free to pwn whatever mobs you can find :D..

Regards,
I played roughly 100 hours on keyboard with mouse. I didn't see a problem. Like others have mentioned about mouse acceleration, just turn it down to 0 in game then you will be fine. There is a problem with lock on targets using keyboard and mouse. If you have 2-3 enemies in front of you or surrounding you, your camera will just cycle through them over and over and makes it impossible to fight. In that case, just back off and turn off target lock, kill 1 at time.

fuuuu i'm so lost on what type of character to make. i know i want to use the paladin armor set, bloodshield, and be a sunbro for my next character. but idk what i want to do....i love the iaito (huge rurouni kenshin fan and i love the 'heavy' attack lol) and it's just an all around badass sword. might go for the washing pole i'm not sure, but idk if i want to use miracles or not, and i want a nice weapon to switch to and i was thinking of maybe going zweihander. i've seriously been going over builds for hours >.> lol
|
You can do what I do and use miracles as a kind of backup. For instance, you can leave faith at 30 and unlock both weapon buffs (pretty sweet idea if you want to use a fast weapon like Iaito/Washing) as they both add a lot of damage. You'll also be able to use WotG.
I usually start my duels with some bow harass and usually what happens is they just keep wanting to charge me. At some point I'll switch to Ricard's and blast out a WotG because they're just gonna be running at me and then I back them off a bit more with an Emit Force to produce enough space so I can enchant my blade with Sunlit blade.

You can abandon covenant at any time no matter what, even if you have sinned. Abandoning covenants by joining other covenants and not using abandon covenant is supposed to give you sin, but it didn't for some reason when I did it on this playthrough, so maybe they changed it.
