Hahaha he did that rush and gay-ass attack on me the very first time, I was "What the...". Couldn't even make one swing : D which sucks since I've got quite some stuff but eh. It's not a boss for shizzle.
Nonetheless I didn't attempt to kill him again right now but i'm preparing myself to face him again, mentally.

To the both of you: Don't try to block him or even fight him early on, it's no use, you have to be a god to be able to pull that off. Just calm yourself, walk into the fog, then rush like a madman as soon as is humanely possible towards the left backside of the room where the staircase is. Rush, jump, roll, whatever, just get there as soon as is humanly possible without getting hit. If you get up on that staircase, chances are you will beat him on your first try because the dogs will follow you up and you can easily kill them, then you can just do jump attacks constantly on capra.
The fight is basically extremely easy, only extremely cheap (worst boss in the game IMO). It's more or less decided in the first 5 seconds.

What I did was, when I first entered the room I knew I had to kill the dogs first, so I got them both with a jump attack. I also got hit by the Capra Demon. So I rushed to the stairs and waited for him to come up, then I rolled off the edge on to the lower ground and healed, it was very simple after that. If I ever got hit, I would just go up the stairs and roll off the edge because he would be stuck there for a while.

So whats the deal with Pinwheel? Is he supposed to be a joke boss or something?

I would assume he becomes far harder on newgame+++ but yeah, on first run through, he's definitely a joke... assuming your weapon is good enough, you'll probably kill him before he even moves.

For those having trouble with Capra: + Show Spoiler +I've always run up the stairs and chilled on the small balcony thing up there (turn right at the top of the stairs), tucked far into the corner. Capra will still be able to jump attack at you from the stairs, but a block takes care of it and he falls again, giving you time to breathe and, more importantly, poke the dogs since they'll also come get you. Take care of the dogs from that spot, being careful to block Capra's big lunge attacks from time to time, and then after the dogs are down, use this same spot and strategy to land a falling strike(s) on his head after he keeps dropping to the lower level. Every time I stand in that spot, Capra has not been able to attack me consistently, i.e. without falling off.

What you need is Sifs soul and a +10 sword and then you can forge it at the blacksmith in Anor Londo. Needs 24 str, 18 dex, 18 int, 18 faith and kills ghosts with 1 to 2 strikes.
So? That's the last of the 3 cursed weapons and isn't even that great, it's the worst of the 3 forgings you can make with it, you can forge a non-cursed version that is much better and stronger+ Show Spoiler +with a broken sword hilt or straight sword hilt(first weapon you start with), it's 24/18/20/20, is stronger, and scales better, or you can forge the greatshield of artorias . Transient curses are still preferred so you can block the ghosts and then the weapon you should have been upgrading for use should 1 shot them anyway or you can use magic on them if that's your style.

Yeah I'm guessing he makes illusions of himself because he's can't take a hit. Maybe it's so you can run into the catacombs at the start fo the game to get the + Show Spoiler + from him, which is a nice tool to have early.

giant snakes throwing lightning while you cross narrow bridges with giant floating axe traps might be The Most Obnoxious Thing Ever Devised By Man.

Poison arrows are a really cheap way to deal with that, shoot like 3-5 at long distance to poison (even if it's only doing 1 damage at long range it'll still poison fine), and then just wait or switch to regular arrows to finish off quicker. My very first char I made I ended up having to buy soul arrow and running close and juking between blasts to fire near the bridge. That one at the start is the most annoying one, after that they're not as cheaply placed.

Just a tip to all first time players: If you get someone to help you on a boss or something and they look like they have decent gear/know what they are doing, try to stay safe and a bit passive. It has already happened to me twice now that the player I'm helping runs in and dies before I can even get any good hits in, which is a bit sad when I can 10 shot the boss. Obviously, you shouldn't let your jolly coop friend do everything, but just so you know, if you die, your coopers are thrown out and get nothing. Also, even the one your cooping with dies, you can still continue, so it's not a problem to let them tank a bit, especially since you're the one holding the flasks (coop phantoms can't use flasks).

The first archer, on the right side, can be hit from way back if you stand between the entrance and the bridge. You have to time your arrows between the axe swings, but he won't be able to hit you, and a few shots will knock him off the ledge he's on. You can also shoot the first lizard warrior to make him run towards you, probably getting him hit by a giant axe, which is always fun to watch happen to someone else :-p

This is ... not so fun. I'm at a fog gate in the Depths, which seems to lead to some huge open area, and the only bonfire I've found was before the big rat. Have I missed anything or do I have to run through all those frog-assholes again? Not that they were hard, but they were annoying.

I don't think you've missed anything, the fog gate leads to a boss which drops the key to blighttown, the next area(bring blooming purple moss clumps), which you use on the door by the merchant Domnhall of Zena(he's pretty close to the boss behind an open iron grate in the room with a square pool of water, 2 rats and 2 slimes, later moves to firelink under burg bridge).
The Basilisk (frog-assholes) area has the Ring of the Evil Eye if you didn't get it yet (which heals 30 hp for every enemy killed), but it's not that important/useful except at low levels. The large ember was behind the first butcher in the chest, but I assume you probably got that(spider shield also if you+ Show Spoiler + fall behind where the butcher was , useful for blighttown but shows up later in valley of the drakes too). There is also an NPC invader just before the start of the basilisk area, you have to be human for it to happen, you have to do all 3 fights with him for his armor.+ Show Spoiler +Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith are the other 2
By bonfire before the rat, do you mean the one behind the locked door in the hall with slimes and a torch zombie? That's the only bonfire in the depths.
