You should've been invaded earlier. If you're human, there'll be a summon sign right outside the entrance to the boss area. She helps immensely in the fight.

Wouldn't that just make the game super easy?
then this should be single player only game. its not about ease, it's about playing with friends for what i'm suggesting.

This is generally because of overleveling and the game not really being scaled for it. I would think it pretty normal for a first time player to be above lvl 70 when they hit the last boss, which makes the boss pretty easy, especially if you have upgraded your weapons well.
Personally, I got stuck on Ornstein and Smough, went out in the world and got a lot better gear, then went back, and the game was pretty easy after that point.
A lot of the game getting easier is actually the player getting better as well. By the time you've cleared Anor Londo you've dealt with masses of Silver Knights and Sen's Funhouse. The only really majorly challenging area after that was Tomb of the Giants, and that's not even that bad once you're through the first half. Individual skill level completely changes how difficult the game is. I've got about 60 or so hours spent on the XBox version and surprised myself by easily killing Havel with only one death while still very low level and undergeared, + Show Spoiler +
without sorcery leashing silliness.
There's stuff that seems impossible when you're just starting out that is doable, or even easy, when you go back to it with the experience.+ Show Spoiler +
You can also get a bonus weapon right at the very start if you kill the initial boss in the Asylum using just your broken short sword.
Or clearing the game using starting gear/without leveling. It's remarkable how well the system rewards player experience and knowledge.
Indeed, far more of being good at the game is about knowing how to play (how to properly dodge attacks, when to use an opening to attack, etc.) rather than the equipment or levels. Those only determine how much damage you deal, and how much you take if you actually get hit(which means you made a mistake).
There's a deprived class that starts with no armor (he also starts with a plank shield solely so you can parry) for a reason; once you know how to play well it's a totally viable class. It's possible do lvl 1 runs of this game if you are good enough.

I can definitely see it happen for Ornstein and Smough, because it's actually fairly easy to never be hit by them because of the columns. Easy as in, it's possible to do if you're good, not as in most people will be able to.
As for 4 kings, I really don't know... as lvl 1, you'll not do enough damage and eventually you'll probably be in for a real shitfest... I assume really good players could do it though, but man, seems like torture.

Why are the low-level-high-geared invaders such bad PvP'ers...Honestly man, some guy called DemonTalonKing busts into Gargoyles boss section with his high gear whilst I'm sunbro'ing for people and he's terrible. He actually fled because he can't hit me and got caught up in two backstabs.
I'MMA MESSAGE DAT MAH FUCKER
Just looked through the Book of the Guilty. Yup, another bunch of lame'o's from 1-20 wielding high gear and lightning shit plus a level 1 with all their stats ranging from 80-100.
Surely it must get boring bashing low levels over and over again. Why don't they try to improve at PvP than just one shot people...

Hmm, seems his damage is actually perfectly fine... lighting weapons OP. Still very impressive.
Doesn't look too difficult. Like, how did he even get hit the times that he did.
I just don't understand how dodging the spin attack works. video looks like it should be hitting him every time.
I think there are some frames in a roll where you are invincible. I hear this has changed a bit for PC version, but at least on 360, you needed pretty sick timing to rely on it.

The timing isn't really that hard at all, it's near the beginning of the roll(not instantly when you hit the button, though it's close just after). The timing is well placed such that you time the roll a little before an attack hits you and you dodge it. A good trick in pvp is to roll forward just before someone attacks you and you dodge their attack and are in position to follow up with your own attack or a spambustion. The pc version supposedly gives more invincibility frames, so it should be even easier.
As a side note, the way to check a shield/weapon's parry window is to parry the wall in a moving elevator and see the sparks, easier when moving up.

Fire and Lightning weapons don't scale off stats at all, so a lvl1 char will do as much damage as a lvl 700 char with them, and are close to as strong as every other weapon with full upgrades and/or scaling. Pyromancy also does not scale with any stat, only the upgrade of the hand determines the damage. Well, except for cast speed of all spells/miracles/pyros which scales with dex(max 45).
The four kings are one of the hardest bosses in the game and even they are doable at lvl 1, and necessary for a lvl 1 darkwraith build (red eye orbs invade people higher lvl than you, but starts looking as close as it can to your lvl, so it's mostly for trolling newbies. Also you farm 99 humanities to hold so that your defenses are increased by 99 levels for maximum trollage).

The PC version does not give you more invincibility frames except on mid roll where it is just a little more invincibility frames, fast roll and very fast roll is still the same a long with DWGR.
What makes DWGR so good is it has the most invincibility frames out of the other rolls making it great in pvp, which is why it had a well needed nerf. Fighting people in giants armor and black knights greataxe flip ringing around was frustrating to say the least.
I was blocked against the Bell gargoyle for quite a while so I tried different way and I ended up in the grassroot gardens after defeating that miniboss, fighting weird moving treants, some giant soldiers,+ Show Spoiler +
running on items on the ground, which finally led me to get the Vegetal Shield; the Elite knight set, but also the leather set and the brigands set. I made that on pure randomness so i was quite amazed to find all this.
Then while walking in the darkroot garden i ended up in the basin, where I had to fight this Black knight, and I ****ing defeated him! First time I could do this. This allowed me to go to the Drake's valley where I couldn't stand a single chance + Show Spoiler +
but I tried to fight the first drake who destroyed me with quite ease while I couldn't do any proper damage (even with the drake sword). Nonetheless I spotted the shiny soul on the bridge after thi.s Drake and the one on the bridge it-self and I decided i would go on a suicide run to get it... and it was the spider shield
I don't know how good is that item but I don't see much use for it as my vegetal shield is really awesome.
Then I decided I could and would rip the head of the precedent Black Knights, hoping for some luck drop, but I didn't get anything except for plain satisfaction and a ring for one of them.
Still, I managed to beat the gargoyle after that which made me absolutely happy.
Now that i am in the lower undeadburg I went to the Carpa Demon and I couldn't move for 3 step: the demon rushed me really fast and I wasn't able to parish its attack despite the fact i was guarding, then the dogs bit me to death while the demon was laughing pointing at me.
ps: what was that kind of Hydra at the Darkroot basin, seems like some piece of huge boss.
