It depends on what kind of build you want to do (character stat wise) but generally huge swords like that are better off going to +15 over adding an element (maybe raw). And no you don't get the souls or any of the stones and shit you put in them.

To be honest, you could go either way with it, but +15 weapons are the strongest variety by a little bit. I think it requires 24 str from memory, so you aren't too far over the minimum for it anyway. They nerfed all lightning weapons by about 10% in the pc version btw. If you are going for a str build(50 str/58 for smoughs hammer), then +15 with the sunlight blade miracle was better than any lightning weapon anyway even before the lightning weapon nerf. Generally a +15 weapon is the strongest version of the weapon you can get if you have 40-50 in the scaling stat. Elemental weapons aren't quite as strong even if they're close, and get hit more by resistances. Dark souls is very good about having multiple right options, most of them are just preference, both in weapon choice and upgrades (except for raw and crystal, those are bad options. Raw is slightly stronger than +10 with worse scaling, same with Crystal except same scaling but very low durability and no repairing it). Undoing upgrades does not give back souls or materials. You can just downgrade to the previous level before ascension (i.e. a +anything lightning will downgrade to a +10 weapon, a +6-10 weapon will downgrade to a +5, a +anything chaos weapon downgrades to +5 fire, etc) Tl;DR +15 if you are raising the scaling stat is slightly better. Elemental is slightly worse in damage and get hit more by resists, but lets you put stat points elsewhere.

It's only $40, no lag from what I can tell so far(yay!), extra content, and the mod for higher resolution looks nice, so it was an easy choice for me, but I also no longer have the ps3 copy anymore that I put 400+ hrs into. The price point made it especially easy to decide.

Pvp is by far more balanced now and the new content is amazing a long with the new matchmaking system. Flip Ring was nerfed so no more people in stone armor flip ringing around, all of the masks from patches were nerfed and a few other things were as well. The new content was done very well, I love the new boss fights and the optional boss has an epic dragon feel to it similar to the gaping dragon except its actually volatile and hard.

It's a straight port, but with extra content and the graphics mod makes the game look 5x better than the ps3 version. I'd say go for it if you're itching for some Souls action. There are no major bugs or performance issues or anything like that.

when you look at a weapon, how can you tell what stat it scales with? (besides the obvious like daggers and massive hammers.)

I don't know if they're "supposed to be", but they are awful, yes. I'm currently playing with mouse/keyboard, but I really wish I had a controller to play it with. The thing I'm mostly upset about is the fact that the keys are all over the place. also: this game is fun.+ Show Spoiler + I died like 10 times in the Firelink Shrine because I didn't know you were not supposed to go through the graveyard with the skeletons, lol

I read online that it was for both pvp and coop, does that mean I can literally play with a friend constantly instead of trying to time the signs akwardly?

I assume that the new bosses are the whole 'artorias' extras, which was really awesome. One thing I have to ask, I saw a lot of streams where people are fighitng a dragon much like the one in valley of the drakes, zombified... but inside a world that has a really dark sky and a decrepid castle? :s I didn't see this at all, perhaps I missed an area completely? also, a woman in a white dress with a scythe. Where are these located? is it hidden content?

I would also Like to highlight Gamefrontdotcom's James walkthrough, it's funniest thing regarding Dark Souls on the internet. It takes him half a year to beat the game.

Being a straight port also means that those who don't have high-end PCs probably won't be able to play, sadly. Imagine is SC2 didn't have graphics options.

I thought " hey, i have a lot of free time i would enjoy a game like this", that style of basically "2 button" combat is not really my thing but considering that i heard there is more "in depth" to the game than just dodge and attack i thought id give it a chance. My experience goes like this: - Oh... "selective clicking", well at least i am able to click - "Why the fuck do you hide the name tab at character creation !?!?" - There are a lot of stats that i can juggle between with classes... too bad they don't tell me shit about what they do in game and don't give me any under the hood numbers - Began the game, had to figure out the interaction button since its obviously too much of a hassle to change some text for PC in a port that was done in 4 months - " Those camera controls are real shitty" - " Why the fuck did i not get hit by the demon, the animation clearly showed him hitting me ?" shortly followed by " Why the fuck did i get hit by the demon, the animation was miles away from me" - When i reached the part where you get the shield and figured out END, fucking END is the button to open up the menue/inventory i gave up... There are levels and levels of shitty PC ports... this is way bellow everything else i have seen. I am yet to see a game that hasn't even bothered to put there god damn menu on ESC. ( not that it would be the biggest problem i got with it, the controls are what i horrible but it just goes to show how much they "cared" for this port ) This officially has beaten the record of how fast i uninstalled and RPG from my PC after starting to play it.

Congrats, you're missing out on a great game. I had all the same issues as you mentioned and decided to give it a try with gamepad. I HATE how camera controls work out with a gamepad but I'm in love with the game. <3

That's some nice rage without any good reason you've got here. All the things you described are mostly because you use a keyboard, using a pad would help you. I don't remember the name tab being hidden. Yes stats are not really explained but imho it is really easy to figure out what they do. Also Dark souls wiki. Interaction button -> grab a gamepad (xbox or w/e) Those camera controles -> grab a gamepad or learn to lock your target. (mouse has a issue with the camera for some) Getting hit/ not hit -> I got hit all the time and it always look correct if not perfect. Figuring out controls -> why don't you open the option menu and check the control before playing, srsly ?

Countless backstabs from my +5 longsword, then he'd just run away into a group of monsters, heal, and come back. All my friendly summon attempts failed. This went on for 10 minutes, then I just killed myself. when you look at a weapon, how can you tell what stat it scales with? (besides the obvious like daggers and massive hammers.) When you are viewing a weapon in the inventory, you can press the same button for use item to change screens. There will be a letter for the scaling next to the symbol for the stat, ranking from E to S. If you press use item button again you get to the item description as well. As a side note, the button for 2-hand/1-hand will also change the box on the right of the menu to different stats too.

The name tab is one of the first things to come up when you create a char. In fact, it starts on the name tab, and it says, "enter name" right under create character to denote that that is what tab you are on. It tells you exactly what all the stats do in the game. Go to the status screen and it says <Back:Explanation, and back(key for open gesture menu) lets you scroll through all of the stats and it tells you what each one does. If you opened the options menu and went to keybindings, it shows all the pc keybindings. You really couldn't be arsed to open up the keybindings and see what the controls were before playing and change them to your preferred settings? If you aren't even going to attempt to figure things out or read the screen(this would have solved your name/stats issues, plain old reading) or check the controls before playing you shouldn't be bitching about them. You didn't even try.
