are you at the part where the dragon is blocking the bridge? halfway across the bridge on the left side you can go underneath and take a ladder down to a bonfire to save. then you make your way under the bridge and to the left there will be a tunnel to go into.

i think i might go out and buy a strategy guide myself, not to make the game easy, but to not miss anything important. not going to use a cheese build or anything though...i'm having a hard time so far lol. personally i just got to the blacksmith and then wiped over and over on that necro mini boss

Yeah thats exactly the part, i take the left side, go through the tunnel, kill some rats and get poisoned or something, then, if i go up a staircase, theres a boss, if i walk straight, theres some giant rat boss or something, im sure i need to grind before doing that area. And also, should i have the blacksmith by now? or am i missing something here?

well i may have missed something, but after i killed those 3 rats in the tunnel there was a ladder to go up and i went up, and then to your right when you get off the ladder there is a huge like hog boss who is completely plated in platinum armor or something. you need to go up the staircase on the right and kill the archers up top first, then make your way down and kill the boss (i found making him charge into the fire dealt with him handily) and you get a crazy looking helm off of him.

if you go back up the stairs again, there is a path that leads to the right and you're walking along the edge of the castle taking it will eventually lead you to the right side of the church (there will be 2 warriors and 1 archer there for reference) and to the right of them there is a pathway that will lead you to a bonfire and the blacksmith

for the boar boss, I think the intended way to kill him is to use the alluring skulls thing you pick up in that area, just throw one to bait the boar over and drop attack from the ledge above, one shots the boar.

You can also make the boar charge into the fires and kill it that way. That's how I did it. Usually 2 charges will burn him to death.

i'm about to wait until there is a fix for this walk bug i'm having, because it's the most fucking annoying shit in the world and i think it's a root to a lot of my problems. say i'm side stepping to avoid something? well literally 50%+ of the time my guy DOES NOT run (not dash...run. example: you can walk, run, or dash, run being "normal" move speed) and will WALK even when i'm pushing my god damn trigger all the way in that direction. i get hit a lot of times where if my guy didn't decide to move at half-speed he wouldn't have gotten hit, but i do since i'm moving so god damn slow!

i should record what it looks like when i'm just trying to move forwards lol. i have to constantly run around and side to side so my guy will actually run and not walk slow.

edit: yep done for now i'd like to see someone beat the gargoyals and try to do it when you can only walk to avoid fire and attacks when out of stamina lol

First playthrough isn't too hard, just takes some getting used to. By five playthroughs do you mean dfiferent chars? Or did you actually go to New Game + + + +? Because it gets hard as shit by that playthrough, and you can go even farther than that.

You need to be cursed later on anyways to kill the ghosts. Although I would recommend farming the ghosts while you can for a ghost blade so that you can damage them without having to curse yourself.

Ahhh i see, thanks for the info, going to go do that right now!

i actually found a nice guide here if you ever need to refer to it, i was using the ign one but this one has way more screenshots since its kind of hard to determine where you are
http://mycheats.1up.com/view/section/3175306/31861/dark_souls/ps3

some things might not be 100% right since its the ps3 version though

I haven't finished downloading the PC version yet so I can't speak to that, but there's basically 3 main sections of the game with a lot of side areas mixed in. First is Ringing the Bells + Show Spoiler +
First one at the top of the church accessed right by those 2 warriors and archer you mentioned. Second at the bottom through the depths and that rat boss to get to BlightTown(poisonous, be careful).
, the second is getting a quest item called+ Show Spoiler +
The Lordvessel. The room just above that blacksmith where the bridge is, the gate is opened after you ring the bells. Going through there will eventually lead to Anor Londo and the Lordvessel(which lets you warp to major bonfires).
And then the game goes Super Metroid on you and you have to kill the remaining major bosses to reach the end. There are a whole lot of side areas that guides just sort of mix in randomly at different times depending on which one you look at, but the basic plot follows those three sections of the game.

The number of sidequest areas rivals the main game though, there is plenty of places to go to and explore, and you can pretty much do them at any time. And then you go to new game +. And new game + +. And new game + + +, etc, until you just can't take it anymore and give up. Most PvP on PS3 is done at lvl 120 and below, but if you are really hardcore you can go at least 7 playthroughs and lvl up to 700+. And the PvP is always insanely fun too, it never gets old. I've lost many a nights sleep just killing other players until the sun came up.

Or just use the transient curse item which doesn't cut your health in half and lets you hit ghosts for 5 minutes. The ghosts themselves drop it pretty often, and you can buy them too if need be. At least it's not demon's souls where your health is halved like that whenever you die until you retrieve your corpse. Both of the ghost blades kinda suck anyway. Scratch that, they both really suck, even when fully upgraded. They're top contenders for the worst weapons in the game.

This game is genuinely creepy in some places. I don't think this game was supposed to be a horror game, but the feeling I have can best be compared to that feeling I had while playing that 3D castlevania game on the N64. It's supposed to be action-adventure/RPG, but for some reasons it has a pretty creepy atmosphere often enough.

After spending foreeeever trying to get my ps3 controller connected via bluetooth, I can finally enjoy Dark Souls. I slaved over Demon's Souls, so I can't wait to play this! Here's to hoping the 40 bucks and hassle were worth it..

Awesome! Now THAT is how I like my dark fantasy aRPG (unlike that *other* one that recently released ).

Have been playing on PC nonstop for the past 2 days. Got to Anor Lando, enemies getting pretty tough and annoying. You constantly walking on 1 foot wide ledges and you have to fight a silver knight, like wtf...

I would say the KB & mouse is pretty good, it took me some time to get used to it. The most important part is using the target lock ASAP and block. Practice pressing those keys and you will do fine.

LoL, part of the playing/learing experience. Just keep your eyes open and explore all areas. There are multiple bonfires and short cuts in each area. For example, Sen's Fortress, later on in the game has a bonfire so hidden. You probably won't find it and you have to explore the entire fortress dodging giant boulders, swinging axes, walking on 1 foot wide ledges... only to fall off and restart all over from the beginning.

How do people miss that bonfire? When I played through on console there were a ton of messages pointing out where it is. On your own, yeah, you'd walk right past it, but the glowing orange letters in the corner kind of give it away.

Honestly, you should stop that. The game isn't nearly as challenging if you already know the tricks, strategies, and what to expect. Kind of ruins the whole point of the game imo.

When you invade a planet, it's actually you playing, right? Because I was just invaded for the first time, and the dude played like a really bad npc. Hitting when I blocked, getting riposted, and repeating the thing until he was dead. He had 1 humanity and 5k souls or something (it was down in the Sewers in the Depths).

Indeed. If it's a black/red shadow looking figure then it's another person. Don't expect good quality pvp'ers early game. You'll find most of them "trading" dragon eyes in the final area right before the last boss. It's a really good area as there's a perfect little circle type area to fight in.

There are actually a few NPC invasions at certain spots if you're in human form. The Depths / Sewers towards the end is one of them. I'm not sure how to tell except for the names. If it sounds like an NPC name, it probably is. If it sounds like a gamer tag, then yeah, it's a person. NPC phantoms will usually spawn quite close to you, so you'll see them quickly, but players can spawn in a fair ways away and take a while to find you. Once you meet them, of course, you'll know if they're human or not by how they fight, like you mentioned.
