You can also make the boar charge into the fires and kill it that way. That's how I did it. Usually 2 charges will burn him to death.

i should record what it looks like when i'm just trying to move forwards lol. i have to constantly run around and side to side so my guy will actually run and not walk slow. edit: yep done for now i'd like to see someone beat the gargoyals and try to do it when you can only walk to avoid fire and attacks when out of stamina lol

It wasnt as hard as most people said :D First playthrough isn't too hard, just takes some getting used to. By five playthroughs do you mean dfiferent chars? Or did you actually go to New Game + + + +? Because it gets hard as shit by that playthrough, and you can go even farther than that.

Although I would recommend farming the ghosts while you can for a ghost blade so that you can damage them without having to curse yourself.

First is Ringing the Bells + Show Spoiler + First one at the top of the church accessed right by those 2 warriors and archer you mentioned. Second at the bottom through the depths and that rat boss to get to BlightTown(poisonous, be careful). The Lordvessel. The room just above that blacksmith where the bridge is, the gate is opened after you ring the bells. Going through there will eventually lead to Anor Londo and the Lordvessel(which lets you warp to major bonfires). The number of sidequest areas rivals the main game though, there is plenty of places to go to and explore, and you can pretty much do them at any time. And then you go to new game +. And new game + +. And new game + + +, etc, until you just can't take it anymore and give up. Most PvP on PS3 is done at lvl 120 and below, but if you are really hardcore you can go at least 7 playthroughs and lvl up to 700+. And the PvP is always insanely fun too, it never gets old. I've lost many a nights sleep just killing other players until the sun came up.

Or just use the transient curse item which doesn't cut your health in half and lets you hit ghosts for 5 minutes. The ghosts themselves drop it pretty often, and you can buy them too if need be. At least it's not demon's souls where your health is halved like that whenever you die until you retrieve your corpse. Both of the ghost blades kinda suck anyway. Scratch that, they both really suck, even when fully upgraded. They're top contenders for the worst weapons in the game.

I don't think this game was supposed to be a horror game, but the feeling I have can best be compared to that feeling I had while playing that 3D castlevania game on the N64. It's supposed to be action-adventure/RPG, but for some reasons it has a pretty creepy atmosphere often enough. Awesome! Now THAT is how I like my dark fantasy aRPG (unlike that *other* one that recently released ![]() ^ lol yeah I've been watching streams almost nonstop- mostly trying to catch the new arena PvP.

I would say the KB & mouse is pretty good, it took me some time to get used to it. The most important part is using the target lock ASAP and block. Practice pressing those keys and you will do fine.

Little did i know, you can kick down the ladder on top of that campfire, to make a shortcut. omg, i feel so incredibly dumb right now. Thanks for the link Silidons, without that, i would have just kept going the long way around, rofl! LoL, part of the playing/learing experience. Just keep your eyes open and explore all areas. There are multiple bonfires and short cuts in each area. For example, Sen's Fortress, later on in the game has a bonfire so hidden. You probably won't find it and you have to explore the entire fortress dodging giant boulders, swinging axes, walking on 1 foot wide ledges... only to fall off and restart all over from the beginning.

How do people miss that bonfire? When I played through on console there were a ton of messages pointing out where it is. On your own, yeah, you'd walk right past it, but the glowing orange letters in the corner kind of give it away. The game isn't nearly as challenging if you already know the tricks, strategies, and what to expect. Kind of ruins the whole point of the game imo.

Hitting when I blocked, getting riposted, and repeating the thing until he was dead. He had 1 humanity and 5k souls or something (it was down in the Sewers in the Depths). Indeed. If it's a black/red shadow looking figure then it's another person. Don't expect good quality pvp'ers early game. You'll find most of them "trading" dragon eyes in the final area right before the last boss. It's a really good area as there's a perfect little circle type area to fight in.

There are actually a few NPC invasions at certain spots if you're in human form. The Depths / Sewers towards the end is one of them. I'm not sure how to tell except for the names. If it sounds like an NPC name, it probably is. If it sounds like a gamer tag, then yeah, it's a person. NPC phantoms will usually spawn quite close to you, so you'll see them quickly, but players can spawn in a fair ways away and take a while to find you. Once you meet them, of course, you'll know if they're human or not by how they fight, like you mentioned.
