edit in DSfix.ini and DSfixKeys.ini as you please if you know what you're doing, if not google for some settings / youtube. Oh right, if you turn on beta options in DkS1 in your steam account, it just might fuck up both .ini files a bit. There were a lot of thread how to fix that on the steam forums. The beta options allow you to play online with other players without a games for windows live thing, which was cancer.

I'm starting to feel a bit underpowered, though... Is it a bad idea to invest in upgrading Astora's Straight Sword? I heard that you could make it divine by upgrading it to +5 and using some ember? I picked it up with my fresh new Cleric, but I'm always reluctant to invest those rare crafting materials. Astora's Straight Sword +5 can be your main weapon for +/- half the game but it's poor scaling makes it fall of later on. If you know where to get early twinkling titianites you should totally upgrade it. Also, twinkling titanite isn't that rare so don't be afraid to spend it on stuff you want to use. I really don't get why DS community in general bashes this weapon for being garbage. It's really strong if you don't expect it to be your main weapon throughout the whole game and you can get it pretty much right at the start. As a bonus it has awesome name and an awesome model.

I only know about four twinkling titanite early on: the crystal lizard in the forest above the dark knight and the grass crest shield as well the one in Havel's tower in Undeadburg. Oh, and thanks for the links to DSFix. I wasn't able to find them because I thought it was called DSIfix for some reason.

I picked it up with my fresh new Cleric, but I'm always reluctant to invest those rare crafting materials. The enemies in Sen's have an absurdly large health pool, but can be backstabbed and parried rather easily. Sen's is basically a "test" to see if you're ready for the next areas of the game. If you can't handle Sen's, you won't be able to handle what follows anyway. Personally I love Sen's fortress. It allows the player to take a break from the endless fighting up until that point and do some puzzling. The one thing that is frustrating is that the area only has a single (hidden) bonfire that you can only access after having run through 80% of the area. "Ascended from hell" has to be the perfect description of finally getting out of Blighttown alright.

Finally got everything going, got invaded and one shot. Then pissed off the crestfallen warrior who killed me over and over at firelink. A rocky start, i considered uninstalling. I must say I'm glad i didn't, because i am absolutely in love with this game. Just beat O&S, and I'm psyched for whatever is next. Still haven't figured out parrying for shit, nor pvp, but I'm sure they'll come in time! Well I'm now 200 hours in. Approaching O&S again...on my SL1 character. Trying to get my friends to play. I probably shouldn't have complained about how hard it was my first run :/

This sounds hilariously awesome if well executed. It kind of makes sense given the games mechanics; the bosses and enemies are probably designed not unlike the player character, with a given weapon / set of attacks / animations that would map to player-control. Building a UI around it is probably the time-consuming part. Not sure what exactly it would entail but playing through the story as Ornstein or Artorias or something (i.e. not SO outrageous or with size issues) would be insanely cool.

Also not sure how you'd translate a boss like Seath or Bed of Chaos.

Not sure it'll be that way since a majority of the bosses probably won't even be able to navigate the world, but it would be cool nonetheless for those that can. Either way this could be really interesting if it's done right.

It's just 1vs1 arena, you won't play the game.

Edit: forgot you have to place the lordvessel to do any of that, so I did 4 Kings. Havel tanking it was effective even at SL1. NOT looking forward to lost izalith.

This was a major piss-off: I found Atorias in what was one of the cooler areas in the game, got a raging nerd-boner for how cool the fight was and how cool the build-up with the dog and ring and all those story elements was. I got to him shortly after finishing Anor Londo, so I felt underpowered, said I would come back later. Long story short, killing Gwyn puts you straight into NG+. Which means either I play the game again on a higher difficulty with no upgrades to be had, or I start anew to be able to fight him again.
