So i tend to summon NPC/People because thats what make Dark Souls so awesome (and thats why adding an offline option was such a bad idea)
Why is it such a bad idea? In terms of co-op, the people that would choose an offline option are not likely to be actively involved in online activities if there is no offline option. The only difference is, and this doesn't even apply to Bloodborne, if you remove the offline functionality you just force people to be invaded when they're trying to play the PvE half of the game. There's no need for that.
Haven't we learned anything about always-online games?

I don't feel like my experience is diminished by playing offline at all, just because that makes this world even darker and more oppressive. Plus, I'm not sure being 'invaded' is that much fun when you don't know PvP at all yet.

Indeed, to me, invasions were mostly an annoying nuisance than anything else. They usually involved a guy who had some sort of PvP build and new how to PvP ganking my ass while i was busy fighting NPCs. Especially fun were the Invasions in Undead Burg by people who had already finished the game at lower levels, had maxed out pyromancy and were basically immune to my attacks due to massive armor. Even more fun if they do nothing but just follow you around until you start to PvE again, at which point they wait until you nearly reached your next goal, then kill you.
The whole ordeal was about as fun as getting ganked by a level 60 rogue in while levelling in stranglethorn in vanilla WoW.
Luckily, at some point i learned that being alive doesn't actually do anything for you, so i just stayed hollow except for when i kindled bonfires, after which i usually just suicided so i don't have to deal with the shitty annoying invasions.
My interaction with other people in this game comprised of: Reading messages (Which is pretty cool), from time to time see someones death (Usually randomly falling off a cliff), and getting ganked by people who were totally twinked out. Nothing one could not live without, though the messages were indeed nice.

I recently helped someone getting through undead burg to the taurus demon (i think it was his first time) and it was so much fun playing together. Summoning in this game is so much fun, getting invaded is not at all. Basically everyone that invades in DS1 is a pro that you don't have a chance anyway.

I used to have a low level build with only low level equipment that I would sit in Undead Burg/Parish and spank twinks with (+5 Claymore, RoFaP, Havel's Ring [which I guess isn't low level but technically you can get it at the beginning of the game] and some random armor). That was pretty fun.
The funny thing is that most twinks probably don't even play through the game first anyway, which I could somewhat respect. They just use Cheat Engine to get their equipment.

I don't mind people using cheat engine to get weapons. Only if you've earned it before. I've beaten this game SL1 so I basically give myself a "pass" to give myself equipment that would have taken hours to get otherwise. Of course I don't twink hard. The worst I'd do is themed invasions like an assassin with a +5 dark silver tracer and a +10 shotel. But see I think that's fair as long as I don't abuse the other player and give them a fair enough fight that's memorable. Key word here: memorable. I tend to try to maximize the other user's experience in my invasions. If only more invaders did the same.

Just killed the capra demon on my first try, then went down the super creepy fucking sewers, which was quite the rush. The next boss, Cleft Drake (?, I can't figure out how to play the game in English...) seems straight forward, if it weren't for the asshole that one-shots me with his spells. Now there's 10 humanity and 6000 souls lying around, so I can't afford to die until I get there again. God this game is just the best.

You can kill the dude before you go down there, hard to describe how you get from the bonfire, but it's possible.

Yep, explore the whole sewers first, you should be able to find the guy and smack his stupid face around
|
I killed him, then killed the Dragon (most horrifying boss so far, yet also the easiest) and THEN found the fucking bonfire!
My reward is having to go to Blight Town, yay. ._.
I can only go down there during the day because I'm too afraid of that place.

Haha, yeah blight town is a creepy place.
Also a pretty tough area, so good luck!

blight town isnt as bad as people say.+ Show Spoiler + its just dark and creepy but everything there is extremely killable until the giants. poison dart guys are annoying but you only have to kill them once so its really nothing.

I think the first enemies you encounter after descending from Depths into Blighttown are a good way to learn two elements of combat: backstabbing and grabs.
1. The big club-wielding ogres in the beginning are slow and can be fought with careful evasion and gradual pokes, but the best way to deal with them is to backstab. When I went through my first run of Dark Souls, I had my shield up all the time and proceeded very cautiously everywhere, fought every enemy individually and acted methodically in every skirmish. That works well enough... up until the ogres at Blighttown (and the next zone you will visit where this is more directly reinforced). They're a good way to learn optimal positioning.
2. The lanky creeper dudes can grab you and eat your face. That was another harsh awakening where I realized "hm I guess just having my shield up all the time isn't going to protect me from everything."
And the zone after the next one will teach you the value of parrying =)

Actually those big, fat dudes in blighttown are also a very good parry practice, even though they don't look so. They have only 3 moves or so and all are well telegraphed. Plus you can be very late with your parry and still make it work. You should try it out

I ascended from hell! Quelaag is dead, the wicked fucking witch is dead! I already love the next zone, Sen's Fortress. I'm starting to feel a bit underpowered, though...
Is it a bad idea to invest in upgrading Astora's Straight Sword? I heard that you could make it divine by upgrading it to +5 and using some ember? I picked it up with my fresh new Cleric, but I'm always reluctant to invest those rare crafting materials.

if you`re going dex , a good wapon at this point is the uchigatana , you should have the large ember from the depths , farm some large titanite from the slimes in the depths ad upgrade it to +10. now breeze trough sens fortress

I was going mainly Faith / Spirit so far because the Astora-sword scaled with it. Seemed like a sweet deal, because it also increases the damage of Lightning Spear, right?
At any rate, who can upgrade my Miracle-Catalyst / Chime / Pyromancy Glove for me?
|
At any rate, who can upgrade my Miracle-Catalyst / Chime / Pyromancy Glove for me? you cant upgrade catalysts and talismans, laurentius of the great swamp upgrades the pyromancy flame. (and Quelaana can ascend it later)
unfortunatly Astoras straightsword only scales with C in all categories, which means the boni arent gonna be good in the lategame. make sure to not waste too much on it.
on the other hand , if you want to build a total hybrid , getting the int requirement to wield artorias greatsword later could be a nice upgrade from Astoras.
