This game is fucking amazing. I got it during the winter Steam sale and already have 120 hours in it (albeit some of it AFK). I absolutely love it. It's also my first Japanese game in years and it's just awesome :D !!! I'm also a sucker for medieval RPGs and this one was great.
My favorite boss is probably Ornstein and Smough. It was really a good challenge fighting both of them at once, and then when you kill one, the other goes Super Saiyan mode making things interesting :D.
Pinwheel has the saddest backstory . Poor guy.
My first character was a Knight, armed with Paladin armor and +15 Zwei/+5 Lightning Uchigatana. I wanted to try most of the weapons, so he's at 40 str/40 dex, and at 40 end/40 vit.
In the interest of having a more diverse character, I made a Cleric, with the intent of going a pure faith build. Eventually, I'm going to get a +10 Divine garg halberd (probably the best halberd, and one of the better weapons in the game). 40-50 vit, 40 end, 16 str, 12 dex, 50 faith is the overall plan.

Probably gona buy green moss for stamina regen and up the katana and try again. Just use firelink shrine. Run down, take elevator, run over the bridges. Instead of running up the stairs, run to the right and jump down, you'll land in the water with a dark wraith. Run up stairs, past ghosts, boom, you're at the mist wall to the abyss.
Takes about a minute, including the elevator ride.

Yep, did some exploring and accidentally dropped into that puddle of water with the dark-wraith waiting. I just went fuck all the armor and just held the Greatsword of Artorias along with green mosses and 2H down the boss. It was quite easy to dodge its attacks rather than block it.
Thanks for the shortcut hint man

Thanks for the shortcut hint man My favorite way to beat the four kings (as long as it's new game) is to just wear the strongest armor I have, two-hand a fat weapon and force them down, simply ignoring their attacks, that way you can kill one before the next one shows up, giving you ample time to regen with flasks.
Their attacks are weird in the sense that if you're very close to them, they do pathetic damage, it's only dangerous if the tip of their blade hits you. Other than that, there are three attacks to worry about: Their range attack (which they almost never do if you sprint at them immediately when they spawn), their grab, and their AOE, both of which can be tanked if you have good enough armor and vitality, or dodged by rolling backwards quickly. The ranged attack is pure BS though, pretty much nothing you can do other than block it because it just never gives up.

Yeah the first go round I usually just equip havel's armor and just sprint right on top of them; it even worked on the level 1 playthrough I did (though I needed to use like 15 flasks, use pyromancy to cover my lack of stamina to keep attacking, and summon beatrice lol).

Yeah, I did it on my lvl 1 darkwraith run as well. I didn't summon beatrice, but I did have a highly upgraded fire club which helped a lot (4 kings are quite weak to fire). I always find Firelink Shrine the best bonfire to kindle anyway, since it's so close to several bosses, so having more than 10 flasks should not be a problem.

Yeah, I hadn't really started upgrading stuff at that point, think I was using the lightning spear at +1. My pyrofist was fully upgraded though.

Is halberd supposed to be like the best weapon in the game? Cause currently (just killed Iron Golem in Sen's Fortress) it's my go to solution for every single opponent, trash or boss. None other weapon comes even close to halberd's effectiveness. Or am I just that bad?

The normal halberd is nothing special though.

Halberds do have a very good moveset, but it's less that you're bad and more that every weapon in the game is very balanced. Also the Iron Golem is a pushover of a boss. Black Iron Tarkus can kill him by himself.

The normal "Halberd" (from outside the church) is one of those weapons in my opinion that newer players gravitate toward and veteran players dislike. I know I used it on my first playthrough ever, and on and off for the next couple even. But now I go back and use it and it feels really lackluster and slow. I think it's probably solid for very slow, methodical, patient play where you can poke from range, and that's why it's good when you're first starting out.
Though, I will admit, I still think the one-handed strong attack is still one of the cooler and more satisfying moves in the whole game haha

Why do u guys all say newcomers go for slow weapons and heavy armor :o I must have done it wrong then. I was strolling around with <25% and drake sword / uchigatana dodge rolling everything.
I think i equipped heavy armor once for capra demon, got owned, went back to dodge rolling xD

Oh I wasn't implying slow weapons / heavy armor for beginners at all. The RANGE of the Halberd is nice for newer players that want to play more patiently and carefully. I think beginners definitely GRAVITATE to certain weapons and heavier armor, but I don't think that it's BETTER, per se.

Probably gona buy green moss for stamina regen and up the katana and try again. Also, wear Havel's armor. They don't do a whole lot of damage. Meanwhile you're dishing out lots of DPS. I used a few Gold Pine Resins for them on my first character.

Speaking of Halberds, for pure faith builds, Divine Halberd / Garg Halberd is actually really good. You'll do really good damage with that much scaling and basically have godly-powerful Wrath of the Gods. The disadvantage is you aren't using Darkmoon Blade / Sunlight Blade like you would be with a Str/Faith or Dex/Faith build, but the power of the Miracles makes up for it.

Wow, Painted World of Ariamis is really awesome. So far this was the most impressive area for me, in terms of setting and atmosphere. Not to mention awesome farming spot :D Local boss was also fun to fight, interesting idea, I liked it.
In other news, I've been trying to farm silver knight spear in Anor Londo, just next to the 2nd bonfire, there is a silver knight with spear. But he seems broken, still no spear. Meanwhile, his buddy near the stairs dropped 5 items already, after around 40 kills on both.

Make sure to have the Golden Covetous Serpent Ring equipped and at least a few humanity. Enemies drop items like crazy.
Painted World of Ariamis was a real pain in the ass. The Harpies were annoying as heck, as were the Beyblade rollie skeleton guys. Although it's a sin to do so, I killed Priscilla every time so far :D
Basically my least favorite places are: 1) Tomb of the Giants (so dark and so many skeletons) 2) New Londo Ruins 3) Blighttown 4) Catacombs 5) Painted World
Everywhere else I like for the most part, although Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith were kind of lazy creations :/ Spam Capra, Taurus, tentacle, and fat demons, and giant dinosaurs, and call it a day :S

I might dick around with this this weekend. Never done PURE faith because I've always been under the (false?) impression that using a weapon buff (in either an Int or Faith build) ended up doing more damage than a divine/enchanted/etc. Even if you leave your str/dex at the minimum allowable to wield whatever weapon of choice.

50 hours in and i still dunno how to use sorcery, miracles and pyromancy.
Playing Warrior i think and i heard we need pyro flame or a talisman.
Then go to the bonfire and attune it? It says i have no attunement slots when i click on it. Wonder if its a job class thing
Edit: Nvm, i need to lvl up attunement slots.
