Yeah definitely, also if you like the story of winnie the pooh home run derby then you will definitely like dark souls. The handling is a little more restrictive than in gran turismo 3, but it's made up for in the fact that the batting is much more responsive than MLB 2k11.

I think I'm screwed. I'm at the 2bosses in golden armor and I attacked the warrior of the sun by mistake..so now he is dead and I can't invoke him to help me. ahah It's my first play-through so I suck hard. If anyone is willing to help me, I would be glad ! (never played co-op)

You're not screwed, of course, since O+S are doable solo, but obviously it's considerably more difficult. It's easier to kill Ornstein first since he tends to charge at you quickly whereas Smough lumbers behind, but you probably knew that already. Use the pillars to your advantage since Smough tends to get stuck on them whereas Ornstein will glide around them and get separated.

Upgrade your equipment! This will make the fight much easier. Your primary weapon should be at least +10 and your armor should be upgraded too. Make sure the weapon you're using scales with the stats you've been leveling before you upgrade.

Thx for the advice but I think I screwed up this part too as I went for lighting damage (+10 then lightning to the giant blacksmith) on my giant sword and it's probably not effective for this boss. I wanted to go for pyromancy too but I answered yes to the pyro vendor when he asked about my chaos flame so I had to kill him too before buying his spells.. ahah this first play-through is a mess !

Yeah I kinda made a mess. I saw pyro in the speed run on SDA and it looked awesome. So I pumped a shit load into it. I'm using the guy who has high dex as a starting ability. The weird light skinned one. But I put loads into str because I really liked the look of the black knight sword. Now I have a power glove with like level 9 and it's so many souls to make it better, but it does less damage than the sword and kinda sucks with the range and the limited uses. Yuck. Now I have a character with 20str 20dex and like 15vit and 13 end. So unbalanced and nooby, I'm stuck between two different builds it seems and I'm way shitter than my soul level (I think 36) is supposed to be.

Get some more end/vit/str (in that order) and youre gonna be cool beans.

The combustions are good for close range standard combat, and the fire balls (incl. Fire Orb) are good for heavier hitters where you can keep your distance, and bosses. +9 glove is pretty good, should be doing reasonable damage.
Also, appearance and starting class are unrelated.

You're actually doing ok on stats, maybe you could have skimped on the dex a little to focus on str, but you actually aren't too unblanaced, you need higher dex for some str weapons (like black knight weapons) anyway, that's actually a pretty good build so far for a first playthrough as it lets you try almost everything. The pyro glove is expensive in the later levels, but it gets pretty powerful and (great)combustion is one of the fastest moves in the game, +9 is actually technically less than halfway+ Show Spoiler +after it gets to +15 you can ascend it in the swamp and upgrade that ascended flame to +5, so it's 20 upgrades total . Lvl 36 is actually quite low still, you can level up to 80-90 pretty easily in new game, but then it's easier to go to new game + to level up. With your current stat setup you should probably continue with vit(40-50), str(36-50), and end(40). Str doesn't have to be a focus if you don't want it, your build could go any way right now, but it's a good stat for inexperienced players to open more options and make everything easier due to more damage. Really, you char is still competent and fine, you didn't make a really bad mess.

Not really. Like solidbebe says, basically the only thing he sells is boss' armors, all of them are only mediocre and you can still get in new game + (and one of them even requires that anyway). It's actually quite difficult to screw yourself over in dark souls, and if you know what you're doing getting a new char to ng+ is a breeze. you can do 3 in an afternoon, especially if you don't worry about picking up every single item that you won't ever use(most of them are just souls anyway) and just go for what you want to use with that char it's easy. The only way to really screw yourself and have to restart is the new bug if kill Ingward before he gives you the key to the seal he won't drop it, almost every other problem can be solved by just leveling up, advancing the game again, or farming.
|
Yeah, the merchant in the depths isn't important at all. The armors he sell are all decorative boss armors, and unless you're going for pure aesthetics there are better options.
The other way you can screw yourself is by killing Andre the blacksmith, because you won't be able to asccend weapons past +5 and are stuck using Fire/Magic/Divine Weapons and/or Twinkling Titanite weapons, which would be rough for new players. But even that's recoverable since there are some really good weapons that don't use Andre (for example, I currently use Silver Knight Spear and Shield).
