We'll change or remove the guild form today.
Remember that we thought up the basic structure in very little time.
Thanks for the input but please give us some time, the game is not out yet.

If you dont like the application form or you disagree then start up your own guild with equal minded people. If I put a lot of work into creating a guild I wouldnt have anyone telling me who should get invited, how the guild should be run, if it should be casual or hardcore and so forth.

I think we all agree that the community shouldn't be split up unnecessarily, and I'm sure the founders of this guild want community feedback to make it as representative as possible. If you want to make a guild where no one has any objections, no need to put a TL tag on it.

Before this was not possible due to Team Legacy's NA timezone. Initially we liked the idea of having an interview so we could get to know eachother before the game started. This can be seen as catering too much to hardcore players and I agree. This is now creating friction while it's not a fundamental part of the guild setup. There will be space for casuals and hardcore players alike, the application is not final, it'll either be a one or two minute time investment or it'll be gone alltogether. Edit:a word

That way people who just want to play and have fun will have no trouble joining, and people who want to play in a more organized fashion can do so as well.

So yeah, I'd like to join the more casual Team Liquid guild proposed by Valshu & co.. Here's my application, nobody answered TOCHMY on whom to send it, so I'll just post it here so all can bash on me ![]() + Show Spoiler + Do you have MMO experience? Yeah. Played Lineage 2 for 3-4 years and started playing again now that it's f2p. Also played EVE for 2 year, however not continuously but rather on and off. Dunno if you can count browser games as MMOs, but I played some hardcore ones (DarkThrone, Travian -first version, not the new ones-, ogame, and others) alongside some hardcore people for 2-3 years aswell. How do you think you can contribute to the guild? I'm a good money maker ![]() Would you classify yourself as a hardcore or more of a casual player? Somewhere in the middle. From time to time I like to get all hardcore however continuously doing hardcore stuff can also make me want a time out. Communication is important to us, if invited you to an interview, would you accept?: (if not, what are your reasons?) Sure. Are you willing to give us feedback and share your ideas with the rest of the guild? Yeah, if I can help, I'll help. However since I don't see a dedicated question, I'll just say it here ..I'm a GW noob. So, at the start I won't have that much too share I guess. How experienced are you in Starcraft? Been in Platinum once ... but then I dropped to gold. So yeah, pure noob. How much time on average do you think you can spend playing Guild Wars? (weekdays and weekends seperate) weekdays 2 hours, weekends ~4-5 hours a day How is your English? good This is an 18+ guild, how old are you? 24

The guild setup allows for harcore players and casuals to play in the same guild, the game does also supports it. With the guild form heavily modified or removed alltogether GW2:EU will be support both hardcore and casual players. members need to adhere to the guild rules so that will likely be the only thing we will ask for before accepting members but I still need to talk to Pantythief about the changes before we implement them.

I like the idea of being an EU wing of Team Legacy, I also kind of liked the whole interview thing mainly as a way to break the ice and meet a few people from the guild prior to launch. However I can see how some people would interpret that as being a little hardcore. Maybe a better idea is to make sure the guild is active in the pre-purchase beta weekends? I can totally see them as a good opportunity to unite the guild each beta weekend on Teamspeak and the like and maybe even have a few WvW events?

Get a teamspeak server up and start gathering people as soon as people start to get into the beta.

EDIT: That is a good idea, we can get together in the open beta instead of using the guild form+interview.

I don't want to make another thread and I don't want to be gm. I'm not arguing over the gm position. I will ask again, what if I want to have a more qualified gm than you? Why should you lead and not someone who will do it better? You already said that you won't go to the trouble of making events or organizing them, I just want a gm that will do that. I want a gm who will take all the weight of this, who has the knowhow of leading a community. One that will be active and awesome. What's wrong about electing our gm?

Valashu stepped up first and seems to have the right kind of ideas so im cool with that, like he said GM is'nt much more then a title and I'm sure that between the multiple officers and countless member feedback they will make good decisions and unite the guild in the best way possible. Lets go with this and see what happens, I'm sure we can deal with any problems that arise in future together.

Frankly, it's not in the right spirit to be whining over GM at this point. They made the thread, brought the info together imo they have a good say in it. Still I'd like to see if they'll accept people that step up and do their job better than them. Guilds should be about progress not who's in charge.

1) it's good to have an EU guild 2) it's bad to split the EU community. Or rather - it is not a wise idea to decide about splitting before we actually know the numbers of EU TL players. If we find out we have 40 active players in total, splitting them would remove the fun of an active guild. If we have let's say hundreds of members, then sure, let it split. But newbies/hardcore mix together well as hardcore can often help those new ones a lot. Like a mentorship or general helping. 3) while I don't like a 'self-titled' leadership, someone has to do it in the beginning. There was no thread for EU guild and everyone knew we need it. Or we at least need to talk about it. Now finally someone did it so do not bash him into ground. Later people can vote for a better leader. Give it time. 4) Leader shouldn't have all the power for decisions, and so far it seems Valashu is willing to bend if the community is putting on the pressure, that is good. It's a community guild, we do it for fun and not for arguing. Generally, TL community is quite smart so hopefully there won't be too much trouble. 5) Why not make the joining process like - Come to our TS, talk to us, play with us a bit and we'll send you an invite. There is no need for writing up a page of information. Why should we care what experience does the player have with MMOs? This is not a job application. The guy just wants to join a group of people, play game, learn the game, get better. Or just wants to join for few hours a week and talk to people about starcraft. Why care? Are you going to make a table of people with - This guy wants to be a PvP, this guy played WoW and is not to be taken seriously.. or wut? Also why should it be only 18+? I've been in games with 15-16yo that have been very reasonable and good team players. Of course, there were others that weren't, but you can identify them pretty quickly and they won't be a part of the group anymore. And this is not bound to age, you do that even with those that are over 18. The whole procedure seems silly to me, with the questionaire being the cherry on the top, for a community guild.

1) Definitely. 2) Agreed. 3) Thanks for being understanding, GM is a title, the guild will be a forum and 'we' are here to make sure the wheel is spinning, to guide but not control. 4) I have an idea that I put some effort into making reality, if someone else thinks he can do better than me he is free to help out and later he can apply for leadership. Just wait for the guild to stand on it's own feet before we involve politics. 5) but the game is not out yet but we can make a list with TL'ers whom we can meet in the open beta and once the game releases. the 18+ rule is out the window, I think we can all agree that we want guild members who act mature but an age restriction is not a good way to make this happen.
