Ok guys, it was about time to make a thread about this, and i have to say im really interested in joining the guild if i get to buy a new desktop in time to play gw2.
About the gm stuff that everyone is discussing about, i will share my experience with an ultima online guild we started on a new server like a year ago or something: The man that creates the guild, is the gm, so you CANT vote or something about that, because you pretty much dont know who is who until the guild is created. So, one guy, i think it was Barrin, decided to start making a forum before the server started, and he said he was going to make the guild. Any problems about that? NO. The GM has more options than anyone else, but that doesnt mean that a random guy cant lead the guild. For example, barrin was the GM of that guild, and there was a king's election in a city, so we had to choose someone of TL to represent us, and we should all vote for him. It was done by voting, and we chose barrin not because he was the GM, but because he did a lot of stuff for the guild, and made a lot of events and raids for us, so if by the time the guild is made, people find someone that contributes more than the GM (Valashu or whoever he is), they will follow more that guy even if he isnt even an officer, so the GM problem is not a problem really, i dont get how people are even getting in a discussion about it
About the interview part, i think it was a bit too hardcore too, and im a hardcore player lol, so glad you took it over, as the age restriction, i have played MMOs since i was 12 and seriously, i was more mature than half the people of 18 by then. The hardcore/casual division, makes no sense at all from what i read about the game. Its not la gw where you had to play with your guild to play GvG, so you should have a 8-9 man guild, or rotate, what left people out. In this game you can play the 5v5 competitive stuff with whoever you want from any guild, so no point in dividing the community, if someones want to pvp, you join if you want, you learn something, or teach someone something, and done, if you dont want to join, you just do something else, thats the point imo, to have people to play with w/e you find interesting, know more people, and have a good and mannered community for all of us.
Hope it wasnt that long of a post, and count me in if i get to play the game, also i may bring my gf! P.S: We both played top 200 GvG at somepoint on gw1, and I was on masters while i played SC2 [End of braging about not impressive stuff ]

would love to join a guild were casuals are also accepted! how does the application work exactly? :O

Open beta, I cannot wait.

Hey Guys
I agree with the whole scrap the interview idea considering this is the TL forums. I might think differently about people outside of TL, but I dunno XD I think its cool people are bringing irl friends in tbh The application process should go like so in my mind, although the opinions seem to be fairly divided, just throwing in what I think. Someone posts here "Cool I want to join!" then we should add him to the member list.
This biggest thing is that the last beta which we officially know about the game only had 3 beginner areas up and only went to level 25 open world, with a single level 30 story/35 explorable dungeon. So while its nice to pull it all together and get this ready, we're not exactly close to playing the finished product yet. April is preorders, and you can get into all the other betas if you preorder. Thats whats next. So all our knowledge is based off of that and what Anet tells us. (And my secret knowledge garnered from friends with a nda on them )
Before I sound too commanding, I'd like to add these are just my opinions, and suggestions
On the topic of spliting into hardcore and casual, I sincerely disagree. Even if the member count could support it, GW2 is different. Frankly, if I want to team up with a few guildmates and raid enemy resource camps in the Mists, what difference would it make if the people who wanted to go with me play 5 hours a day, or an hour a week? And if there is a big event planned, why should someone who plays less not be given an equal opportunity to join the event if they have time. This isn't WoW, the raid size is not limited. Atleast, this is what I feel based on what we've seen so far. When it comes to explorable dungeons there probably will be a higher bar for player skill, but to counter this, there are massive dynamic events that we can get a group together to do. Dragon Kebab anyone? =D
Anyways, just wanted to post some thoughts, probably be back in a half hour to think some more and comment on other posts ^^

Attention all,
We've removed the application form due to a lot of misunderstanding going on. Additionally, we've removed the "applicant" tab, so that everyone is now free to join the guild, as of now. Our main goal is still to create a solid Teamliquid community-guild, and that we will do. As of today, we'll now accept anyone who would like to join our ranks!
Additionally, we've added a Updates tab to the main-post, that we will use to help everyone understand what we're doing on-the-fly. Stop by the main-post and have a look.

This was thought up quite fast and I do appreciate the feedback. Please know we are working on it and read the three pages before you decide to give your opinion. I'm probably going to join up regardless, I have one question though. Can I get my RL friend that does not play SC2 to tag along. He's experienced in MMORPG's just like I am. WoW, Aion and Rift under his belt.
Hello Frail, and thank you for your question.
Yes, friends of friends are more than welcome, as long as the person who reccomends his or her friend can vouch for the person joining. I'll add you to the list right away!

Hey Pantythief The video links disappeared, was that intentional? Shall I otherwise grab the top ten link to put under useful links?

Thank you, this is shaping up to become a really fun thing. Can't wait for the beta now, watching videos can only get me so far! haha

I'm trying to make it fit into the thread, at the moment. Doesn't seem like it will, though.

Thats a shame, I really liked how it was looking =D
Oh well. I guess I'll get back to spellchecking =P

"Everything is subject to change, if you have any suggestions please send a private message to either Pantythief or Valashu, or leave a post in the thread below. We'll do all we can to answer all of your questions."
I'm open to questions as well ^^ I'll be on alot more now the thread is up
Love the new image btw, much more feeling to it than the white one. Can you otherwise leave the link to the top ten reasons, it really helps explain to people who don't know why GW2 is gunna be so different and epic. Personally, its what made me so interested in gw2. The video would be nice too, perhaps place it a bit lower, or do you think it'll slow peoples loading time too much?

It's a shame the direction this took. Open a club up to everyone and it quickly dilutes into a large mass of people without similar interests sharing little more then the same guild tag above their heads and same guild chat channel. Iv seen it happen before and it will happen again in this instance. This is going to end up being little more then a zerg of people following the masses split into separate groups of people that play together as they knew each other previously.
What I wanted was a community of SC fans that could discuss the latest GSL while defending the TL keep at 2AM in the morning.
Also why relinquish the GM spot?
Someone had to stand up and do it I was perfectly happy with it being Valashu however now we are left with "founders" and no GM?
What does the title of "founder" even mean and why do you care about it?

I'm all for Valashu being the GM. However, we don't even have a guild in the physical virtual sense =P Only a thread on the forums. The whole founders idea I think is more about how we are taking care of this thread. Atleast, thats how I see it. Bickering now about who is GM is both pointless and embarrassing. I'm sure when GW2 is actually about to come out, these kind of things will become more important. I stand behind Valashu as I have been in a guild run by him a long time ago, and I know he is, as mentioned early, very willing to listen and truly is dedicated to the enjoyment of the game. But enough political campaigns for now =P

Let's not be so negative. There is plenty of room for improvement and our ideas are not better than others. As of now Valashu is in charge. Per definition, he is currently the Guild-master, but since the game is not released yet and this is still just a forum, we have chosen to not make a big deal out of it.

I don't understand your question. We all share the same interest of StarCraft and it'll still be a big part of us. But we're not making this guild to discuss StarCraft in the middle of a fantasy world. I can only speak for myself, but I certainly will talk about StarCraft. :-)

We're founders, we take the first step, we make this happen, we're entrepreneurs. We have plenty of time to rightfully claim Valashu our Guild-master, but we have things to discuss and commitments to be made. This is between the founders and is the reason we do not officially announce it.
