Why does the same actions don't always have the same effects ? Why does the game tells you that you "earn a lot of money" when your budget is negative. A lot of things make me feel the game is just more or less random and that there is no real simulation engine behind it. What's with those 30000 minutes waiting times at the airport. It seems they never played their own game. In terms of earning money, the budget doesn't calculate in your revenue from trading. There certainly is a simulation behind it, but it's far from perfect and pretty simple really. And of course there has to be some randomness to it, just like in the real world.
Regions also seem to effect each other a large deal which may explain residential areas. I would not be 100% sure, though I don't think everything is random, just works very differently and ...complicated to say the least since Maxis has explained little.

You're telling companies it's ok to make shit games like this one, because you will buy it anyway. The first reviews have been nothing but positive. The game had a 91 on metascore. Not a single soul that played (and streamed) the beta had complaints about the game.. And even as the game was released it took days(!) before people even began complaining about the actual gameplay. Please inform yourself before making silly statements like that.
You're supposed to wait a few days when it's such a uncertain thing like an EA GAME. Holy shit people just go and buy new EA games without expecting it to be utter shit? You guys are unbelievable.
It was known since long ago that EA doesn't let Maxis do what they want with the game and that's why I waited with buying it, and now I don't have to waste money.
I'm a huge Sim City 4 fan, played countless hours and downloaded tons of mods, but I will never buy this shit EA game.

You've got two problems with your post:
1) We saw the game in beta, and it was great 2) Maxis took the hit for this. Don't blame EA. Maxis gave all buyers a free game to pass the time until they got all their shit fixed. I've never seen another company do that, especially not EA.

That's because no other company has come close to failing this hard with a single player game launch.

And then exposed by the community for blatantly lying about the game's constraints and design features.

Maxis does whatever the hell they want, and EA writes the checks. In fact, the NOC team for EA informed Maxis daily that their always online wasn't going to fly without substantial investment into servers and architecture.
But hey, it's all EA's doing.

I also thought EA was to blame for horrible DRM requirements, but this really is Maxis' problem, and sending us a free NEW game is the way companies should be apologizing to their customers. Blizzard, in comparison, should be giving early investors of D3 a free hots upgrade or D3 expansion down the road in comparison.

So I need to find a new region to play. All the cities around me have gone 100% residential. While I'm sure they didn't mean to, it's griefing me with mass traffic from people looking for work, and possible extra crime. It's an old SS, but i'm always geting 1.2 million people visiting me.

And one city is running nuclear power while we have Solar Farm great work (why???)
People paid their money and can play the game any way they like, I'm just asking if there is a region with more active people.

is there any possibility to connect those 4-town-blocks in larger regions? its so stupid... effectively everything is jsut a 4-city blcok... why do then 16-city regions at all?

I think the 7 region block is all connected

How do you fix the trade depot bug where it won't export? Bulldozing and rebuilding it does nothing. Switching between use locally and export/import does nothing. What the fuck Maxis? How does a bug that renders the game unplayable slip through testing?

I agree that the 4 city block thing is dumb. What is the one where it's 7 cities connected?

I know in my city a trade depot won't work because traffic is a parking lot coming in and going out of my city. The truck has to also make the return trip before you can trade again. So I just stick with my Sea trade port.
|
Uh... it has nothing to do with traffic. The trucks are simply not doing shit. This is similar to the recycling plant bug as well where it just simply stops producing materials so you end up with full storage and the trucks don't do shit.
I basically have a useless piece of land in my region now because recycling will never get collected so the entire city will be covered in ground pollution.

Nope. I never had that happen to me. Sorry.

People actually believe the crap the EA pres was saying? That somehow EA had "no say" in swaying the development of Simcity? LOL, the most laughable thing I've ever heard.

There are already EA hate threads, please keep this thread about playing SimCity... Anyway, to the guy who had problem with too much people commuting to his city, zone way less industry, if there are no jobs in your city, people wont commute...

So you're telling the guy who wants a normal city but can't because everyone is going 100% residential, to go even more residential and copy everyone else.

The "island" one, where you can see the highway goes through all 7 cities.
As a rule of thumb, if you can SEE the highway connecting multiple cities, then they are connected.
I would really like to see us be able to place buildings everywhere on the island though, and I wouldn't mind realistic limitations such as certain zones un-zonable for residential, or high density.
but I would REALLY like to see one-way roads, and avenues with left/right turning lanes. Also, emergency vehicle u-turn lanes, and lastly intersections where we can put the stop signs. I mean, if it exists in real life, and it super useful, why can't maxis program it?
