BG2 enhances might be worth it, BG1 isnt THAT good a game. Many people think BG1 is the better game, myself included. It is far less linear than BG2, no argument there.
Yeah but the story and characters are infinitely better in BG2. Jon Irenicus. Plus there is ultimately more stuff to do. Plus Jon Irenicus. Did I mention Jon Irenicus.

I enjoyed the open world exploration in BG1, that was missing in BG2 especially TOB.I also found baldurs gate to be more interesting than Athkatla.BG2 is still a great game though. Here is a thread from BG forum discussing which is better game. http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/1466/baldurs-gate-1-better-then-baldurs-gate-2/p1

I have forgotten how frustrating low level fights in BG can be.
I recruited the wild mage Neera and in the next battle she got 1-shotted by a lone bandit on the first shot and instantly died. Modern games have made me forget how important quick save is, BG1 is a great reminder.

Ya, Baldur's Gate is really brutal when your low level. Gotta remember those moments when you get owned by a random couple of wolves, after just getting killed one minute before in a waylay then coming across some bad bastard who proceeds to one shot you. Good times though.

That's your opinion, still though for many gamers (with good taste) it will go down as an all time classic rpg.

I think if one were amongst the fortunate crowd who bought BG1 as a wide-eyed adolescent when it first was released (myself included), and you had that gigantic tri-folder with the 5 or 6 CD's, the franchise will always hold a special place in your heart. That being said, the game play was immersive, the characters had memorable personality, the freedom allotted to the player was unprecedented. I could ramble on to no end of the glory that is Baldur's Gate. It speaks markedly of the industry today that a game from 1998 (2000 for BG2) is still vastly more enjoyable than much of the overpriced drivel shoveled onto the marketplace and force fed to consumers. Staying power is a quality seemingly lost in the scrambled race to the bottom.

I called in sick today and I want to play this SOOO badly but I'm too cheap to pay $20.00. I'll settle for 50% off which will hopefully be next sale.

Im having the exact same experience again as with my original playthrough's of BG1 : I enter the city and the game gets less enjoyable. I love the whole series, hell I've finished BG2+TOB more than any other game.
But in BG1 I fall in love with the countryside the nature, the sound of the weather/birds/ambience. And then I get to the city in last chapter.. I still love it, but I have to force myself the 'new beginning' of the game. Anybody else also suffers from this Kivan effect?

Waiting an Android version to play it on my Nexus 7

I'm with you. The weather effects and terrain you discover while roaming the countryside are very nice imo. With so much of the game taking place outside Baldur's Gate, it really does feel like loading game #2 once you are able to enter the city. Even going back to Candlekeep sort feels like an extension of Baldur's Gate.

Don't forget part of that 20$ will be an investment in Baldurs gate 3.

Now that it is on steam, I consider buying this. I wanted to do that before, but the posts about the reduced spawning frequencies kinda held me off, did this got fixed now?

IMO, I thought that particular fix was a good thing. There were issues with TotSC (and all it's associated mods) where a pack of ridiculous spawns would overwhelm you before you could even make it to the Friendly Arms Inn. I know I always dreaded that moment. There were other instances too, like travelling south from Beregost to reach Nashkel. Sometimes an overwhelming number of bandits with a couple wolves would spawn in a perfect, wide circle around your party. Even 6 members in your party, I'd say the odds are heavily against you winning that surprise encounter. Maybe it's just me.
