Do you have integrated Intel graphics card? Currently the game does not work well with those.

They said they plan to fix this problem but it will take more time because Inter graphics don't support OpenGL, only DirectX and the game is made for Open GL.

As someone that usually play a modded version of BG1, is there anypoint to this ? I guess there is some extra-content but I can already get a truckload of stuff free with mods. I assume old mods do not work on BG:EE.

Well guys ran into my first serious game breaking bug.Isle of Balduran (TOTSC content) there is a townperson there who you are able to initiate romantic dialogue with. This is the same person who will ask you to collect some flowers - point is i selected the "wrong" options and she ran off. This is not meant to happen as this person is required for you to finish the final quest - the correct action would be for her to end current dialogue and remain where she is.
Apparently this only happens with male characters not female and it is fixable through some kind of game editor.I am not sure of the exact details on how to fix it but there is a thread about it on the BG forums and it is a known issue.Just a heads up be wary of the encounter.

For the steam fanatics out there that skipped the game because it was not available on your favorite platform, it now is! No excuse to not buy the game, especially since they've now fixed most of the annoying bugs.

i would say not paying 20 euro(!!!) for a bundle of free mods is a pretty good excuse :p
BG2 enhances might be worth it, BG1 isnt THAT good a game.

If you got a 20% discount from GamersGate for their price glitches during the winter sale season, you can get $4 off for a steam-activated copy there.

Cool, thanks for the info, I just bought it on Steam after reading this :D

BG2 enhances might be worth it, BG1 isnt THAT good a game. Many people think BG1 is the better game, myself included. It is far less linear than BG2, no argument there.

And even more people think BG2 is the masterpiece of the series. Personally I think BG2 is superior in nearly every aspect. Don't see how BG2 is far more linear. It just has the better main plot. There is tons of optional quests and areas which you can tackle whenever u want. Only thing it's missing are 50 random forest areas.
Just played thru the first one when BG:EE was released and realized again how much more i like BG2

I like BG2 more than BG1, but that does not make BG1 any less brilliant. And the series/story as a whole is one of the best experiences I had in any media (including books and movies).

The NPC banter in BG2 is just so well done. Depends who you have but either way you get to laugh a lot(edwin, jan, minsc ftw) and explore some interesting characters(haer'dalis, Viconia DeVir<3, keldorn...)
Also the voice acting is just superb, I still can't believe Haer'Dalis is actually Raziel from Soul Reaver and Medivh from Warcraft.

True, BG1 was still a great game. Just makes it more remarkable that BG2 managed to be even better.

The AD&D rules have something to do with that as well. Low level battles are pretty uninteresting until more spells become available. I'd say it doesn't really get interesting until level 3-4 spells become available.

mate what you talkin' bout? Chromatic Orb bro
CHROMATIC FUCKIN' ORB

CHROMATIC FUCKIN' ORB Is bad. I tried using it a lot in my BGEE play but enemies so rarely fail the save. If you read the description all targets get +6 bonus to save against this spell and if they save the effect is pathetic and waste of casting. I don't like the spell. Due to this bonus and its powerful effects as it levels it is hit or miss spell. Those are less interesting.

Yeah, Chromatic Orb is a useful spell if you're a solo sorcerer/wizard in BG2, but outside of that Magic Missile is way more consistent in the series.

You cant throw out a comment comparing two games and then get butthurt when someone else gives his opinion and talks about the other game. What kind of logic is that? The thread isnt about what you want it to be.
If you like BG1 more that's fine but at the same token i can prefer BG2 and give my opinion as i see fit. And yes, I'm gonna pat myself on the back for that.
