20$ for a new quest, 3 chars, fixes that mods have probably done for years and garbage graphics.
An improved and updated engine that will bring tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands to one of the best, if not THE best RPG of all time that would have not played it otherwise due to its inaccessibility? A shit ton of bug fixes and enhancements along with this new engine and new quest chain with new characters and voice overs? Better support for native widescreen and HD? With what appears to be little to no DRM?
You have got to be seriously kidding me if you are saying this isn't worth $20. Especially for people who have never played Baldurs Gate before or haven't played it in years. I mean did you even read it? Much more mod support is being given, the source code has been improved and sped up and cleaned up, improved multiplayer, and an updated interface that struggled with the widescreen mod. Not to mention that "new quest" gives:
• A stand-alone adventure set deep within the Underdark • Fifteen levels of arena-style combat challenges • Full control and customization of up to six party members • Over 6 hours of additional gameplay
6 hours of additional gameplay. So let's say 5-8 depending on how fast you burn through it and difficulty.
How anyone can call this a ripoff is just beyond me. If it was $60, $40, or maybe $30 I might agree with you. But 20 fucking dollars is a steal for 6 additional hours of content, an improved engine with bug fixes and a bunch of other cool new shit. That will be even more enticing to major RPG fans who never had the opportunity to play this before.
EDIT: Fun fact, did you know the new character gives an entire new area and a new adventure as well?
• The Monk Rasaad yn Bashir, a new NPC to join your party • A new playable adventure • New area: the Cloud Peaks
FOUR additional hours. That's 10 fucking hours of new content. That's not even counting the other two characters who both also promise 5 hours of new gameplay. That can be upwards of 20 HOURS of new content. You're telling me 20 hours of new content, new characters, new voice overs, new graphics and a new engine with massive bug fixes and major steps to modernizing the game isn't worth $20?

I hope they remake this game with a 2012 engine 3d style modern RPG.

For $20 it's a crazy amazing deal. I'd sure as hell take it. BG is such a good games. They just don't make RPGs this good anymore. ME series is a ragdoll in comparison to BG, best RPG ever to grace a PC.

Exactly. I'd pay $60 for a 20 hour RPG on the tier of Baldurs Gate, let alone a huge remake like this and 20 additional new hours with a bunch of new content and dialogue and characters. Hell, they usually lowball those accounts for the casual players. It's probably upwards of 30 combined hours on the hardest and taking your time exploring and shit. Which is just amazing.
I cant wait.

I believe they did the Irenicus dungeon and it looks pretty damn good. Black Isle would have been better of just hiring those guys to re-do BG 2 instead of doing a pos like DA2. But I guess when you are trying to monetize your IP by turning it into some kind of console only action shooter to tap into the vital-yet-brain-dead CoD loving 14 year old guys market sacrifices have to be made.

How can there be so much hatred in this topic? Feel ashamed.

Oh man I could almost buy an Ipad just to be able to play this on the train.

Deal looks amazing to me. BG2 is my fav game of all time and 3 new chars and a new zones and quests + the game itself is an amazing deal.
Def interested in the new Blackguard kit.

Not getting the PC version, but I might get it on Android, $10 seems like a more reasonable price.

I'm also more intested by the tablet (ipad) version, I can already play BG2 on my PC and have a lot of very good computer to play on it as well whereas you have nothing that can compare to BG2 on Ipad. If the controls are decent I think that it could be a great thing to play on while commuting.

I was expecting a rip off, like 40$ or something but this is quite good. If they'll continue to support it and make BG2/other IE games it will be a blast.
Really interested about the new characters!!

I picked up Balder's gate at a garage sale for $2 couple of years ago, and played the shit out of that. With this coming up, I am very very stoked for this!

What are the chances of immediate support for the current mods? I'm desperate to play this but dont want to blow through it without any difficulty mods!
|
Im scared for mod support , and i dont know if the new characters and storylines will really fit into the unique feel of the game.
i remain sceptical
