Known about the game since it came out (it got a ridicuously good review in swedish PC gamer) but I never got into it, first of all because I was too young to enjoy it properly anyway, and also because I had paid for baldurs gate and didn't like it enough to want a game like it. Playing it now, feels sort of weird. One has to have high expectations because of how hyped it always has been, at the same time, I've always known about it and never had the urge to play it, so it's not like I'm hyped anyway. Atm, I've only just gotten out of the morgue, which I fucked up royally by sounding the alarm as soon as I got to the third floor. That's sort of the problem I have with PS:T and BG games etc... you can fuck up to the point where it's "oh you missed out on this good stuff because you picked the wrong dialog option, sucks to be you". That's sort of the charm with these kinds of games, they really let you chose what to do and then you live with the consequences... at the same time, the internet has broken this kind of style because the massive wealth of information. You're not blissfully unaware, you know you fucked up. I sounded the alarm and noticed how EVERYONE attacked me, so I checked online, and indeed, you can easily beat the whole thing without sounding that alarm, which gives you a ton of people to talk to, puzzles etc... instead, I just got a lot of blood on my hands. This makes me want to reload and do it again, which will just mess up the whole point of the game, so I won't, and instead I'm left with this nagging feeling that I missed out. It's frustrating. one thing, i hope your nameless one has high INT, if not i would recommend you restart. with low int you miss out on TONS of dialogue options. Enemies are really badass, not like in other games when u have to set "nightmare" mode or something with 1 hit you're dead crap difficulty. I honestly miss those battles when the game turned into a really turn based strategy battles with a shitload of options for both sides, those imba vampires that fuk your level, those backstabers that suddently take your 80% lifebar, and those godly mages with time stop, fire protection, meteor storm, demon gates and , why not, another time stop, lol.

Those restoration spells running out while tons of vamps flood you. Epic stuff. This game was incredibly hard if played legit. I mean really, really hard. Difficulty in RPGs nowadays is mostly based on the ability of the enemy to instagib you, abilities are mostly repetitive, cyclic, or uninteresting. BG2 required true strategy to win some battles.

Indeed, hardest difficulty was really hard. The anoying thing about level drain was the fact you had to do your stupid spellbook again after each drain :p I cant say i have had many games today where i have had to use quickload as many times as BG

I am tired of seeing great classic IPs getting remade into FPS RPGs clones or whatever the fuck FPS gimmick, just look at the new Syndicate and the now in limbo development XCOM fps for example, then there is Fallout 3 which I personally would've preferred as an isometric view RPG, its main storyline quests were also disappointing.

http://www.destructoid.com/the-weekend-modder-s-guide-baldur-s-gate-1-2-222096.phtml I can start BG1 from BG2, but the intro doesn't work and all the text in the game is wrong and makes no sense. When you talk to the first old man in the inn, he literally says "squeek" with a sound effect... must be that the text from the games is all messed up. This pisses me off, I literally spent hours to install everything and it still didn't work. How can this NOT be a one-click installer by now?

Iirc there is an installer that does pretty much everything for you, you just have to select the mods you want, don't remember the name though. You could always google it.^o^

"Shadowy Figure- Raise Dead : Infinity Engine For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. And then... it returned. Better than it was before. Pore over the tapestries and works of art hanging from our walls if you wish, Child of Bhaal... perhaps you will find a clue. But patience, ah... patience would reveal it all. As the silver moon waxes and wanes, so too does life." Raise dead : Infinity engine? If that means what it sounds like...then...holy ****

Hmmm I installed it recently on win vista 64 with no problem... Installed BG1 and BG2 with the CDs then patchs then used Big World for the mods and bug fix

You could always google it.^o^ I found something called EasyTutu which is apparently a one-click installer which basically takes your installations of BG1 and BG2 and create a "new" BGTutu which is both games in BG2 engine... I'm going to assume that it includes enough that I won't have to worry about modding it.
