I think it takes some context of living here. Minnesota and Wisconsin are rivals in EVERYTHING. NCAA Football, NCAA Hockey, NFL, MLB (pre-transfer), etc. And in Wisconsin we refer to Illinois residents as FIBs.

I live in Madison now, so I do know "FIB" and am surrounded by Wisconsin and GB fans. I see how it can be fun to be a serious sports fan, but I still think everyone needs to be able to take a step back every now and then and realize fans of other sports teams aren't terrible people just because they grew up or live somewhere else.

Vikings fans are incredibly disrespectful when they come to Green Bay. It's not like this vitriol was spawned out of nowhere. The Bears are our traditional rivals, but our disdain for Vikings fans comes from their behavior in our hometown. Even Bears fans are more respectable despite their annoying habits and self-importance.

Somehow I feel I will be unable to change your mind, but judging an entire category of people based on the actions of a few, especially when you are only looking at the behavior of a few people in an emotionally charged atmosphere in which everyone is drinking heavily, is pretty foolish. For every Bear fan who fits your stereotypes I bet I can find at least one who doesn't. As with any prejudice against a group of people based on stereotypes, it's going to be wrong most of the time, but people will be heavily influenced by their confirmation bias and the prejudiced beliefs will persist.

The case of football fan prejudice seems particularly silly to me.

Hang out at the stadium bars in GB the next time the Vikes come visit. You'll understand then. Other fans are respectful and enjoy our drunken revelry, Vikings fans are obnoxious with the sole intent of agitating. Every time I hear that f'ing horn blow outside Lambeau I want to steal it away and smash it down that fans throat.

Sure, it's a small subgroup of Vikings fans. But they are also the biggest Vikings fans and I know seeing the Vikings lose crushes their souls. And I've yet to meet a Vikings fan I like (bias or not).

I never said we were "more respectable". I just explained why I hate Vikings fans. I'll be the first to admit I won't hold the door open for some schmuck wearing a Favre Viking jersey. I'm not pretending to take the high road in this one, so don't misrepresent me as being hypocritical.

Right. Bandwagon fans. We sold out a stadium of 50,000-70,000 since 1960, despite being in a city that barely had that many people. "In the 24 seasons from 1968 to 1991, the Packers had only five seasons with a winning record (above .500), one being the shortened 1982 strike season. They appeared in the playoffs twice during that period, with a record of 1–2." Yet we always sell out. The Vikes can't even do that.

Packers fans are one of the most dedicated fanbases in all of sports. Name a single other franchise that has built a stadium off of fan donations.

No kidding. I got on the waiting list at age 10. If the current rate holds, I won't get season tickets until I'm 90 at the earliest

I would feel bad for him if he would just consitently suck so we can get a new QB in Dallas... His stats in games that don't matter are great which is why he gets to keep his job... The bottom line though is when it counts he sucks, Dallas will never go far with Romo and it kills me to see them waste a talented team.
