They'll be a better team, but you still have to remember they were a 32-50 team last year. They'll need to find ~14 more wins just to get the 8th seed. ~25 more wins for top 2. Chris Paul will do wonders for them, but I think if they make a mid seed in the West, they'll be doing well. Top 8 in West last year: 1 San Antonio Spurs 2 Los Angeles Lakers 3 Dallas Mavericks 4 Oklahoma City Thunder 5 Denver Nuggets 6 Portland Trail Blazers 7 New Orleans Hornets 8 Memphis Grizzlies They'll be better than the Hornets and prob the Nuggets, but I can't see them above the other 6. I think they're going to struggle with squad depth given it will be a hectic season.

Blake Griffin's defense looked a little raw out there. The Lakers getting #2 is one hell of an ambition. Dallas has the best shot along with OKC at being top spots. This kid has magic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4SmD79yRJc It's exciting but nothing about that was very special, except how the ball hit that guy in the face afterwards. That's the best part, imo. The Clippers were fun to watch last night.

and to be fair to the Clippers last year, they started off really bad and got it together towards the end, finishing the year strong. They were just too in-the-hole from the early season. I see the Clips getting anywhere from 3rd to 8th, specially with a shortened, compacted season where the young, running teams have a little bit of an advantage. Only reason it is hard to tell is because a) they have Brian Cook backing up Griffin(lol, they need some backup bigs) b) their defense needs some work on. Seems like they can PnR all day tho. Chris Paul might not be a running, high tempo PG but man is he a beast with acute vision.

Only problem is mike brown. I never thought he was a good coach and i doubt he's gonna bring anything to the lakers. His coach of the year was ridiculous and he's probably the most overrated coach in the league.

That didn’t sit well with Kobe Bryant or other Lakers. Odom was a very popular teammate and a guy the locker room trusted to show up in big games. On a team where Kobe is the bad cop and Derek Fisher the good cop, Odom was the guy who put his arm around you and talked to you like a brother. Plus he went to the #1 team in the league. The Lakers can be good, but I don't think they'll overtake the Mavs.

As for the Lakers, I'm expecting a very tough regular season for them. A brand new system on both offense and defense and the loss of a playmaker like LO, combined with the addition of many new pieces and little time to familiarize with everything, is going to make for some major struggles. I think they have the talent to still contend, but I could see them finishing as a 4th seed simply because of all the losses they're going to have as a result of learning during the season in a compressed schedule. Hopefully, they'll have worked out most of the kinks by the time the playoffs come around with everyone healthy, at which point I think they can still do some serious damage.

My point is, teams actually play against LAL, against LAC the games were more of a day off in the big city, than anything else, especially once the Clips started off 1-12. Whether its the same this year, who knows, but I still feel there are many other teams which garner more respect than LAC.
