Is ways around the "daily crap"
For example;
I recently ding'd my mage to 90, only had to do one set of dailies (dominance offensive ones) and that is more than enough rep to get 3 decent 496 items. Gloves/Belt/Ring. Also gives 458 trinket. You only need revered too i think it took me about a 2 weeks to do that (bout 30minutes a day doing dailies)
The rest is just the usual farming heorics to get gear on top and LFR. About two weeks it would take a casual player to get a char to about 470-475ilevel, and that is pretty mediocre. Then you can pug the proper raids.
On the is Monk any good. It is a hell of a lot different in the healing sense i believe, many people said the healing side of it is fun. And with it being a tank/dps/healer character i would say it defiantly is a good idea to start with one.
They have also nerfed the leveling from 0-80 and it won't take that long leveling. Think 5days for 2-3hours a night and your 80. I will probably make a monk when i cba but atm just chilling casually raiding %_%
Also 5.2 patch will be out in 2-3 weeks time and that has some sick looking new area, and even i am getting intrigued in the story of this expansion with Garrosh being the main person XD

While I haven't gotten back into WoW again (haven't been since up b4 WotLK came out), reading up on the lore has gotten me slightly intrigued. Always been quite intrigued by the lore of the Diablo/SC/WC series.

monk healing any good?
i have that little "play a healer in an mmo" itch again.
I tried Rift, but the engine is so freaking clunky, hard to enjoy.
Or Druid? Though i dont like the Moonkin form very much.

Moonkin is the druid dps (magic) form.
Treeform is their healing form.

I have a feeling it will last a while. The last time I played I was only level 40-something, in fact I never even owned a mount. Things are definitely moving fast though, it's only been a few days and I'm already level 40 again.

40 man raids were the worst.
after every pull some clown had to "just quick afk". After my second raid i lost it, which is pretty rare.

I still haven't fathomed monk healing yet it confuses me....You can heal via dps'n it seems and using the free cast with heavy damage, but i have only leveled one up to 66 at the moment and have had 0 trouble in dungeons. Might be a different story when i get to heorics etc but i have no problems with them so far.

Priest
Druid
Paladin
Shaman
Monk
IMO, but Priest is like miles ahead as the best class in Panda. DPS burst is fucking insane for PvP and DPS in general is competitive PVE, and the healing for both PVP and PVE is just stupidly good.

Having a normal and heroic mode for every boss killed raiding for me. Blizzard did such a good job with raiding in TBC and I dont feel that change was called for. Totally removed the epicness of first kills.

IMO, the worst addition to WoW is one that no one ever talks about.
Paid Realm and Paid Faction transfers.
It has slowly but surely killed realm communities, especially the old ones from launch and has created an immense faction imbalance problem across every single one of the largest realms in the US.
Check wowcensus. Every major realm in the US is either incredibly Horde dominated or Alliance dominated, there aren't any that are balanced.

Xrealm everything killed realm communities. Back in vanilla you knew the people or at least knew of them that you met in your everyday play, be it world, bg or raids, both factions.

I stopped playing toward the end of Sunwell in TBC, Our guild got relatively 'stuck' on Muru - I think we got him once.
Not long after, they released a giaaaaaaant nerf hammer on Sunwell and it all became trivial again.
That was pretty much when I realised that the amount of effort to stay ahead of the 'nerf curve' wasnt really enough for me to want to keep playing/raiding.
Loved my time playing it, but as others said, the original realms etc with 'elite players' that had an almost legend/myth behind them... you'd occasionally see them port in from a raid dungeon you havent even seen yet and idolise their character before they went off and werent seen for another week or so. It just made it seem more like a real scenario, rather than a heap of nobodise with random alts and shit all floating around namelessly queuing for crossrealm dungeons.

Yep, we had only 3 Guilds on our Server that had their raids attuned to Black Temple. You were quite Special when you had Tier6, when most of Players were still in The Eye/Serpentshrine Caverns.
But thats all nostalgia. The MMO Genre is dead - thanks to WoW! -.-
