Also, does this mean I'm going to have to actually update the OP now? Just means you have to make an entire subforum for us now ![]() On January 14 2015 09:39 Blitzkrieg0 wrote: 101 points no promotion. I swear you only get promoted in this game when you bottom frag. I guess the big one is the first one: Q: First off all, my outmost respect to you for making this thread considering the witch hunt you've been the victim of the last months. I'm not accusing you of cheating, bust i must admit that all those "aimlocks" are pretty ridiculous, i assume you have seen the gifs and clips and what not there is on the internet, my question is this: How would you react if all these threads were about another player, and not you or any one in your team? Would you think he is cheating or would you believe him if he used the same explanation as you do/did with the mouse lifting? A: I wouldn't care about it at all until i see a vac ban or any other anticheat ban for that matter, doesnt matter if he doesnt explain the situations or if he does, i will not think anyone cheats until i see a anticheat ban or if its like yolo aimbotting/walling. And as already discussed in Reddit, it comes down to what else than VAC we've got. VAC isn't even meant to be an aggressive catch-all solution, it's meant to be a general purpose obstacle that forces cheaters to put some effort into remaining undetected. A lot of weight put onto ESEA anticheat that we know very little about, I guess. In general it's nice to see some a bit more thought answers from any top tier gamer, but I didn't find anything particularly curious on the AMA so far. Going to keep an eye on it though.

I definitely think a subforum would be safer, but at the same time, it would never grow. Creating a new forum would be a more daring and long-term solution, as the csgo community lacks a well-modded forum : hltv.org has awful posting quality, reddit is a circlejerk and threads disappear quickly, all the others are small or very niche (fragbite is for sweden, vakarm for france, esea etc). If a csgopedia can be created (possibly from kniferound.net), and the community grown here (threads for tournaments, live reporting etc), I think it could be beneficial to give it a shot. Don't know how it would be advertised tho.

I get lost in that thread when I spend 48h out of it, and we can't have a continued discussion on a topic since it gets buried so fast. It would encourage a lot of write-ups and interaction. I don't believe TL has enough editors (yet ?) to warrant a full-fledged forum/dedicated website. Maybe if you gather a few ? There is definitely a hole to fill since reddit is just reddit, HLTV is full of shit and the website is pretty ooooooooooold, but since it's pretty much the only resources for stats and live matches/streams, everybody's there... forum is useless at HLTV though. TL/DR : subforum, see how it goes. If in let's say 2/3months a few editors come up as likely staff, or if you can manage to find some : make the big jump, a spot is there to take.

Is it possible to try subforum and if it gets even bigger, move to a fully fledged site?

Yeah, I can second this very much. As far as I can tell, there's a pretty serious need for a well moderated, clean CS:GO forum. HLTV.org is the collection of worst bits of internet forum activity and from that point on I don't think there's any good all-around resource. Someone with more experience on ESEA and such can probably give more insight on the alternatives to hltv.org.

The problem with a subforum is that its exposure will be practically nil. It will be "lost" somewhere on the main website and no one outside of people already browsing TL.net will ever use it. The advantage is that it would be more adapted to the immediate needs of the people that will be using it. The problem with a new forum is that it would be quite empty at the beginning and that there is no telling that it would actually grow or garner a community outside of the existing one here. The advantage would be that in the long term it could grow and fill the void that currently exist in the csgo forum space.

So what are the 3 main english speaking portals for CSGO? There's HLTV, ESEA forums, and Reddit (That i can think right off the top of my head). Now, at the time of writing, Reddit has 154,737 confirmed subscribers and is basically in the top 100 subreddits ranking wise so it garners alot of traffic. HLTV's facebook page has 123,771 likes so let's say that HLTV has about 200,000 viewers unique viewers a month or a year, whatever. Now, ESEA forums aren't that big at all but ESEA has something like 20k subscribers? Now, remember that the primary complaint of the CSGO community is that there's actually no good place for quality CSGO discussions. HLTV is full of shit, Reddit now has too many karma whores and what not, and ESEA forums are limited to esea subscribers, so access there is a problem for those who don't want to hand over the $7 a month. The point to be made is to answer the question of traffic for CSGO related media with that yes, there's a lot of traffic for CSGO media that we can tap into. So, we have an angle to attack this. Everyone in e-sports knows about the quality of Teamliquid forums, with the mods enforcing rules and as a result, we have the best forums. Let's say that teamliquid has its own portal. We're talking at least a 100,000 visitors when the news around it comes. That's a lot of traffic to tap into. With that potential figures, you can have the CSGO squad we now have start working on content for the site, have guys like us who already have an investment into the CSGO community of TL help with modding or what not, and you'll definitely start to have a lot of writing submissions and writers wanting to help out because who doesn't want to be featured or at least have their works featured on Teamliquid? That's a lot of pride in doing that because of what Teamliquid represents. Content generation isn't a problem at all as CSGO is rapidly gaining grounds on the big 3, league dota and SC2, and now possibly surpassing them. This is a great time for teamliquid to get involved with a complete portal. What about problem? What if it flops? I personally don't think it'll flop. there's a massive demand for a well moderated place to discuss CSGO. Lack of content? You got all the weapons in the game, you got all the maps, you got the massive amount of tournies popping up, you got a lot of coverage that can take place. Ok, what about fluff? That's a non-issue, rage, funny clips, demo reviews, and tips/tricks is an easy way to generate discussions. What about modding? That might be a problem as CSGO or the CS 1.6 community never really had a well moderated place to go so they may not be used to it. Another problem with taht is how many mods are actively available to mod CSGO? Most mods afaik have experience in what they are modding so they have a good background about what is shit posting and what is passable for a post. Of course there's going to be shit posts that anyone can detect, but you'll need to up the mods. So, Yes, do it. It'll be one of the best investments for you to make Nazgul. You already made a league portal which actually got me interested in the game and I've started posting there already as a result. Your biggest challenge will be good editors and mods, but if you have the news guys from ESEA/HLTV work with you on generating quality content or recruit locally here for that, then that is a non-issue. if you read my post history, i already ranted about wanting a portal for CSGO so please make my dream happen ![]()
