http://counter-strike-go.fr/index.php?file=news&idnews=74 I'm probably not going to play this mode that much tbh, and the new maps valve added to source weren't exactly winners either. (de_port, cs_compound) maybe they'e just forgotten how to make good maps?

The best maps either came from before Valve bought CS by the likes of Barney and others or from independent leagues like the CPL maps and updated revisions. The only thing their mappers have been able to do decently are revisions such as Inferno, and even there they're hit or miss. The official Valve only maps, though, are really bad. Storm, Torn, Chateau, Piranesi, Airstrip, etc. Tbh the Sourceish maps are a legitimate complaint. We'll see how they play out in actual competition but i have a hard time seeing how stuff like the dust2 long a doors or CT balcony on train can be positive features for map balance. And there's just no reason to have c confidence in their people since they've never made good competitive maps before.

Yupp http://web.archive.org/web/20060219153832/www.counter-strike.net/maps.html Pretty much all the popular maps for both public and tournament play were made by independant/league map makers. Valve has no clue when it comes to maps.

Militia too, used to LAN that so often with my friends, sources Militia changes ruined it, there was no point going right out of CT spawn, because it took forever to get to the house and the T's would be set up. At least on 1.6 and the xbox version it was viable.

I think the beta needs more players and some sort of matchmaking queue with friends or even for full teams, as currently you have to either search simultaneously and hope for best or keep connecting though friendlist as spots open it seems.

Yeah. It makes you wonder how people put up with it in MOBAs for so long, because pugging just isn't fun most of the time. Most of the time it's either playing with bots or ragers. Also, if the Ts plant outside on Train and it's even numbers, I don't see how you can defuse it. That new balcony and the middle bombsite location changes so much about the game. There's just way too many angles to cover. Obviously dumb Ts will peak and die, but I mean competitively, it's SO easy to defend. Has anyone noticed a huge ping difference when the maps change? Like, I'm wondering if rather than having the same server change maps, they just connect everyone to a different server running the next map. I've continually noticed going from 50 ping on one map to 140 on another.

there has not been a nice update to date, I don't think valve is doing enough, also they are not getting feedback from cs professionals. they are in touch with a 1.6 caster tho (whisenhunt), lol.

The game itself is better than what I expected from videos and such but still a few things that need fixing and adjusting, so far it's not too bad.

Doesn't help that every game I get into is filled with people who are completely awful. I've dominated every single game I've been in so far and teammates constantly accidentally shoot me (long after they should have too) and do overall retarded things. Either way I'm probably their target audience for it, and playing it now I'd buy it. I could see myself liking it more than source.

still a cs go beta key is worth more than a dota2 beta key these days

Even if it's Valvetime, I hope they take their time and tweak the game to be a better successor than what Source was for 1.6 Seeing how they've been updating Dota 2, it will be slow-ish but steady progress.

Considering how 1.6 and Source have been hanging in top 10 most played steam games pretty much all the time, if they manage to get GO there, they are in for some decent money. Even if it's Valvetime, I hope they take their time and tweak the game to be a better successor than what Source was for 1.6 Seeing how they've been updating Dota 2, it will be slow-ish but steady progress. according to twitter they have given out 50k keys. so only 1500ish people playing shows how much they like it i guess. i pretty much don't like it very much either. i just play some hours after each update to see what has changed. but if i play it right after 1.6 it feels very awful (probably because its very different but still, i found i kinda weird when i played it first and at that time i hadn't played 1.6 for like 1 year or even more...)

Like, if I could invite my clan mates and if it was possible to join games together (rather than following 1 person and praying a slot is open), we would play a ton. As it stands, I can only take so much solo bot practice on Office before quitting. You can imagine in SC2 the number of 2v2/3v3/4v4s being played would drop dramatically if you could only random queue for them.
