What exactly is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? A redone CS:S? haha i'm not sure if this was a well done joke or an honest question. both are funny. simply put, it's the next counter-strike. It's pretty simple, when I join a CS:GO game, after about 20 or 30 seconds after the round begins my computer goes black for a few seconds then restarts. It's quite bizarre. Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing this? I'm new here so I'm not sure if this is even the right place to be asking this type of question. Thanks in advance! You'd probably be better off in the tech support forums. I would start by checking for overheating, using speedfan or something similar. http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

I had fun playing CS 1.3-1.6 back in the day. I had fun playing CS: Source back in the day. Games like COD -insert version here- or Battlefield Bad Company 1/2 and Battlefield 3 have shown, however, that gaming nowadays is capable of hell of a lot more than just terrorists vs counter-terrorist on the umpteenth makeover of de_dust or de_dust2. The fact that these maps have been remade at all, shows, in my opinion at least, how desperate the devs are, as if they realize there's no way they can ever compete against giants like COD and Battlefield. I'm not even sure if it would be worth it to release CS:GO as a fully priced retail game. There's a whole generation of gamers out there who've never even heard of Counter-Strike; gamers who grew up on the Xbox360 and PS3 playing Halo, Killzone, Call of Duty or Battlefield. Of course there are still PC gamers, but unless you're as masterful at hyping your games like Blizzard, no way you're going to get a lot of money out of yet another military shooter -a genre that is getting as saturated as WW2 games around 2005. Even Blizzard is developing a console version of Diablo 3 because they realized a lot of money can be found there. I don't even see a reason for CS:GO to exist. Do we really need three different versions of the same game, especially when the first two versions are still insanely popular? There's already a lot of people complaining that each new COD is basically extremely expensive DLC to the previous version, but Valve seem to take this a step further by just releasing the same game with slightly better graphics, even though its two predecessors still have at least 80,000 people playing at any given time during the day. Just my 2 cents. (Then again, if I had it my way, I'd cancel every single Valve project and force everyone to work on Half Life 3). because cs is a totally different game to cod or bf? The way it works is completely different. The fact that the maps are compact distinct situations that have had hundreds of thousands of hours of playtime and evolution of games on them? I cannot stand COD and BF style games. They took fps games and took everythign away from them that was awesome imo. What is so bad about a gun that is actually accurate for its first shot? THe playmodes i do like on them are invariably ruined by sprawling maps that dont really seem to have been designed around a focus point ... more on being 'realistic'.

Great interview with Heaton. Hints a possible return in CSGO with potti. Would be epic.

Yeah Richard Lewis (the Interviewer) has been bickering with Lurppis the past few weeks on twitter over his comments on CSGO.

Just my 2 cents. (Then again, if I had it my way, I'd cancel every single Valve project and force everyone to work on Half Life 3). I think CS:GO will be a quality release. Valve was basically built on the back of half-life and counter-strike, so for them to abandon their premier series just because the competition is stiff, and the others are popular is asinine. Even with COD and Battlefield being so similar, I think most will find CS:GO an FPS of a different breed. You forget who Valve is. They made Half-life, Half-life 2, TF, TF2, Portal, Portal 2...I could name many more. Don't think that just because they're "new" to the consoles with their FPS game that they'll be taken lightly. Valve has been delivering solid games for years, not to mention their brain-child Steam has such a stranglehold on digital video game distribution. I guess you haven't even heard much about the Steambox?
