I mostly play demolition, for some reason when I go community servers when I click on the words and it shows the servers, my mouse becomes hidden and I can't pick a server, so I play matchmaking. I don't like playing casual, with how the items work and such, and it's not that fun to me, but I can't do well in competitive because I keep missing where I'm supposed to go, strategies they want me to follow, and some other aiming. I get positive KD's in demolition, am I doing bad because of anxiety, or is it because they're all better than me? Are there ways I can maybe improve with other people without getting yelled at?

I have high hopes for cs:go and genuinely enjoy playing it, however when you go back and play 1.6 it just feels like such a better game than go's current state. Now, that doesn't mean cs:go will never be on the same level, it will eventually if people care about it enough and the developers keep an open mind, however to say that he wouldn't enjoy 1.6 as much now is just slightly ignorant to what an amazing game it actually is to feel and play.

But I agree with the feeling that 1.6 is just more fun, sometimes in GO you feel like you should be able to kill a guy spraying or something, and it doesn't hit shit, it's frustrating, while in 1.6 I always hit what I feel like I should. Maybe it's because I didn't play enough GO, but I regret they didn't put closer spray patterns or spray feeling compared to 1.6. Not like I struggle to play GO, just that the option of being able to burst OR spray viably is nice, while right now spraying with AK is more like praying for me, while in 1.6 I'm totally fine with it. And still the thing that bugs me the most is the overall visual blurriness, it's hard to see people from afar, and bullet impacts are nearly impossible to see, which doesn't help for spraying either (I used to use the black dots they did in 1.6 to adjust my spraying ).

I never played 1.6 or css, so im kind of lost, what are the actual differences between all these games except the graphics? I know that the hitboxes and spray patterns are different, but I don't know what is considered good or bad. Can someone explain? Mind you i havent played CS GO for a month, i kinda enjoyed myself in Path of Exile too much. But i think there are few things going on imo. "Meta-game" : underused weapons of 1.6 are getting many kills here, which is imho slightly bad, but its debatable, but i guess complainign people dont like it very much. And i know the reasons for both sides. For Esports its required to have either all weapons having deep learning curve or only few, and rest staying casual use only. And seeing how its impossible for a shotgun to have a deep learning curve as its by its design a more luck based weapon its bad, for esports, not bad for casual fun. But in the end you have to decide. And probably the more important, game dynamics, feeling, map decals, models, ex_interp, netcode, movement speed, jumping, "duck jump", abusable 1.6 grenade trajectories etc. All similar but slightly different, some things were removed, some were added (radar, registers movement, what you hear etc). This again is debatable, its new game mechanic, it kinda blows in FFA, but in CW people will "walk" so its not that big for CW. There is no real problem here, the better player probably wins most of the time, because the game still has deep learning curve and is and will always be aim based game given some of weapons are capable of hitting inside the cursor 1 shot (and i believe they are). Because thats the detrimental point, if you can always win with perfect play, then the game is saved, because thats required skillcheck for any competition. So rest is just accepting new rules, a matter of taste, habits, likes. I personally prefer (thats the right word) 1.6, because its easier on brain to discern whats going on, but im biased i spent 10 years of my life playing it (semi professionaly and casualy, depends on period). In CS:GO The number of map decals, and increased complexity of models made me second guess a sure shots, cs is a game of mili seconds when it comes to opening kills, and when people burn down the visual/hearing fire triggers into their minds it will be ok. Some people just dont want to relearn, i dont care, im not going to persue a career in CS:GO, and seeing that NiP owned people, it means there is a large transition gain from 1.6. so its ok. Actualy now thinking about it, i believe all of those things i wrote is not the real crux, the real crux is, that the game feels kinda boring, in a way it does not highlight or sometimes even allow for flashy moves. While its debatable if its needed in play, its certainly will become crux if CS:GO wants to recapture 1.6 Esports glory. Its that i dont think that a frag movie of CS:GO can even scratch a mediocre 1.5-1.6 fragmovie. Its simply not that flashy, for play and spectating, everything is tonned down. The game is too real in visuals, and too balanced out. Im just gonna add, that the game has genuine CS feeling, and when i played few CW's few weeks ago with old pals, i relied 90% on my old experience and was rewarded for it, things like positioning, reactions, decision making, comes from 1.6. What im trying to say, this is good game, but increasing the visuals, and trying to pursue visual representation over dynamism could technically lose some fun from the dynamism of old engine, still in majority CS GO has the feeling of counter strike game. And this was said by a CS1.5-1.6 elitist. This is still a game to grab a AWP/AK and get some headshots, this CS 1.6 or CSS. I think CS GO debate is still iway better than CSS vs CS1.6, because back then it was a hell of a debate, well no debate, everyone backed off from CSS and continued playing 1.6. Only the new community back then embraced the new game, ah and US teams ![]() Sorry for not the most coherent response... T-T

Because when I left college and stopped playing CS, 1.6 had just been released (together with the introduction of Steam) and iirc most people coming from 1.5 were completely SHITTING on it - the graphics were not clear, the riot shield was retarded, the headshots were stupidly easy especially with the dumb new rifles, etc etc. But now every CS player out there basically worships 1.6 so I guess all these criticisms were unfair and just the usual negative reaction to change? And many still preffer 1.5 over 1.6, 1.5 was in a way more fun game, and "frivoulous" same was as 1.3 was to 1.5 more happy face jumping and owning people with weapons. Edit: I will TLDR that post, no need to go into all changes. From perspective of time 1.6 introduced more positional play, recoil was actually harder to maintain, but i was not good enough 1.5 player to properly evaluate that change, i was good 1.6 player however and i saw game changing in front of my eyes. People still could find certain mechanics to abuse, even if the blatant ones were fixed (awp weap switch), more positional play and unlisted interp/recoil change in circa 2005 was the biggest hit actually. I actually took a break at that time (was playing wow -_-) and when i came back i couldnt play this game, i thought my computer got virused and after clean format i understood lol. But then i got down how to play it and i loved it, the game changed into pure aim-fest. It was awesome, positional aim-fest, staring at 1 spot, quick turnaround for flash and that 0.5 sec you knew a guy will come out of corner and you had to score headshot or u are dead. Glorious. Sorry i can talk hours about 1.5/1.6 ;f

As that guy said earlier, playing 1.6 was offensive to the senses, to a 1.5 player... now imagine how drastic that is to a 1.6 player -> CSGO. Also compare the potential future for GO and the future that 1.6 had. Technology and esports have improved... the community has not. (Worsened imo, by nostalgia kings) You can actually spray, once you relearn the new recoil patterns. Just because you played 1.6 and mastered the aim there, means you can spray in anything right away (I had this problem.) It is, however, more situationally realistic. You're not going to shoot up ladder on Nuke and spray down 3 guys in 3 different spots with an M4.(Although I loved this, I understand the compromise.) As I'm scrimming more and more as this ESEA season progresses things are panning out and the meta game is changing. People weren't using HE nades because of bias. Now people are nade stacking. People hated molotovs, people spammed them, people now understand the importance and balance this provides because of its high cost. (T's can fake out CTs that are ahead and waste their money by fake pushing and wasting molotovs) Weapon imbalances and prejudices are panning out too. Galil and FAMAS are seeing more action, people are starting to learn how to shoot the m4 and awp, people are liking the flashbangs, etc. Everyone is so critical on release (Which was, to be fair, a little too early) but compared to most game's states on release, this wasn't that bad.

Seems that people are using P90s more now realizing how bullshit the gun is. The p-90 is ridiculous! I buy it when I need easy kills (when I'm getting sharded on in esea). It reminds me of COD: Most of the players are running around with their heads cut-off and a p-90 in their hands. Pre-nade that spot then proceed to jump and shoot when you see something.

Id rather opt for a famas or galil if the kill reward didnt exist, but in a 5v5 scrim, a p90 on anti-eco rounds with a $900 reward is a no-brainer. I wouldnt call it imbalanced though, because both teams can buy one.

Maximum DPS is actually lower than the M4 or AK despite the higher fire rate, and accuracy is much worse so long range performance is bad. Essentially, using the P90 locks you into a rush & spray style that's probably countered by good positional play at pro level. I say "probably" because they just don't seem to use it except for the occasional anti-eco buy. In pub games there may be a problem because the P90 is so much easier to use than the rifles. Point at target, W+D+fire.
