It's not as good as you might think. What you see in the above picture is a two mod item, which he put on "can have multiple mods" from Elreon lvl 8(!) for 2 exalted orbs (!!). Plus he maybe also used "prefix cannot be changed" before so he got rid of useless mods (another 2 exalted orbs), but idk about that.

Thing is, masters don't let you add more mods than 6. If an item has 6 mods, you can't master-craft anything.

Anyway, leveling masters still is a really good idea and if you want to speed it up, you can join master rotations with other people when you got your dailys available. Join /global 820 for that.

Lvl 7+ masters effectively give you a few free maps everyday, plus nice currency discounts.

Most importantly, lvl 8 masters occasionally sell random uniques for a couple chaos-- this can include stuff like Shav's, though that's obviously very rare.

Also you don't have to do super fancy mastercrafting-- you can do stuff like add some HP or resist to a piece of armor to make it almost-good to usable. If you have a item with a couple good mods but you can't afford to do fancy crafting you can slap on a mastercraft to make it good as well. A lot of "standard" mods are pretty cheap.

the nice thing about crafting is that it is within your control once you get a good base, and it's relatively much cheaper than searching on trade. also for people who like to self-find stuff. but remember to do your homework before crafting!

i did spend a total of 6 exalts on that wand though because i screwed up the first time round.

it had the flat phys and phys% (2 prefixes) from my alterations. I regaled a 25% cold damage (suffix) onto it.

What I failed to do was proper research before proceeding to craft.

I immediate crafted multimod (this is a suffix! i thought it was a prefix) and put attack speed (suffix) on, and quickly realized that i was out of space for crit (suffix). ended up crafting it subpar with WED(prefix) as the last slot.

so that was the 2 exalt mistake. lol

had to wait to get haku to level 8. removed crafted mods, added prefixes cannot be changed from haku (2ex) and recrafted everything on (2ex).

Still worth it though.

remember, rare items can have a total of 6 mods. 3 prefix and 3 suffix, 7 if it has an implicit mod. again, remember to check which mods are what kind of affix, don't make the same silly mistake i did

Hey is it just me or Tempest seems quite inactive? Items on poetrade are barely rotating, regular trade chat has like 5 active channels and so on. Also i am meeting 1-2 TL members online on tempest only. Is it because I am on mostly during eu hours?

I play Tempest only on EU Times like now.

But as I allways go selffound on every Char I don't really care if trade is active or not.

The bad side of my playstyle is that i never got above Level 84 yet, as I struggle in End game due to mediocre gear. :D

The good side is: I never run out of new build Ideas as I allmost allways drop at least one Item to build arround on my next Char. I don't like playing the same kind of Char multiple times again and again.

I say: Try out this kind of playstyle if you are bored of trading. It's a lot more challenging though.
Leveling with a new skill from scratch can be tideous and a lot more time consuming but you really learn a lot about different skills and how to make them work.

Will probably never get bored of leveling in POE that way.

Are frost caster builds viable?

Only up to 18ish currently, but its extremely slow compared to any other build, but maybe it gets better later... anyone tried it?

depends on your gear and whether playing HC or SC, but it's mostly depends on gear

A crit ice nova with lots of AOE would be pretty strong and fairly safe, though I suppose it would be more gear dependent than some builds. Add in HoI and HoT, freeze and shatter everything woooo.

Anyone have a list of skills that have really good base scaling and aren't too gear dependent?

I think GGG have done a better job of bringing spells more in line with each other useability-wise with the more recent expansions. Sure some are more useful with virtually no gear (cough flametotem) but it's not like in the past where flameblast was like twice as good as any other skill. I'm pretty sure you can make every spell function to some reasonable degree without too much effort.

I need an advice. Dropped 6link Judgement staff ilvl75 on tempest. Should i craft +3 and try selling it or just sell it as white?
I mean everybody knows it can be crafted now, so not sure if it adds any value?

Lvl 68 Glacial Cascade character died to Tora Fetid Maw in Lvl 69 Ledge. got double leap slammed really quickly.

died with a Lvl 2 Empower, Lvl 2 Enlighten, and Lvl 1 Empower on secondary

should have just level grinded since the character wasn't tanky or wasn't safe against anything that could close gaps

oh well

time to Vaal the gems in Standard for shits & giggles

I feel sudden spawns and single attacks are a bit much in path of exile, sometimes there are things against which you can't really arm yourself.

I am fully convinced that that unique Fetid Maw is the strongest thing in this game. Even at level 73 it crushed my level 90, max res (except chaos), 5144 health, 400 regen, 65% damage reduction (90 with endurance charges) Marauder like nothing. I thought to myself, "No way, I can take that." Respawn and go to kill it. Get killed again, even faster this time.

That thing is no joke.
