If armor is buffed this patch enemies would also benefit and be more resilient to phy dmg now.

And I was pretty much speaking from an EK perspective and if 100% conversion to lightning is possible, most likely with the help of a new unique chernobog equivalent. And yeah curse on hit allows you to apply multiple curses so easily these days.

Keep in mind that before 1.3 there has been exactly 2 methods in the entire game that allowed a conversion of phys to lightning (Lightning arrow and Lightning Strike). In the past I think it was to balance how OP consistent shock stacks would have been with lightning conversion but now that shock is a reasonable status ailment they can play around with it a bit more.

Yeah back then with max 3 shock stacks 90% more DMG a gem like that would be imbalanced

Back then even Lightning Strike wasn't unpopular. But I god damn hate that skill. I tried to copy that Flicker Ninja build back then, which mostly used LS. But for me that was too much of a hassle to use.

Lightning arrow is still absurdly satisfying to play (the sounds on it are great etc) but its hard to run bow skills that need lmp AND chain just to have enough AoE potential these days. Toss in WED, PPAD and all of a sudden ur a 5link. Hope u have ur mana solved. My plan for the new hardcore league is now dual shockwave totems with the phys to lightning gem, lots of crit, pcoc ice spear flyin around, running hatred and herald of ice

sounds good except for herald of ice. it does nothing for you, does it? the totems won't get more dmg since it's not an aura and your ice spear doesn't do dmg. or am I missing something?

also not sure how conversion works... would the totems get any cold dmg from hatred if they converse 100% phys to lightning?

there's also a 0.0% chance its 100% conversion even at 20/20

I dunno if herald of lightning would proc if ur totems killed shocked enemies but if it would that skill + curse on hit is op

i do think herald of lightning would proc but it would use me as the source and not the totems. so positioning wise it wouldnt work well, otherwise id use it

holy you are kind of right. after researching it looks like the totems get the flat buff, but not the shatter effect. so i actually will go with herald of thunder over ice.

I'm curious as to why you want to use phys to lightning anyway?

Is it just to allow you to scale the damage with elemental nodes?

I guess

I'm suspicious that just an added lightning gem might achieve the same thing and actually add damage but what do I know. 4% crit is an awful low base chance.

Yes, I think you are not wrong in that. But he'll be able to shock more durable monsters and for a longer time. And depending on the monsters the dmg can also be higher with curses and lightning pen(and a lot lower if you meet a double resistance enemy).

Personally, I will not try it unless someone shows it's super strong. I always felt like the fact that monsters hardly have armour is one of the benefits of physical damage. But afaik dual shockwave totem with crit deals extremely high dmg anyway, so I doubt it can be weak. :D

As a matter of fact , buffing armor would also buff 2 handers , which solves 2 problems with a 1 change.

But just a bit, imo the biggest problem of 2 handers is the ridiculous elemental dmg of some bosses and occasionally also from rares. I mean, there always has been immortal call for physical dmg reduction if needed.

The best interaction I can come up with off the top of my head for phys to lightning was voltaxic but if ur actually attacking with it then there isn't much phys to convert really and if ur just using voltaxic for the conversion well what phys spell is so high damage that u can't mitigate reflect with cwdt immortal call and have to convert twice all the way to chaos to avoid reflect. I aint buying it.
