You could tell which builds are faster and not paper so that they die every map. I could imagine a good gear discharger can be very fast too. The quickest caster build in this thread is an Arc build. Sure, I doubt all builds have tried it, but it sure shows it's damn fast. EDIT: Woops I didn't look correctly, it is ST CoC Arc ^^. Fastest is Bloodmagic Discharger and SRS. EDIT2: Actually just forget the 2nd half of my post, that thread isn't up to date and there's no Arc/Flameblast records in the OP. But SRS seems like the quickest if my skimming through the last pages is right. | ||

Arc is auto aim & can offscreen. It's currently the best lightning spell in term of clear speed for sure. Non of the cold spell comes close too. FP dmg falls off drastically at long distance, so you kinda need to play semi melee. That leaves the fire one, incinerate and flameblast. Incinerate is non crit and has build up time. Only flameblast proliferation comes close but you still need to aim unlike Arc. I can't see what other spell beats arc in clr speed as self cast atm. Except the gimmick discharger maybe. | ||

Even fanatic arc proponents like foxtactics has long realized the shortcoming of arc and moved on to rf/crit ice nova, which is actually very strong as well. And seriously nerfing arc just because you can autoaim it? Lmao OK fine Nerf arc back to its prebuff value where no one even bother using it, I don't care for arc anyway. | ||

Where did anyone said that we don't want any Arc'ers anymore? It is a running joke which is not really a joke. People (me too) predicting Arc nerfs based off the effectivness compared to other stuff. That's why I would like to see a Flameblast nerf too. Imo GGG doesn't diverse spells enough by casttime for example. Minor tweaking with casttime numbers could result in fair buffs/nerfs. Edit: and why you keep comparing the damage of high-scaling close-range spells to Arc? Clearspeed correlates with damage but isn't defined by it. | ||

Er Lightning Tendrils clear speed is terrible. It locks you in place for a substantial amount of time. Even with big AOE it's nowhere the clear speed of arc in stuff like Courtyard where mob moving around like mad. Mob just don't always come at you, they run around all the time, thus by the nature of the skill arc trumps. Tendrils are better in static map with zombie or sea witches maybe, but overall nowhere as close And yes auto aim increase clear speed alot since it let you hit more while moving less. And Foxtactics stated publicly 3 days ago that 99% chance of Arc getting base dmg nerf again with the new tree because it's too good, so not sure why you think he thought arc sucks :| | ||

Anyways, Arc is still one of the best balanced skills in the game. It would be stupid to nerf it. It's one of the only skills that is decent to level with (there are much better alternatives but it's possible), decent with cheap gear and good but not OP with really good gear. I don't know why they would have to nerf that... I like BluQ's idea about the cast speed way more. Just buff other skills by other means than simply increasing the damage to make them more well balanced against the current challenges of the game. | ||

As in, its hard to just "nerf" a spell by making it cast slightly slower when it's being procced 20 times a second with mjollnir or cast on crit. | ||
