It's not even the "beta" aspects of it that are letting me down, but I think it's just how lackluster dungeon crawlers seem to me. I never played Diablo II and everyone keeps commenting on how similar the two games feel. I despise how small of an inventory I have, especially when it's halfway full with different kinds of scrolls. I dislike the potion system that is devoted to me drinking potions every 5-10 seconds. The graphic style is abysmal to me, even on the highest graphics settings. The story isn't captivating enough for me wanting to know more about the characters and what is actually going on. The skill tree, while complex and full of tons of customization doesn't hold enough appeal for me to test out different combinations at maxed out levels due to how boring I find the gameplay.
In terms of smaller quality of life improvements that I would like to see are: 1. Floating combat text. While I can see myself doing more and more damage, this is still a game of stats. The one with the higher stats should (in theory) in more damage and it's nice to compare damages with other people on a hit basis rather than an average. I'd like to be able to say "Wow, I crit for 10000000 on that skeleton" but since these numbers don't show anywhere, getting better gear doesn't feel the same.
2. Improve the minimap / tab map. It honestly looks horrible and reminds me of some archaic 8-bit game on the NES.
3. Helpful tips. When I started playing there was no real direction or anything to help guide me into the features of the game. I didn't know about skill points until level 8 because no one told me. I basically just had to open up the hotkeys menu and memorize exactly what everything did asking "oh I wonder what this is" which is usually followed up by "i have no idea but i assume it's important for something"
1 - this would be soooooooo messy and confusing 2 - this is something many more people would like to see, but its not a big enough priority atm, more content and making sure things are fun is more important 3 - this is a reasonable complaint, there isn't much of a tutorial really.
Sounds like you just dont like genre really, which is fair play.

1) a large part of the attraction of gearing up is in the gem sockets, so when I go from 4+1 chest to a full 5Linked chest I can now add Fork to my split arrows, for example
2) Fair. Many people like it but it definitely looks pretty weak.
3) This is a "beta issue" imo. Hints, tips and tutorials are often "release features" dealt with once the core gameplay is in line with expectations.

What?
Inventory size is the same as D2/D3
2 vertical rows are occupied by scrolls/common orbs I pick up, there is plenty of space if you only pick up rares.
The flask system is neat, if you have to chug flasks that often you're doing something wrong (even though I have no idea what I'm doing and I don't have to flask that often).
There isn't a need for combat text to clutter up the screen, you see extremely detailed information about each of your skills on the character sheet screen. I guess you just want to show off your epeen when you do the big damages?
I agree the tab map is horrible, if I use the arrows to scroll I sometimes get dizzy.
You didn't know about skills til level 8? There's a huge plus button at the bottom of your screen when you level.

D3 has a muuuuuuuuuch larger inventory.
Prolly because items are the only thing that remotely matter in D3.

How long does it take for you to get to about level 30,50,80,100? Because I like to experiment with different builds, but if it takes too long I get bored.

I'm interested in leveling up a templar on HX, what do people recommend for skills and tree paths. I haven't dabbled in the game much, but I like to have an idea before I play. I'm thinking about either going two hand, or one hand with a shield. Any information would be grand!

Starting my first Shadow; interested in the CI/crit build, but was wondering if anyone could comment on the viability of this with claw+shield or even DW claws. I tend to get a little reckless so I think the lifesteal of claws would help me out a lot.

Claws do life on hit, not lifeleech, so they do NOT synergize with CI at all, even if you had the ablility that made lifeleech apply to energy shield instead of life.
Also, apparently GGG are working on new/redone melee skills, especially for claws, so you may want to wait until they finish that before starting a build centred on claws.

If you go for crits, why wouldn't you want to use daggers which already come with a flat 40% crit chance?

That's not how it works. The 40% you are referring to is modyfing the base crit chance of spells and attacks you use, it is not a flat out 40% chance to crit.

Played an ice witch in POE for a couple days, until i uninstalled the game today, just wasn't for me.
I just couldn't get into the combat system, was far to clunky and simplistic for me. good luck trying to kite anything in that game, even with cold slowing enemies down and using the movement speed buff, expecially versus some boses ( looking at you Oak and your jumping) Was really hoping there would be more and better support skills in the game, so i would actually have something to do, and not just stand still and hold the left mouse button all the time, and spam pots .
On the positive side i liked the gear and the gem system, was nice and diferent, except for the no gold part, was kinda anoying that 1/3 of my inventory was orbs and pieces.
Kinda sad , since i was hoping to find a new rpg to play for a while.

I'm kicked one out of 2 zone change, servers saturated

Adventuring hard I"m level 38 HC Ranger. About 1300 HP, 160~ DPS, Iron Reflexes, 1700 armorish (57%~ reduc) and over 50% all resists.
Need some advice for the future. Is Iron Grip worth to get early on for DPS or better to get later? + Show Spoiler +http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIABS0ILg6tFHUY2xmOIWAotSmlNZI6UkCgQ5xKfU7IVgRbr10AYEtgiGFSZ6B07XTxeu-GYId2kAqbjZ65wdjTft0N37_tg-4O7078xVb6Nug=
This is where I'm at in the skill tree. I can either go left and get two 12% Life Nodes then go up to Marauder + Templar trees or go Right to Iron Grip + Life node circle.
Also does anyone know what's best for single target atm? Poison Arrow or Elemental Hit or something else. Ty.

People easily got to level 30 in 3h races. The game is a bit harder now, so I'd say 4h for level 30 at a decent pace. It seems to have taken 40-50h on HC to get to level 80 for organized groups. Maybe 80h if you solo most of it. They got to level 60 in less than a day. You can speed everything up by 20-25% in SC apparently.

Did you even read my post. I said that I have not played D2 nor any other Dungeon crawler other than D3. Comparing inventories of D3 (where every item is either 1x1 or 2x1 inventory slots) and Poe (everything is massive, and you also have to hold all your scrolls) easily makes it hard for you to carry more than 6 items in PoE.
I would like the combat text to be optional so that people like you that don't like the numbers don't have to see it. Again, that was a quality of life issue and not a main issue that I had.

I ran behind a tent and kited him with aoe spells (he wasn't jumping because of tent corners. Fight took about 30 minutes. I later complained on chat and someone commented "yeah he can be hart for certain builds". This made me realise that variety of monsters makes it hard for one build or the other! When I'm playing solo I kite most rare mobs all the time (especially now in cruel where they sometimes happen to have life regen + leech which is really hard because of my dps). If the game is too easy maybe try some harder build?

With act 3 I guess it will be possilbe in at least 2000 hours of playtime.

I'm only lv31 (on HC) and I've definitely played way longer than 3 hours. I need to learn the tips and tricks. ;E
