You mean Necro? Elementalist doesn't really make sense because you don't benefit from the new Golems with The Dark Monarch. Sounds like a fun build though. Maybe I'll try that since I would have to level another char for it (would be my first full respec ever I think...). What skill are you using for initial kills or when spiders die on bosses? //edit: oh, worms?

Hollow Palm Flicker sounds tempting as well because I have never played either of the two. hmh...

Yes, I wanted to say Necro.

You only need to use the worm flask at the beginning of the map (hold down divine ire before using the flask) and in bosses with no previous monsters. That is because the spiders keep genereting themselves because when monster die with their poison, the poison counts as your kill. So you don't really need Gravebind.

Can it do T17 or Ubers? Atleast T17 would be important because else i can just Pcoc again ^^


I think probably yes, but I still didn't try. I need to invest more in the chracter, buy cluster jewels, jewels, etc.

I think he meant using Hollow Palm for leveling the character until maps. As far as I know, you can't use flicker strike unarmed. The squire stuff sounds interesting though.

Managed to level the Char up over the weekend as Occultist... Now doing some T16 and just swapped to CI (maybe a bit too early but you never know if you don't try ).
Just need to work at my tankiness a bit, right now i'm a bit vulnerable to various random one shots but it isn't too bad if I don't roll rippy mods. Looking for some way to passively get Endurance Charges and more Jewels with ES should possibly do the trick to make it a phenomenal map blaster.
Not sure about endgame bosses yet, dmg seems fine aside from the occasional chaos/wither resistant mob so with good play at least all non ubers should be plenty doable..

I keep flipping from "I'm leaving the league for the season I'm so buns" to "WE'RE SO BACK BABY". Warden KB has so many peaks and valleys you've got to just enjoy the ride.

Oath of winter makes everything till yellow maps free. But then you hit this incredible wall where your dps is just dodo and you need to gear properly like any other class but you're not able to grind any good strategies. Then you get your double tincture "turbo" buttons and everything feels free again. Then you try and juice and find out that you have no defensive accensions and you'll get popped or drained.

I'm on my last "first real" round of upgrades and are now going to get my wand good, and finally realizeing that trickster KB would probably have been better.

Guess who already rolled up a trickster tho, this guy. Guess whos now addicted to crop rotation and is a dirty little farmer now? This guy, harvest scarbs are cheap and you can really get a ton of juice from it.

I somehow missed this post. I'm much in the same boat, just a week later because I did continue with my Cold Snap Ignite a bit further because the clear got better with a couple upgrades. However, it was just a pain to kill even the first Black Star. I also got one-shot fairly often, which I blamed on bad gear on CI (I typically don't play CI). However, now on my second char I'm not so sure anymore. This league feels more rippy, even besides some of the insane Mercs. Anyhow, at some point I decided it's time to do another char, didn't respec but leveled another Witch for Arakaali's Spiders on Necro.

I personally don't like the clear speed. The Dark Monarch helped a ton but it still feels mediocre. However, bossing is very smooth. I did the memory strand ones blind and only died to the last one because I didn't know what to do in the "rose" phase. In that phase particularly though, the spiders feel like a cheat because they absorb so many of the projectiles. I think I would have lost all 6 portals on any other char...

As for the new league in general, my concerns from before league start still stand and some new ones were added. Mercs are not exciting at all. Finding the right one for you is annoying. Quite a few of them randomly one-shot you, even when playing careful, which makes interacting with them not fun. And then even if you got one, you still need to gear him and I have to gear myself properly still... Currently, I'm playing without one because why bother...
I despise the new petal skills and hope they get rid of them as soon as possible. They are like sentinels but instead you have to spam them and half the time they don't seem to work...
Random side note: The ground effects you can add in memory strands (Exarch, Sirus etc.) are a pain in the ass. Not sure if those are new modifiers or T17 ones but I cannot remember them from last league.

Mercs are just one of those things you have to be all-in on before they're actually good. They're a lot better in trade where you can get access to all the relatively common uniques that make them do interesting things for your build. Until then, you just do less damage due to them adding 40-50% hp on rares/uniques.

I was doing a rallying cry merc on my Starcaller build to add a lot of flat phys, but my latest iteration is just Doryani's Institute on a hatred merc while I search for a smite merc that doesn't have purity of lightning. It's hard to beat Doryani's for just about any build this league. There's also the option of wearing The Admiral for non-lightning builds.

The process of finding the right merc does suck - they could make that a lot better by just increasing the amount of exile slots so you more consistently get the types you're looking for.

Here are some the notes I made early in the league for things useful for mercs. I haven't updated it in awhile.

Just the toe on your merc makes the merc worth it. But when you can get some chaos togetaer a dory+ -lightning resist ammy+ring Is shocking amounts of damage for lightning

You get your 8 mod Dunes map 2x monstrous lineage (for +80% magic pack size) 1x harvest doubling and a sacrifice fragment.

Something like that, but with a lot of flexibility. You just bum rush the boss, pop the shrines and then dive into the harvest. the trick is that you don't need bosses to spawn, you can get another harvest going really fast. What crop rotation does really well with all this juice is to spawn fat stacks of magic pack mobs. GGG is going to have to limit the 40% magic pack size scarb to 1 per to ruin this. This strategy is what brought Yellow Life Force from 20ish per c to 32 now.

I got my Arakali Spiders finally in true endgame and did some T17 and T16.5.

The loot is bonkers.
The maps (and rolling them) are the most annoying bullshit I ever experienced and my build can run plenty of mods...

Does anyone find these map mods "fun" or engaging? You're an idiot if you don't play these maps currency wise but whats the point if you hate your life for every second doing it?


I acutally like my build but I hate that it's not really viable for Delve or Bossing (it can do them but it's annoying due to Spiders lifespan and the RNG with resummoning)...

T17 were a mistake in their current form... T16.5 are the same mistake in a slightly diffrent form.

I fixed the problem with bossing by allocating Replenishing Remedies via Impossible Escape. It frees up my annoint as well, because I can allocate another 24 reservation efficiency. That way you always have enough charges. I also leave a bit of an interval between summon row 1 and 2 so I don't lose all of them at once. However, summoning RNG can still be annoying sometimes if it somehow summons 18 instead of 20 or so...

The modifiers on the maps can be annoying for sure. The Exarch/Sirus ground effects are a pain in the ass because they are so fucking dangerous and with all the shit happening you can barely see them. I decided to roll over those as soon as I see them now. I like the Elder slam effect though because it forces you to play differently but is clearly visible and gives you enough time to adjust. Then there are some things that just make the map feel like a slog. Like the -attack/cast/movement speed for, which I sometimes misread for additional speed for monsters and then wonder why I'm crawling across the map...

I'm personally at the verge of stopping the league. Idk, normally I would be more engaged at this point, getting upgrades and so on. But it all feels stale. Doesn't help that minions are boring as fuck to play (yes, this is my first time playing minionsin PoE...). I could reroll my really strong Storm Call build from Settlers, which would be absolutely nuts with the new merc tech, but I don't feel like doing that... meh

//just realised I played a minion build before: Holy Relic in Kalandra. But that league I quit super early and I hated that build.

T17 would be fine if they were not so profitable, and you completed them mainly as a way to get Uber Bosses fragments. I think that was their initial idea.

But they overtuned the profit and you are kinda forced to do them despite being annoying.

The really awful mods that everyone hates are also the ones that give the massive reward bonuses (exarch runes, drowning orbs, remove life/etc on hit, etc). This is true for both T16.5 and T17. People hate these mods, but run them solely because they are so much better than the regular mods.

Once you remove the profitability, you have mods that are both completely unfun and pointless to ever keep. The path to ubers ends up even worse of a grind, will result in less people running them and therefore adding fragment scarity, and that in turn will make uber drops go up even more. If anything, uber drop prices need to fall by 2-3x for most desired items to get them in a good spot.

The whole T17 system just sucks. It'd be so much better if they just canned the entire new mod pool and had completely separate mods for the map boss and the rest of the map, or just turned T17s into unique maps that are both off the atlas and have a specific range of mods (similar to synthesis). In my eyes it fits better to reduce the fragments needed per uber and reduce the amount of T17s in general (along with the above changes) as this also alleviates the problem of a lack of map variety.

Dunno what you do for T16.5's. That system also sucks right now. It has all of the modpool problems plus the memory strand system is as bad (if not worse) than the old memories. It's painful to roll each map before running it. It's painful dealing with two separate map devices that don't share fragments. It's a crapshoot which altars you'll get and therefore synergizing with the atlas is painful.

My problem is that when confronted with the question of "would you rather play maps with these mods or just play another game," it's the latter I'm often choosing.

Anyway, on the more positive side, I do think putting the old memories as Kirac missions is a general positive that I think has gone pretty overlooked this league. There's definitely room for improvement here - I think the individual maps should be better (since you don't have all the extra IIQ/IIR that the memories had), plus some changes to obtaining the special maps. A new scouting report, special icons on the maps themselves, higher frequency of them appearing, etc. The current option of spamming regular reports or opening (but not running) kirac missions to force a reroll just isn't very good.

T17 were a mistake in their current form... T16.5 are the same mistake in a slightly diffrent form.


I fixed the problem with bossing by allocating Replenishing Remedies via Impossible Escape. It frees up my annoint as well, because I can allocate another 24 reservation efficiency. That way you always have enough charges. I also leave a bit of an interval between summon row 1 and 2 so I don't lose all of them at once. However, summoning RNG can still be annoying sometimes if it somehow summons 18 instead of 20 or so...


I fixed it now by constantly having the Worm ring in my inventory... If i lose all spiders and can't TP I swap it onto the Merc and pray that my Divine Ire will kill one sooner or later ^^.

My next session will probably be filled with redoing my whole Aura setup... The tought of rerolling all socket colours and so on makes me cry a little inside when thinking about it but the potential gains seem very promising (i still run it like I did when I started T16's when the main issue was to "somehow" fit all the stuff in).


Else... I think I found my way to make decent profits at an ok pace with Simulacrums because Harbinger got old. The invites are fast to farm (or 100c to buy) even on "a bit above Alch+Go" T16's and an unident Voices goes for 10 Div.
Now thinking about redoing one Atlas tree... My Simul tree atm was just to have "something that doesn't need any interaction because I actually just want destructive play" .

I guess you go Simulacrum + Alva and Harvest?
