Interesting strategy. I'm not sure it works though? From anecdotal evidence (my own) the chance of the pirate appearing might correlate with the shipment value. I haven't had a pirate on low value shipments ever but on 700k-1m shipments he occurs relatively frequently. I don't think his appearence correlates with the risk involved but I might be wrong on that.
In about a month from now, we'll be doing a livestream that covers all the content of Early Access for Path of Exile 2, and how you'll be able to gain access.
We won't reveal too much just yet, but we'd like to clarify that just like Fall of Oriath, entry to Early Access will be gained by purchasing one of the new Supporter Packs containing a key. These new Supporter Packs will be revealed during the livestream. Players that meet a threshold of lifetime support in Path of Exile 1 will also be invited to participate in Early Access without needing to purchase a key.
Can they just make PoE2 buy to play? -.- Thank you.
I had... probably 6-8 pirate encounters over the league, 90% of which were off 100 value shipments. I'd guess I sent around 100 4hour shipments? It didnt't feel super 'worth it' overall b/c I only got one power rune, but it still technically would be net positive. Pirate drops 20k gold so it's one of the few things you could do thats gold positive.
I just "finished" the league. I managed to get to lvl 100 for the first time (and 99 and 98x2). Surprisingly, it didn't actually feel too grindy. I managed to get 36 challenges for the first time and could get to 38 fairly easily (could do Arduous Atlas 3805/4000 and Extravagant Equipment) but I don't want to. Inciting Invitations and Nightmarish Nemeses are the other ones left... Yesterday I tested my Storm Call build against Ubers and managed to take down Uber Eater, Uber Exarch (first time), Uber Cortex and Uber Uber Elder (first time). I didn't attempt the Uber versions of Shaper, Maven and Sirus. I'm pretty sure I could have done Shaper (have beaten him before) but not Maven or Sirus because I'm terrible at boss mechanics. The damage carried me hard on the other bosses... This is by far the highest boss damage build I have ever played. The next best one was Poison Seismic Trap in Sentinel, when it was still OP and the damage is not comparable... It took me a long while to get the build done (lvl 98 and a ton of tinkering with equipment) but I'm very happy how it turned out.
So yeah, lots of firsts and overall I really enjoyed this league.
I got a mirror of kalandra yesterday from a random map. I was finishing the league already completing my last challenge and sending my last big shipment from kingsmarch.
I don't think I can't play anymore this league already after more than 3 months, so I will save the Mirror as a trophey haha. It would have been nice to get one before

Is Path of Exile rly hard to get into?
It honestly depends on how you approach it. If you approach it with the intend to understand every system from the get-go and beat the hardest content in the game on the first character, then it will be nearly impossible. If you approach it step by step and feel ok with not understanding everything, just learning at your own pace you will be fine. I.e. if your first goal is just to get into maps and see how far you can make it, I don't think you need a guide for anything. Another approach would be to pick a beginner friendly build guide (e.g. from Phox or Zizaran) and focus on learning a couple other mechanics.
Generally, I feel the hardest thing about getting into PoE is being overwhelmed by all those convoluted, at times interconnected systems. A good example that is often shown is the skill tree. Yes, it is massive and there is a lot to it but if you approach it with a typical RPG the mindset of "Ok I got a spell that does fire damage and then look for nodes with spell and fire damage and path there. Then I need some defense, so lets pick up some life and armour as well." then it suddenly becomes way more simple. You can learn the nitty-gritty of the tree and connections to gear etc. later to make better builds but it's not necessary to just play the game. Understanding that it is not necessary to understand everything to be able to play and enjoy the game is key imho.
They'd basically take you to mid-late maps, but with no real idea how to scale beyond that, especially with defense. You might hear a lot about getting more defensive layers, but understanding how to actually apply that to a build is really hard starting out. A lot of the sites you'll find googling have really atrocious guides. Other than Maxroll I'd probably avoid every guide site out there. The poe build subreddit has a stickied thread of decent league starter builds, which are generally the kind of build you'd want as a new player: https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/1eaudsu/325_settlers_of_kalguur_league_start_build_index/ A lot of those creators have other content you can look at. Certain people like Pohx and Zizaran cater more toward the very new player, but most guides are more toward the player who isn't brand new but also isn't experienced.
2.) Outdated info.
This is a hard one to address since there are a lot of changes every league and leagues are typically every 3-4 months. Poewiki.net is the only wiki you should use for looking things up. Otherwise, if a post or video is more than two leagues old you run the risk of bad info (frankly, even one league old can be problematic in some cases). This was a problem I ran into a lot when trying to look up things about league mechanics.
For guides, you really want to stick with guides made for the current league. There's a good chance anything older will rely on items or mechanics that are gone/have changed. Builds made ages ago that have been "updated" are hot garbage more often than not. This is specifically referring to old videos or guides that just update the text or notes without an actual new guide being made.
A lot of times you just have to go to a place like here or the build sub's Q&A thread to ask questions to get up to date info. Sometimes you just screw something up and learn from experience. POE's a rabbit's nest that can take years to fully explore. In my opinion, good guides are really the best way to approach starting out since there's just so much you won't know exists. There are always loads of build guides made each league to look at.
In terms of tools worth using:
Path of Building Community Edition - This'll be used with basically every guide out there to load in builds or play around making your own.
CraftOfExile.com - A bit advanced for starting out, but useful for looking up what can actually appear on each item. More importantly, there's an emulator where you can test crafting methods out before doing it in game. There are a lot of little gotchas so it's worth going here to verify things work as expected before spending currency in-game.
Awakened PoE Trade - Mostly to help price items. Not worth using on rares since figuring out what's worth something is way too complicated for it, but does pretty good for uniques. I'd recommend changing the settings to have a 0% tolerance on the item rolls since many uniques value is tied heavily to its rolls (by default it lowers everything by 10% for searching).
There are other sites and tools, but they're a bit much for just starting out.
Empyrean Gaming (youtube) also has been doing a series on different money making strategies the last few leagues. This is not at all catered to the new player, but can be a useful place to look if you do reach maps and want to start pushing deeper into making money or just seeing what options are out there.
This is all good info! Will it be easier or more diffucult to get into the game with PoE 2? Like does it make sense to wait for PoE 2 or doesn't it matter cause it's basically the same with updated stuff or is PoE 2 far away from a beeing bugfree and enjoyable and PoE 1 makes more sense?
PoE2 is going to be a wildly different game than PoE1 in a lot of aspects. It'll probably easier to get into PoE2 since everyone is starting from mostly-zero and there's more effort being put into training new players via tutorial systems. There are a lot of big gameplay changes between the two.
There will be some carryover, though. A lot of the general knowledge of currencies and some crafting mechanics are being changed, but will still exist in some form. Gems are changing in implementation, but the system is functionally very similar to PoE1. Some league mechanics that exist in PoE1 will also exist in PoE2, though they may be different in some ways.
Both PoE1 and PoE2 are planned to continue indefinitely. Your MTX (including tabs) will exist in both games.
should note that for PoE 2, what is coming on Dec 6th is sort of a closed beta. As in, some people get in by random invite, some by legacy contribution (much $$$ spent), and the rest can buy a pack. Not 100% sure if this will be the system, but it's how they did it in the past.
therefore PoE 1 will be literally more accessible (free) than PoE 2, until PoE 2 has its full release
we won't know if things are buggy / imbalanced, probably will be some broken things, but their closed betas are typically quite polished
Yeah. Anything you buy in either game will be in both, including future ones.
They're working on having all skins ported from POE1 to 2 last I heard. I imagine some things won't be in right away like league-specific tabs for leagues not added to POE2 or uniques not carried over, but I'd expect it to be a very high percentage.
GGG has a much better reputation for this kind of thing than most companies.
