Just finishing up 40/40. Need to run doryani's machinarium, a couple lab runs, and then clear the fetid pool.

I didn't have a lot of time to play so I'm far from being done with the league. Funnily enough this is the first time I reached lvl 98 ever, although I haven't started another character yet so that's likely why. That and the fact that my build doesn't die unless I'm stupid. Might even go for 100 for the first time, who knows. I also want to play a couple more builds or so, one of the being archmage storm burst (I got the basic idea down in pob).
Some of the grind challenges seem fairly easy this league. However, between 12 challenges and 36 I see no point in me paying special attention to them. The portal is pretty cool but I'm unsure if I could realistically achieve 36 challenges. Other than that, there's no reward I would want.

Gauntlet starting tomorrow I think ?
Didn't play in the last two but gonna try to hit map for this one.
Really not sure what would be good to play, probably gonna try to go occulist with Bane/ED just like good old time

Depends on your goals, really. Witch is going to be really squishy. People aiming for killing bosses seem to be mostly going trickster for the defenses at high gear, but if you're more focused on campaign or level 90 then gladiator is probably a better bet since you get a lot more defense earlier.

Theres a few diff strats if you don't want to do a degen way, esp since 5 ways got nerfed a while back
gauntlet seems like fun... might just do an A10 or lvl 80 run

Right now I'm running Harbingers+Abyss strat from 98 to 99 and gain ~2% per map, which doesn't feel bad. That strat is also kind of nice to get gold, which I need to get a full level 10 ship crew. How much more deminishing returns for xp gain is there between 99-100 compared to 98-99? I hope (and kind of doubt) it's anywhere close to what it was in D2.
|
idk the exact amount, anecdotally it feels at least twice as long as 98->99. Not too bad these days though, esp with the EXP Omen as insurance

Yeah 2-3x is probably about right. I liked Harbingers a lot this league for both money making and exp, especially the jumbo pack ones, but they can be pretty rippy when you get a bunch of ball lightnings stacked on you. Rituals actually give a stupid amount of omens, even if you're not actually running the rituals. It's pretty easy to farm up a bunch of amelioration omens if you don't want to buy one just by having them on the map for awhile.
Shrines + rituals (skipping the actual rituals) was pretty good for both exp and gold, though not great a money maker. Ritual's mostly just there to add a bunch of packs to the map, but again, can be super rippy because those tiny blue balls do 10x more damage than is reasonable.
People usually like breach or abyss for exp, but I just dislike the mechanics so I avoid them.
For the gauntlet... good luck. The campaign is turbo fucked this time around. Some of the stuff they added to bosses is gonna defenestrate more than a few people. Definitely overlevel a lot (like 10+) and don't neglect your damage. A bunch of fights have soft enrages that you need high damage to deal with.
As for me, I don't think I'll do the gauntlet. I've done a few in the past and hardcore is just not my thing. I'm also done with the regular league. Took about a mirror or so of investment, but I finally got a build together that could clear the Fetid Pool so my 40/40 is done. I think my overall kills clocked in around 3.4 or 3.5 million with two level 100s and a level 94 that never quite came together how I wanted (damage and clear were strong, defenses were lacking and the FPS drops were horrid). The build really highlighted just how abysmal of a place spell mana costs are in. I really hope they make changes, e.g. way more ways to invest in meaningful cost reduction.
Overall a pretty good league. Faustus was definitely the major reason for it. I hope they dial back the gold sinks in future leagues and reign in T17s a lot more. I would've liked to do more with the black market gambling, so hopefully future gold-related changes make that more feasible. I also hope they leave recombinators as-is, but it feels like they might think they went too far and just remove it again.

Thank you! I also have rituals and a few shrine nodes. Basically to get as many packs as possible. Harbinger+Abyss refered to the scarabs I'm using. I also dislike Abyss and Breach but I found Abyss is a bit less annoying in more open maps (running Underground Sea) with a lot of added packs because it reduces the chance of having to backtrack through empty areas just for the abyss.
Rituals indeed supply me with more than enough Omens of Amelioration. The green balls are a bit overtuned indeed but I feel as long as you keep moving they are not an issue. Harbingers Kings are less rippy than I remember although the reason for that is probably the tankiness of my build. As I said, the build is not really dying unless I'm stupid. E.g. I died once from 98-99 (reached that yesterday before going to bed) because I stopped on burning ground to do some stuff on my second monitor and slowly died over the course of a few minutes...

lmao, gj!

Yeah, money is kind of scarce. I never gambled and I rarely have mappers running. Also, getting lvl 10 workers costs more money than I thought. Yesterday I spent a few 100k on rerolls and didn't get a single one...

The most 10s I ever had at once in the league was 9 and that steadily dwindled back to 4 over time. I found it pretty much impossible to keep up with gold unless I was blasting T17s for a large chunk of time every day. The last two weeks I pretty much just abandoned mappers because they were too much of a hassle to both farm gold for and to loot/resupply every 2 hours. It's the kind of thing that was fun for awhile, but eventually trended toward tedious. I'm hoping pretty much none of kingsmarch goes core.

I generally like the feeling of things happening outside of your mapping, but I don't know HOW any of that would go core. I guess you could do an NPC that does mapping things, but I don't know how you do the supporting systems (hirelings and upgrades) in a way that makes sense.
It might just be that gold / faustus are the only things that go core, and that'd be fine imo.

I mean, they could go the Heist/Delve route and I would be all for it. Have Kingsmarch go core but tweak how to upgrade, i.e. make it easier and shift it away from gold a bit. Add some nodes on the atlas passive tree to invest in chance to find ressources/amount of ressources dropped. This way you would have optional content for those who like it and everyone else can ignore it.

Yea I kind of just quit the league at some point because I needed to play a minimum of 1-2 hours just to keep my town running until I got home from work the next day. Usually there's a point in a new league where my motivation starts to wane after weeks of hard grinding, and I really just want to hop on and do a few bosses or maybe run a couple maps and do nothing too grindy. On the lower motivation days it felt really bad being like "fuck I still have to go farm gold for an hour before logging off".

Yeah that happened all the time. There were times when I'd be playing other games with friends and I'd have to make a concerted effort to farm gold before or after or let the town fall idle. There's already a degree of time pressure with how the economy moves, but the gold tax of Kingsmarch really pushed it too far.

I fired my mappers two weeks ago and the league is foundationally better for it for me. I think trying to get my mappers set up is what has killed a lot of my enjoyment of the league.

Yeah I spent most of the league running either 4h shipments with one crew at like 30g/h cost with hope of hitting the pirate, or full crews sending 200k-1m shipments which came back with divs reasonably consistently. I did mappers for the challenge but hated it, loot was garbage and the micro of setting up maps, replacing dead mappers, and looting was more annoying than it was worth.

In about a month from now, we'll be doing a livestream that covers all the content of Early Access for Path of Exile 2, and how you'll be able to gain access.
We won't reveal too much just yet, but we'd like to clarify that just like Fall of Oriath, entry to Early Access will be gained by purchasing one of the new Supporter Packs containing a key. These new Supporter Packs will be revealed during the livestream. Players that meet a threshold of lifetime support in Path of Exile 1 will also be invited to participate in Early Access without needing to purchase a key.

Interesting strategy. I'm not sure it works though? From anecdotal evidence (my own) the chance of the pirate appearing might correlate with the shipment value. I haven't had a pirate on low value shipments ever but on 700k-1m shipments he occurs relatively frequently. I don't think his appearence correlates with the risk involved but I might be wrong on that.

Can they just make PoE2 buy to play? -.- Thank you.

Risk doesn't matter for anything, that was tested early on. There were anecdotal reports about shipment value's effect, but I don't know of anything proven. I've had ships abducted on minimum value shipments, though I couldn't say how many.
Zizaran seemed to think it'll be a $30 supporter pack to get access or $480 lifetime spending. I guess that's what the numbers were for Fall of Oriath.

Ah ok. I feel like the 500 $ was mentioned by GGG weeks ago but I don't remember where I heard/read that.
