They just sound a little "baity" to me.
Also consider that you`re going to be squishy and already damaging yourself. Then imagine what prox shield mobs do to your build until you can get in and INSTANTLY kill and explode everything.
I wouldnt start it or switch early, theres less frustrating ways to start a league.

Thats kinda what i figured. I once ran Herald of Lightning but with at least some currency behind back in the day when you did it as Assassin but that was very squishy and horrible against Bosses. Fromw hat i gathered it's much better now even on low budget but I somehow doubt it's as "easy" as many of these vids suggest.
Well.. Deaths Oath/Caustic Arrow it is I guess.
Or raining Men if i feel daring (or drunk) on leaguestart :p.

I might bait myself into cold conversion exsanguinate sanguimancy, but I'm not sure how masochistic I'm feeling. The numbers on Cannibalised Faith are pretty meh for Exsang and you're basically trading 35% worth of auras for the life you gain from Blood Magic/Crimson Power.
Reap has much higher numbers (like you can lifetap Reap and get up to ~900 per cast), but then you're also sustaining ~3k life per second. It's doable with regen investment + overleech, but still easy to kill yourself if you precast too soon.
Does anyone know how spell echo interacts with this? I want to say similar mechanics already exist somewhere. Basically I'm trying to figure out if the repeat cast also benefits from added flat damage or if only the first cast is considered to have a cost.
Some rough POBs I've been playing with (these are intended to be mappers). Disclaimer: I probably fudged some things with configs or gear since I've been moving things around a lot: Early Exsang Ascendant: https://pobb.in/dE9u0CH-4Dv0 Exsang Ascendant: https://pobb.in/xgVLwCNFXdzh Reap Ascendant: https://pobb.in/md1NFd5Cy-jI Reap Elementalist version w/ lifetap: https://pobb.in/-oYePSlXJ_hu
Unleashed Potential FF/F are usually very cheap, like 1 div initially dropping to 50c. My thought for league start would be to get this (50 second charge duration), get power charges via assassin's mark, frenzy via raider, and brutal charges (endurance) via Enduring Cry (which is instant since already next to Call to Arms for Blood Magic & Champion of the Cause).
Gearwise I think you'd just go es/armor on slots and try to get as much of armor/es/life on each as possible. Eventually it goes into Fourth Vow/Xibaqua with Petrified Blood + Pain Attunement + Bloodnotch + Immutable Force. Crimson Power sets your ES to 0, which makes the stun threshold also 0 via ES mastery. I reckon between that and 5 endurance charges + 20-40k armor (flasks) you should be very tanky for general content.

Quite a few interesting ones in there. Gotta be careful with the math though, some of the effects look ultra strong at first glance, but the toned base dmg and added damage effectiveness way down in return. Theres going to be a lot of POB usage necessary in most cases...
The ones i find interesting so far are the arc ones (Arc totem revival to test them all maybe? I might actually do that, i do like totems), the conc path one (lost 50% dmg effectiveness compared to regular, but with endurance charge stacking i could see gigantic AOE and decent dmg on this), and maybe the Burning Arrow one (Needs a lot of math i suppose to figure out if its worth it and under which circumstances, or if its simply not worth it at all when you could just play EA ignite stuff instead.
They also made the explody cremation that was used by simul farmers a gem version, but with single cremation only.
Theres for sure A FUCKTON of stuff to play with and test, i`m kinda hyped

i see a massive speed nerf: placement speed(totems), throw speed(trap and mine), proj speed(attacks and spells), minions' speed ...
i see ~230? base active skills in poe(~275 minus some curses/auras/cries - according to fandom); with each having 2 modified versions ... target farming looks impossible(even with some amount of farming, 'cause maybe you'll get something usable/you want to play, it looks like a fools errand).
i see huge damage coming from the affliction mobs: apart from massive hits, we'll get persistent debuff auras on us from within the "mist", flickers and chains and maims and reductions and removals and disablings ... people will die faster than they did at the start of perandus league.
i see the league lasting for 6 months/until they start poe2 beta(they might finish releasing some of the modified skills during the league).
i don't know men, i don't see the light. we've had buffs to skill damage before, and it amounted to nothing in practice; it's like that now ...
|
They've said that they wanted to stagger leagues between the two games so I would guess that this one will go four months so they can start poe2 in the middle of the cycle and treat the beta as the start of that pattern.
|
sure, but there's a difference between alpha testing and the actual poe2 game release(alpha can go on for months, and then restarted, and then turned into beta, and etcetc).
|
Huh, lot of changes - browsing the patch notes, can Heist blueprints now have the three remaning types of blueprint rewards in different wings of the same blueprint, or will they still choose one of replicas+experimented bases/currency/enchanted armaments for all the wings?
I dipped out of TotA fairly early on in SSF (failed my first Formed invitation while a bit undergeared, lol) and never actually stepped into the league mechanic after hoarding coins - finding it a bit hard to find time for PoE with a toddler and lots of work/house stuff going on. Still, nice to get a little buzz from everyone's leaguestart theorycrafting

It sounded like it was going to be completely random when you arrive at the end, as in you could have an assortment of different types, but I'm not sure if that's been clarified.
I'm really hoping this isn't another extended league. They've already delayed every league for what feels like 1.5 years now; it's time for them to get back on schedule. The current release date is back to what was their old normal (early Dec), so hopefully they keep going with that.
The most interesting gems are probably:
- Arc 50% more per chain but half added/effectiveness
- Cold Snap for Power Charge on crit & for bypassing cd + 10% base crit
- Cyclone with 25% more aspd per stage but 10% less movement speed per stage (Jugg maybe? not sure if anything else ignores movement stuff)
- Cleave with rage (can get literal screen sized cleaves with rage stacking plus all the benefits of rage itself)
- Blade Blast of Unloading just seems interesting
New gems part 2: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3452250
- Ethereal Knives circle version is back. Seems otherwise unchanged.
- Eye of Winter ones are interesting. Transience seems to be more about up front damage instead of abusing return mechanics. Much higher base damage, projectiles affect shards instead of final spiral, has more proj speed, and doesn't seem to have a final spiral at all. Usable as self cast maybe??
- Forbidden Rite of Soul Sacrifice
seems to just be a really easy to use CI version. 15% ES instead of 5% ES + 12% life. It now costs life instead of mana, a la Reap. You could still do low life stuff since it doesn't damage your life at all.
- Lightning Strike of Arcing is basically Cobra Lash. No extra projectiles, but same base damage, 200% damage effectiveness (down from 225) and 9 inherent chains with 10% more damage per chain. You should still get projectiles from quality (1 per 20). Seems really strong.

Uh, so they added back functionality which they removed when throwing threshold jewels into the garbage bin. At least I could try this again now, even though I wish I could have played this build in Sanctum.
|
I think part of their intention with this is to rehash the enchantments, threshold jewels, and lab enchants into a better system.

Did anyone end up playing with the Flamewood support? I heard it was a little buggy at first (used accuracy?) but got fixed. Did it end up in a state where it was generally useable, or were there enough bosses etc that didn't actually attack it/trigger it to make it only useful for targeted content? (quick browse shows a lot of use with Black Zenith gloves; I assumed you could start with Sire of Shards)

I saw a video where apparently it has really high damage potential, because Vaal Ancestral Warchief (or Rejuvination? IDK) has huge HP. but its clunky as hell

I don't have a lot of time to play this go around. Thinking of HC Trade but idk how availability of the new stuff will be

I'm probably going to play the Divine Ire, but I'm still not totally sure. I will maybe change my opinion about my league starter.
And for the second character I will play with a friend. He will play poison SRS necromancer with the Envy sword (united in dream) giving all our minion flat chaos damage, and I will play Arakaali Spider Occultist with all her utility for the party (wither, multicurse, -chaos res, etc). 20 raging spirits and 20 spiders poisoning everything will be a mess in the screen for sure.
Some weeks later I probably will play a third build with some of the new transfiguration gems, I will have more info about them.

Would you go divine ire ignite then? Or with totems? Or just... hitbased, self cast? Because i feel the latter will probably still feel kinda clunky.
Having played both poison SRS and (pre-slightly-nerfed) spiders, your second idea sounds pretty cool and chaotic Depending on your spider gear, your friend might not get to do a lot while mapping though. Occultist pops made clear feel pretty silly when i played it, and spiders where pretty fast. Does anybody know how the poison dmg cap works in groups btw? Is it still capped at like... 30+ mio, or is that a "per player" thing? Not sure if this will even be something you`ll run into w/o super high invest though...

The dot cap limits how much dmg a monster can take from damage over time. So a party full of dot characters will never do more than 35mil dps.

Part 3: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3452473
Shield Crush one as fire is a little interesting. Similar changes as the cold SST.
Cold SST but only for Dexterity on shield with slower attack but higher damage and scaling and no need for conversion. I couldn't find a unique shield that looked worth using here. Feels like a build where you'd need to acquire a good shield before rerolling.
Hit-based Soulrend could be interesting, though still gonna have the issue of needing more projectiles. The Spectral Helix version doesn't interest me at all.
Chaos golem giving minions wither on hit is gonna be broken for minion poison builds. Looks like you can get 3 golem limit (Hordes) for each golem. Not sure how that shakes out if every golem you're using has that, but could end up with a comically large amount.
Void Sphere maybe usable as a main damage skill.

Cheers for those - was thinking more an SSF approach, and it looks like some bosses were changed mid-league - e.g. "Damage dealt by the small tentacles in The Eater of Worlds boss fight are now considered to be from The Eater of Worlds, rather than the tentacles. Due to this, Avenging Flame will now target the Eater of Worlds when hit by a tentacle, and the damage dealt by the tentacles will be affected by Invitation modifiers such as Unique Boss Damage." from patch 3.22.1d made the fight possible for Flamewood totems, but I think things like Drox or the Siege / Tukohama boss will still be a pain ... not sure how e.g. Blight monsters would interact.

Lots of minion stuff in batch 3. I like that theres melee / ranged / caster versions of skellies now. Slamming zombies are still in there with an alt version of the gem. No idea how good falling zombie is going to be, but i find it hilarious. + Show Spoiler +
The wild strike one is also a bit special i guess? Costs 24mana, 24 life, 24 ES ? That seems like a steep increase over the 6 mana base cost the old one has, considering you gain... an ele dmg mastery and 9% dmg effectiveness. Or maybe it costs one of those depending on the type of dmg chosen? But i guess they would have described that somehow.
Oh, also - the 100% crit srs with a max of 6 skulls? replica midnight bargain doubles that to 12 together with inc dmg and MS for 30% life reserve, and i feel 12 is still something that you could keep up somewhat w/o unleash. Or maybe with severed in sleep - no life reservation, get 75% crit multi via withered and envy. So much to think about and play around with...
