Nice gratz! That happened last league with my Spark Inquisitor (97 as well). Just stopped dying and was so fun to map with.
This league I'm only at 87 yet... The damage of Holy Relic is astounding for no investment but I don't like the gameplay... My second char is in A10 but I don't have enough money to deck it out yet.

That was when Fortify was still useable for any attack and the damage of mobs also wasn't quite as high. I think right now the Relics would have large issues surviving stuff like 5 mod Essences, not to speak of Lake mobs. Lake mobs are ridiculous at higher tiers, the only reason I managed to get to 97 was because I saved up all the Lakes to run them after I leveled. I died a shit ton doing them ... my totems feel unkillable at times, tanking stuff like shaper balls, 10 ways etc. Their survivability really shocked me. In Lake however? They are fine against some mobs but others completely wreck them.

I'm playing with Static Strike because I don't like the immobility of cyclone (never have, already disliked it in D2). It's just clunky with hitting and the relic are glued to my bottom. Their trigger range is also strange. And yeah, if they die it feels really bad. Need to place the banner, cast one, wait for mana, cast another one... There is also no in between. Either they wreck everything or they die and it takes me a couple seconds to realise why nothing is dying...

I couldn't stand Static Strike back when I played it. Might be preferences I guess. Cyclone has several advantages imo, it's a smoother gameplay, you can use better support links (Maim works well on Cyclone, and Infused Channeling makes you more tanky), and against tough mobs Cyclone is just great since you are always moving.

I got Bane/ED to 89 before deciding I was hitting the usual Bane/ED wall of things-are-too-expensive, so I made a Cold BV that's at 70. I enjoy walking through enemies so much faster but it's such a rippy setup lol.

To get back to you, Static Strike feels fine now with enough attack speed. However, the build itself feels still bad. It's super slow but the worst offender is the when the relics die. I have to run out, deactivate my banner, cast one, wait, cast another one, recast the banner, run in again. Often they die again immediately so I have to do this process multiple times for one group. Usually they either never die or I hit a pack that completely wrecks them... There is little in between. And this is after I crafted a fairly nice staff, hitting T2 IAS followed by an 1/5 yolo annul to remove a prefix to be able to bench craft +2 support gems...On the flipside, I wasted 3500 fusings until I snapped and used the bench craft. I honestly don't know what pushed me to try to manual six link as I only ever six linked one item manually in all these years... Anyways, my point is the gear is not even bad and I'm running nothing special, just alch and go red maps... The character itself is tanky af though. I ran a vaal temple and got too annoyed by my relics dying over and over during the boss fight so I switched to my LS raider, which got deleted within a second after stepping out of the portal, lol. I didn't realise the difference in tankiness was that much. Speaking of the LS Raider, it is nice for Heist, which was my plan. I don't really like LS, either, though. It's my second time playing it and there is such a huge difference between clear (great) and single target dps (very unreliable). That is because a tanky melee foe will always come too close so my projectiles won't hit so I have to constantly move away, losing dps either way...
I think I chose the wrong builds this league. I'm not really having fun. I wanted to play Rage Vortex next but I think I will postpone that until next league or so and quit for now.

Yeah what you say makes sense. I'm sort of happy I didn't play it this league and went with the Artillery Ballista build which was a complete gamble. But I kept getting upgrades (mostly with Rog) and my build become more and more solid and I did absolutely everything aside from the ubers and Feared. And Trialmaster I guess, maybe I'll find the motivation to play some more PoE in some days/weeks, getting Trialmaster would also help me with one more challenge but I already killed like 8 of the vaal delve bosses and they didn't drop the item.

Apparently the most recent patch improved the drop rate for the fragment from the delve boss massively. I have heard it should be close to 50 % now. Glad to hear your build went so well. =)
I actually forgot about the challenges. I skimmed over them at the start of the league and they seemed so much easier than last league. However, the rewards this league are very unappealing to me. There is literally nothing I would ever consider using.

I dunno if people who play for longer enjoy the new challenge system, but I'm not a fan - even though its more stuff. Before as semi casual I could aim for 24 challenge and that was relatively simple... with the evolving MTX stuff it feels like im getting like half an mtx

Kind of depends. I never cared for challenges before Sentinel. I would call it an odd one out because I liked the amour set and also enjoyed the league a lot so I ended up looking at it as an incentive to push my chars a bit further than I might have otherwise. I aimed for 20 challenges to get the full armour set and ended up at 25. The only thing that annoyed me in Sentinel was the amount of RNG. Like, I was running Harvest on every map for weeks and never got a harvest boss. That's just silly.
All that being said, I can't really say if I like the new system better yet. If I cared for the wings or the glowy armour, both of which make the set look worse for me, it might have felt bad because I knew I wouldn't be able to achieve 36-40 challenges. Same for this league, although the challenges are much easier to complete this season. If they can balance how easy it is to achieve certain reward tresholds I think it can be a superior system. I don't think I will ever fall into the category of "aiming for 24 challenges" (or whatever the treshold is) just because. Either I like the reward and league so it will be an extra incentive or I don't and I will ignore the challenges.

I like the tiers this league. Thing is, the MTX is not for everyone, some like it, some think it looks trash / doesn't fit in PoE. But IMO some of the T4 are completely overkill so I like the T3 better, which makes it less bad to not get T4.

I'll play endless delve for sure, its a pretty fun even.
I may try mayhen but im not a fan of it. Dont fell like having 20harby in a map at lvl 10
Will also probably try endless deli if the fix they did are good enough

I will likely play Endless Delve. It was fun last time. I might try Mayhem this time. Delirium Everywhere is a clear skip for me.
|
Delirium combined with Archnemesis sounds annoying.
My favourite event last year was the one with the 5 random bosses in every map dropping 3 unique items each one. You got so many uniques that it was fun to level with tabula, goldrim, etc. So I'm dissapointed they choosed the Delirium everywhere instead.
I guess I'll play endless delve (altough they could have added the crafting table).

i think it would be hard to put the bench there, just like they won't prevent map/chisel/etc to drop

Definitely same feeling for me. Current PoE it's no challenge for me at all to do that anymore. Only thing that I find a bit too brutal are the gem changes. But then again I've played PoE a lot when gem vendors didn't exist.

Lets say you get to merveil and you can't buy a cold resist ring and drop rates are terrible. Seems like it just forces you to play a spell build as they're less dependent on items. Slowing down progression doesn't add challenge to the game sadly.

You can also overlevel and get life alternatively. I don't think the mode was meant to be smooth sailing through the campaign without any grind in between. I haven't read the news yet though. Will do that soon. I'm very sure I will give it a go sometime but I doubt it's going to be my main mode.
