Since i stopped playing much for the first 2-3 days of a league (reaching maps probably tomorrow), i normally avoid the harshest problems of "beta week". You should try it, after the first 1-2 leagues it doesn't even feel strange and the game is more fun .

This obviously isn't a good thing but at least most stuff gets fixed pretty fast usually.

No, I'm with you - I usually just watch the first couple weeks of any league I play because inevitably something is going to go horribly wrong, hah. I'm still casually chipping away so I'm at least in maps and such when things get fixed. I wish they'd do better playtesting to sort out these issues and I think after ten years they should be better at it, but world ain't perfect.

People who say GGG should have communicated this beforehand, including myself, are both correct and wrong at the same time. I think they should have communicated it. I assume they tried to hide this and hoped nobody would notice. This would be a pretty bad sign tbh because to me it would show that GGG has partly given up on communication because the loud part of the community (i.e. reddit) is so insanely toxic and unreasonable that they are unable to please them _and_ implement their vision in any way, shape or form. I liked how open GGG was but this dishonesty, if it's the case, speaks boundaries about the widening gap between GGG and the community. One argument in favour of this theory is the stealth nerf to bases they admitted to.

"Monsters can no longer be found with the Empowering Minions modifier during the campaign."

I had 2 of these and found this very funny as they turned into 6 archnemesis mod rares and I had the patch notes in mind saying "no more than 2!". I also finished the "unnatural foes" challenge before reaching maps. I'm not sure they intended that.

Not quite true.

The second reason is that we removed a massive historic bonus to item quantity and/or rarity that applied to some league-specific monsters. We replaced it with a moderate (2-3x) increase to item quantity, to offset the fact that they often have more life than regular monsters and some cannot drop maps.

I still feel like either something got really fucky with numbers some way or they're flat-out lying, and I don't feel like they've had a precedent of doing the latter outright.

With regards to the stealth changes to drops, they did also mention during streams that they've also been stealthily increasing drops for years, so I wonder where the outrage is for that. Hmm. Something about double standards, eh?

I think the SSF issue is mostly to do with end-game item progression with the crippling Harvest nerfs. I'm not really sure what options are left. Also loot droprate nerf in general has skyrocketed the prices of things on trade - some uniques went from like 5-10c to like 20e/d which is some crazy inflation.

It does seem like blue map sustain is perfectly fine though, and after going "hmm?" early in campaign my mapping sort of stabilized. It's in a "whatever" state now, where once Lake becomes less unrewarding it should give item acquisition decent bump, unwieldiness of the map and retries aside. I just worry about the ability to scale gear past a certain point.

Also there is a much higher focus on well-rolled uniques from what I can tell, since you cannot just divine them up. I'm not yet sure if I like that change, but at least it is interesting and makes it more reasonable to pick up some more uniques to see how they have rolled.

I believe you can still divine the uniques - they're just harder to come by because the 6L recipe is gone and because you use them for some of the crafting bench options.

They also moved the rarity-tiers for some uniques which makes them considerably rarer while at the same time they might be in higher demand because of the buffs they got.

Of course you can still do it, but the difference between a well-rolled unique chest and a not so well-rolled feels a lot more meaningful when the price difference is equivalent to what used to be several exalts. :D

Good point about the change in rarity, I havent really paid any attention to that, yet. I guess thats due to my current build not really needing any uniques that arent boss drops.

Evo, Gunde, and I are going to do a mini-leaguestart in a new Private League, since Evo's just starting and a fresh start seems fun with the buffs & fixes.

Going to be "Guild Self Found", Kalandra SC, so we can share with each other a bit. Starting Tuesday, unsure on time. Base duration is 10 days then it folds back into regular Kalandra SC.

Not sure how active we all will be, but I'll at least play the full 10 days. Just us atm, but anyone is welcome to join whenever if if a 2nd leaguestart sounds fun to you Post here or DM if interested

Sounds cool, but also low on time / just hit 90 / T16s / L20 gems on my one character in SSF - just trying to finish grinding out my atlas, a 6L and a few bits and pieces / challenges.

Enjoying the league / trying not to look at Reddit, ha. I don't mind ArchNemesis monsters / quite nice to have regular content where you'll mix up the rewards for 6Ls/flasks/jewels etc.

yeah nbd. maybe a Guild SF at league start could be fun in the future - I haven't tried limited GSF like that before

Reached lvl 97, my highest level ever, on my Artillery Ballista Chieftain starter in SSF Kalandra league. It kinda happened since my char stopped dying even though I was doing 8 mod maps, shaper/elder guardians etc. So kinda good build I guess... Although I got decently lucky on my gear, had 6L drop fairly early and Rog delivered on a couple items, such as a decent bow.

Oh, congrats - always love when you level higher than planned due to not dying, ha.

Any chance you could share a PoB / link your character (had a quick look on poe.ninja but I guess yr profile's private?)? Still looking for inspiration for my AB Chieftain, had vaguely hoping someone would be doing testing for AOE breakpoints but unlike Blast Rain, you can't muck around with reflected poison to count overlap/shotgunning.

I sent you a PM with detailed infos. As for the AoE, it's huge and it's really impossible to tell. More projectiles are good (although probably just for even more clear), more AoE is good for more overlap. That's what I can tell, not more lol. Some bosses are big and you will hit them more, and even more with bigger AoE.
