Are you thinking about the Assassin crit node? Because otherwise I dont think theres any mobs that would be affected by this change.
Yes and minion instability
Think we will have to wait on the patch notes for that. But i would be very surprised if these nodes would use the new 50% threshold. My guess would be that they`ll change the wording on that somehow. Oooooor they just DONT change the wording, and the same wording means something completely different based on context (*cough* nearby *cough*).
So any ideas of what you guys want to play next league? Or are you waiting until you see the patch notes? I'm split between 3 ideas. Arma Brand into fire dot stacking is something I wanted to play last league but didn't. I'm also looking at bleed bow, especially with the new gems. Either Glad or Scion (Scion looks good as you could get max block as well). Or a Raider, as I would like to farm Heists quickly next league. Looking at either Toxic Rain or BB/BF Archmage with some fortify stacking.
In the meanwhile, do you mind sharing what you played in Ritual? I only played 3 builds but was pretty happy with them.
1. Caustic Arrow Trap Champion (starter, https://pastebin.com/5pJJDuxW). First 3 acts were horrible but it only got better from there. Transitioned smooth into mapping basically without investment. Terrible for killing bosses but it got me enough currency from mapping and heist.
2. Frost Bomb Archmage Elementalist (https://pastebin.com/TsihkshX). Hits like a truck honestly. I mean I was never much of a dps build player but this one deleted bosses for my standards with conc effect and cleared whole screens with awakened spell echo. Really fun build imho.
3. Molten Strike Berserker (https://pastebin.com/kEXe48kY). I always wanted to make a ramp up in speed build like the frenzy barb in d2, which was my favourite build there. And while it's not exactly that, it's similar and I get to 15 a/s with onslaught up, which is quite funny. I'm also finally happy with the tankiness but I still can get killed in maps randomly, which I think is a bit stupid as I don't think I skimped on defenses (see below). Also, the most annoying thing as melee is vine snare... Fuck that ability. Maybe I'll try something like this again but with Frenzy. Probably not next league though.
I find it hard to make a character tanky nowadays. I mean, for example on my way to 96 I got randomly chuck to 10 % and then 0 within less then a second by a rare stygian revenant or something around it. That's with 6,5 k life, fortify, molten shell and 90% phys mitigation/max res. I still don't know what it was. There wasn't much honestly. Just the rare and a handful of white mobs. On death effects shouldn't happen because of explode. I feel like I only die either because I don't see anything or because I can't see anything... Back in the day, in those over-powered first days of the league at least you knew what killed you.
I wanna have my first endgame maven encounters on HC, but I don't think I'll have the time to play SSF. Gunde/Echelon/Evo HC trade gang reunion? Otherwise I'll just suck it up and play SC.
Discharge elementalist ---> Gets into redmaps but whiteout big investment gets stuck there. Fun for what it was but in general too squishy for my liking. Cold-BV Pathfinder ---> Startet this whit the bare minimum of gear necessary (cluster jewels) and it was smooth sailing thru everything i tried. Obviously a very meta build and for good reason.
Chaos-Slinger in Gauntled but just to lvl 75/maps, didn't die but got some wird mixture of boredoom and stress so didn't go for lvl 80+ :D.
Played a lot of stuff into the low 80s but couldn't find the right char this time. - FP-Totems (only char into the 90s) -> strong, safe but in the end I only enjoyed the content I could beat with it, not the build - General's cry Berserker -> great bossing dmg, felt okay, lost motivation after a few dozen lighthouses without dropping the shield - Bleed Bow Glad -> wanted to try this but my Bow-Char ideal is the d3-multishot-set and this did not give me similar vibes - frost bomb elem -> the build I wanted to play at the start of the season. did not get a pledge, leveled it just to see how the playstyle works for me
In the end it's the same as every season. I'm neither good nor patient enough to "finish" a build on ssf. Think the char that caught my attention the longest was a poison bv assassin during metamorph. Maybe I should try that again for Ultimatum.

Why play ssf then? Sounds like a frustrating experience. You could still play very much like ssf on trade and just buy stuff when you run out of luck to get the stuff you need (pledge, shield?).

That's what I thought I would do before leaguestart but after a few days I felt I wouldn't have earned whatever I achieve. So I was in trade league on some of those chars, I just never traded. (And I still notice I'm improving each league it's just a sloooooow process.)
Did anybody use battlemage on inquis? How does that one work exactly? Is the added spell damage just the weapon damage on the weapon tooltip? Like, for a super stupid wiki example - say i use dreadarc, and it says "(20.4-32.4)–(66-72) physical damage (5-15)–(20-25) fire damage", then i get exactly that as added flat spell damage?
Just tinkering around in pob right now, and thinking of good weapons to use here (besides vulconus, i dont see myself seeing one in the first few days...).
I could see the upgraded Stormheart staff (Stormwall) being a neat starter weapon for phys spell conversion stuff if it works like that. Tons of added flat phys, and full conversion (50/50 cold/lightning). Only "bad" thing is with battlemage you cant really get the ignore res node as inquis unless you leave the imba regen node out, so conversion into two elements makes pen a bit harder.
I have seen some poe.ninja build with Dyadus a while back, don't remember much about it anymore though... Can't tell you much about it, since I never wanted to try it out considering I just hate idea of having to switch between attacks and spells for full potential.

Ah hm. I guess there is no easy solution then. I mean, realistically you still earned what you got, just by deterministic means instead of basically playing the lottery. But I can see where you are coming from. It's the same sentiment a lot of people share when it comes to crafting vs buying.

I think you are talking about a different node. Battlemage is just added damage from your main hand weapon. The one after is the one which gives you bonuses if you switch between attacks/spells.
To the original question: Yes, that should be how it works. It should still be affected by damage effectiveness of the spell you are using. But yeah, it can be a lot of flat damage added.
I'll probably will start with divine ire ignite elementalist. With shaper of flames, you have permanent elemental equilibrium (the hit is lightning applying EE vulnerability to fire and the ignite damage is fire). The build has cheap investment for good damage and I like to charge big lasers (for clear just use ignite proliferation).
For my second character later in the league I'm thinking about Penance Brand Assasin, because I will play this one with a friend that will go auras. So I will try some triple conversion there from lightning to cold to fire. This is a most expensive project but I've never tried a synergized "duo" with a friend. I'm still a bit confused about how Penance Brand works, but I think it is just important to get a good casting speed before switching to it.
I would like to try too some of the new gems. The new archetype of low-life, life using caster sounds interesting, but I will wait some weeks until there are some decent builds on poe.ninja or internet.
Reading about what you guys played and being hyped for Ultimatum motivated me to play again to finish the season on a fun note. Remembered the cwc-bodysawp which I dropped the weapon (Martyr of Innocence - what an ugly model) for during the league. Played it only in low acts on a low level but I enjoyed that tremendously (partially because I didn't care for currency-drops :D)

Are there any good guides/video of this? Especially how it performs in white/yellow maps with starter gear? It was something I thought about a lot last league but never looked into, and I know I've heard it floating around but there were also a lot of people doing inquis shenanigans last league too when it came to self-cast and I just lost track.
I think I already know what I'm starting this league, build I didn't do last league because our private league was running out at the time, but the DI Elementalist is something I might consider too. Would be private league / SSF.

Do you really have to wait that much tho? Or did you play without holy conquest from cluster jewel somehow?
If they want to duo it with aura bot, i suppose its mostly meant for juiced mapping. And in that case i`m pretty sure you`ll use holy conquest.

This thread has interesting discussion and tips in the last 20 pages.
Ignore the PoB in the first page because it is kinda outdated. But there are several PoB that were posted in the last pages of the thread like this one and this one
You convert to 100% lightning with divine wrath in the tree and some 25% conversion gloves. Auras are Hatred, Malevolance (and in lategame if you reduce mana reservation, you can add herald of purity). Your initial hit being lightning/cold (avoid fire). Scale, Fire DoT, DoT multiplier, Elemental damage, etc.
The main ascendancy nodes are Shaper of Flames and the golem nodes. The last labirinth node could be Mastermind of discord (DPS), Bastion of Elements (more defensive) or Shaper of Storms (good DPS but you must get some shock gear and gems).
Storm Brand with hextouch flammability and combustion is good at start (you can get a curse ring later). Some people use Wave of Conviction because the exposure, it is obligatory if you take Mastermind of Discord. But you need added fire damage support and be careful about WoC messing with the elemental equilibrium (use divine ire or storm brand right after exposure).
You can use staff for good damage (+3 to gems) and some block. You can also use sceptre/shield for more defense (and can use "trigger socketed gem" for storm brand / wave of conviction). Don't use wands because spell damage doesn't affect ignite (except maybe obliteration at league start, because the chaos explosions ignite)
For golems, in a 4-link you can link 3 of your 4 golems with meat shield or empower (level 22 chaos golem is useful). It is less common but I'm thinking about using a 6- link in the chest (with a staff for DI) and link the 4 golems with meat shield and empower.
Gear is very basic and can league start with anything. The only mandatory gear are some flasks like Atziri's. The primordial chain is a very good amulet too.
I hope it is useful, I've been researching lately too and I plan to create my own PoB mixing several ones and poe.ninja builds.

Yeah. The idea was using holy conquest for mapping. With my friend's Zealotry, Hatred, Haste and Wrath it should be great. I don't know if I should get some MF gear or not (first time playing duo like that).

If you can use some MF gear without comprosing clear too much (and that should be possible with all the support auras), i`d do it tbh. Afaik the multiplier for quant that you get from multiple party members is multiplicative (MORE!) with your own quant / map quant. So quant on you, if you do all the killing is worth more.
I am as always undecided about what to build to play and will wait for the Patch Notes. As for the league choice i will start with ssf sc. I might play some HC private league later on...
As for league Starters i currently consider Bleed - Glad with Corrupting Fever and the Lifetap Support or maybe Toxic Rain into Elemental Hit Ranger, which i have not played yet after the revamp.
Btw is there any other way but Atziris Reflection for utilizing Cowards Legacy if you dont like dieing ? I love the idea of the Bloodthirst Support but imagine it will feel very bad to stack Life and still have a supper small life pool most of the time if you play it with Petrified Blood.

Not really a good one especially considering cowards legacy also has curse effect on top - I dont think the soul mantle way of dealing with it (kikazarus, numbing elixir medium cluster notables, sanctum of thought on tree for 20%) works here. Especially considering sanctum of thought is near templar, and you`d probably have to anoint it.
Curse mod on kikazarus works with caster catalysts tho - as does the same mod on crusader rings. The latter go up to 35% reduced curse effect on you before catalysts and could maybe be another option.
