I definitely got owned by Breach, Abyss, Bestiary, Incursion, Betrayal, and Synthesis mechanics in act 1.
idk, last league I started with a really strong leveling character (Caustic Arrow Raider) so I never really considered the Betrayal content hard until I saw someone playing another build.

That's pretty good, so far my best drop this league has been 2 socket bubonic

i don't even have a build; screwed around with a hierophant and storm burst but i don't see it. testing, checking, PoBing ...
started PoE as trapper, i was a trapper as base play style(i caught the trap ignite-prolif meta, those were some good times) until it was nerfed, then i realized totems are better in every way so i've been toteming ever since. i didn't liked the patch in which traps were messed with(loss of cd then the dmg nerf, mehhh) so i kept toteming( last league i had a really good chieftain AW, facebreakers, full fire conversion(with the quiver) that i really liked).
now i'm mainly looking at trappers, non-squish ones but i just don't see any.

Isn't the Saboteur/Tinkerskin/EB trapper archetype still quite tanky? Trap damage got nerfed a bit in Delve after they were super-meta in Incursion, but defenses were untouched. Born in the Shadows is a really, really strong node.
Also, Ice Trap got an absurdly huge buff this league (55% more base damage, 90% > 150% added damage effectiveness, AoE buff).
*edit* If you want tanky, going EB/MoM hybrid with Devouring Diadem ought to be pretty strong, right?
|
The problem with Devouring Diadems is that like 5 of them were dropped this league so far lul
|
Oh yikes, they were so cheap last league but it makes sense that they'd be hard to get now that Syndicate isn't in every zone.

Tinkerskin was more niche than archetype and more squish than tanky. its really sucky interaction with Chain Reaction(talking about its recover proccing a single time per chain reaction procc, which could be anywhere between 3-4 traps to 9+ traps giving 100life and 50es) made it to snowflakey to actually matter.
Born in the Shadows is something i like but it can't redeem everything else(ascendancies give AoE boosts but then what about lightning trap?; a conditional fork/chain/+1, i don't know, something).
mines i kind of like(the bonuses only for "you detonating..." screw over the totem+detonate shenanigans), i don't mind the play style and i was really hoping i can put one of the new skills on a mine, but they just suck, are explicitly forbidden to be on a mine, or it takes to much to make it decent mechanically(GMPs and such).
i see icetrap as single target; there's no zoomzoom potential there. overall, one can make a better trapper with the elementalist since traps get the conflux, the pen, some of the prolif and the overall huge dmg of the ascendancy(elementalist+raiz+lightning trap). deadeye can be a better trapper/miner as far as projectile skills go(kb miner, gogogo, ZOOMZOOM). i'm struggling to find the appeal of saboteur.
plus, i'm one of them ssf'ers so in general, things need to have a good starting base(or be try-hard) else there's no enjoyment.
edit: ever since they made it so using skills no longer prevents ES recharge(in EB cases), i find it hard to justify items like The Devouring Diadem. isn't ES recharging anyway?.

I imagine its nice with Occultist 'Recharge is not interrupted if started recently" letting you start up regen while in the middle of combat and it won't immediately be stop again.

But how's that different from dumping said stuff in four separate tabs?

Speed/efficiency. Changing tabs takes a lot of time.

With control + mouse wheel, switching contiguous tabs is merely half a second longer. It’s AutoHotkey I think. I also do miscellaneous dumps while mapping, but separate out a couple things beforehand.

You know you can change tabs via arrow-keys right? That doesn't take very long.
//Oh yeah, and control+scroll.

Yeah it's not really much different than using multiple separate tabs to dump. Just more convenient and less cluttered I guess. Also cheaper (well, compared to 4 Premium tabs at least, since I think you can get like 6 non-Premium tabs for the price of a quad)

It's only good if you're EB/MoM (meaning your recharge would be interrupted by damage, so restarting it is a good thing). If you're just using EB on its own to cast out of your ES pool, then yeah it's not worth using.

The recent change discussed here makes the memory nexus even less rewarding. At this point I don't blame anyone for skipping it completely until GGG buffs the rewards. I found the bugs even more annoying so I'm glad they were and are fixing them, but as it is the memory nexus is still not fun imo (and the crazy dmg mods on a lot of zones don't help).

So after dying in my first map last weekend. I want to give it another try this time. Any fun HC builds that came to light this league? I normally play summoner but got bored of the playstyle. Something very tanky woild be good as I suck and want to see endgame
|
Tanky in endgame would IMO especially be Occultist with for example Winter Orb, Cold DoT with Vortex, and ofc the new chaos skills which are pretty op (Bane, Soulrend). The later skills have the big benefit of ignoring reflect. I'm sure you'll easily find a build for all of these skills on the forums.
If you got problems getting there however, maybe a life based Trickster going Divine Ire (another OP new skill) like AhhCrying did in SSFHC. His char is dead now but he was leading the ladder for a long while. You can check his char here (char name NotCLG_AhhCrying).
Otherwise, if you want something more oldschool just check out Alkaizers character, I think he's playing Molten Strike Jugg. That build is as strong as ever and ofc tanky like most of Alks chars.

Ive completely stopped caring about the nexus. It just doesn't feel worth the time and effort, especially for someone that plays until the inevitable burnout after 2-3 weeks and then stops for the league.

Just don't hit the stabilizer at the end of a reward node and it works the same as before
