The idea is a Guard/Necro Scion summoner that focuses on empowering Zombies/Skeletons/Phantasms with Fire/Lightning damage. It would also function as an aurabot-lite. It would capitalize on the aura synergies between the classes, Elemental Equilibrium with a widespread cold attack for resist shred, Phys->Lightning + Wrath + Lightning Golem for Lightning damage, and Anger + Minion Instability + Necromantic Aegis/Chernobog’s Pillar for Fire damage. I’ll get a bit of Curse support too with Whispers of Doom so I can stack Enfeebled procs from the shield with the elemental resist shred curse.
I’m also thinking of using Victario’s Influence for the aura gems, meaning that the biggest issue I’m dealing with is figuring out how to survive. I’ll definitely be going a lot of Life nodes I think, but I don’t know whether to try for Mind over Matter + more Mana, or try going for ES. Or if I should try dropping some Intelligence-related parts of the build and go more ham on Strength to utilize The Baron for life leeching Zombie damage.
Anyway, I’d appreciate any feedback you can give me! Tell me if it sucks or has been done or whatever. Melee skeletons are not very good unless you are going pure Necro because that always hit ability for skeletons is god like. So I would suggest you go caster skeletons instead. But if you want to really go melee skeletons you need to use Necromantic Aegis and Lycosidae shield so your minions have 100% hit chance.
Baron Zombies are a good way to have good life leech, especially if you combine it with high ES and Ghost Reaver. But this does not synergize well with caster skeletons.

So GGG decides that Bestiary will not be there anymore next league. I'll personally miss it, the beasts were challenging fights, and the things TheUberElite mentioned on reddit for Endgame crafting are very true. Especially going to miss the 5* prophecy recipe, the flask recipes and the horizon orb + harbinger orb recipes.
Also while 99% of the recipes were awful, even some of the rare recipes felt pretty good since they were essentially free chaos usages. Like for rerolling and crafting high level stygian vises or elder helmets. And the menagerie was useless from the beginning, few people visted it more than once.

I played to lvl 90 and captured about every beast i saw. I fought sasquatch once and once got the horizon reciepe. This league was utter trash, some of the concepts would have been cool but the way it was done? Pls no... Might as well just drop all the stuff randomly at you directly after killing a mob.

I have started with HC once again, my highest POE char ever was 65 due to playing HC and being bad at it, let's see if this event is a good opportunity to get to 70

I'm ok with them ditching Beastiary stuff moving forward. When it was introduced it felt like the kind of thing that would need iterating to get right so I figured it'd stick around for a long time and slowly improve as they tweaked recipes, monster rareness/availability, etc. But honestly I've just never been in love with netting beasts a few times every map regardless. It's not really that hard or time consuming, but it's just not that fun either. The decent crafting options are super limited and while it's nice to be able to target specific things like pre/suffix rolls, specific unique types, etc. especially for SSF play, in reality there are always going to be just a couple recipes that everyone farms and spams for big returns (like HH). It seems like too difficult of a thing to get right (i.e. make a lot more recipes worth it, small leveling/QoL things in addition to big gambles) for how cumbersome the monster hunting is. Not to mention the strange effect it can/has had on the economy. Also there are way too many fucking net types.
Hopefully leaving it behind lets them focus resources and effort into something new and more exciting rather than tinkering with it in the background forever. I haven't done a lot of reading about 3.3 stuff yet but it will probably need to be something really sick to interest me. Even though 3.2 was a while ago now, and relatively uninteresting, I've kept dabbling in other shit (SSF, Flashback) in the mean time that I'm still kind of burned out and not ready for a new league start yet lol.

My rng is appallingly bad this race, fuck me. Didn't think anything could top my run on bsc of not getting a "good" drop until 93, but this is looking like a strong contender. Only reason I have any money at all is I no lifed first two days, but even then my rng was attrocious. I levelled from 58-74 in blood aqueducts with 40quant 125 rarity, got 2 sets of tabula, ran quant until lvl 88 before I had to drop it at higher tier maps. No divines/exalts, no uniques valued above 10c, no rares above 20. The one chayula breach I found was on a beyond map, and killing the mobs ended up with "allies cannot die" on two of them, so I got 0 chayula splinters. My uber lab was unlocked at 86, I spent 310 fuses failing to 5 link a volls protector, so I bought a jewellers touch,
But all that's about to change! I've completed an elder ring containng shaped shore, so infinite mobs will carry me to riches.

I just got to maps yesterday :D 20h to get to maps even when I tried to be a bit faster :D

I quit flashback, my build was too squishy so it wasn't very entertaining to play. Storm Call is pretty good damage but its small delay is deadly sometimes. In non SSF it would've been a bit better with a reduced duration helmet enchant.
Anyway, had lvl 88 (would have been mid 89 if not for all the deaths) and had 5/6 uber lab trials only... The first 5 were done at like lvl 82 but after that I really found only two trials for whatever reason....

I'm done with flashback too tbh, I think this was my last hurrah as well in the game. Damage has gotten stupid both on mobs and people, balance has been horrendously out of wack defensive wise for the shadow since I started playing, they progressively manage to find fun builds and just kill them, and now we're left with this skeleton, where the only truly viable builds for the hardest bosses in the game are tanks, or some type of duelist.
The time sink was always not a good thing, but it's steadily become genuinely not fun for me to jump through more and more hoops while the game gets easier and easier for certain classes, stays the same for a small amount, and the rest of the ascendancies just remain getting shit on. Next league will again feature mobs with ever more damage to get through a champions defence, next patch will again see assassin dumped on, though its a shame he hasn't found a niche yet, like dead eye has.
I'm sure at some point they will realise that zana mods should be on sextants, and that map sustain only really being possible through enormous time spent trading for sextants, vaaling chiselling etc is absolutely pointless and adds nothing to the game. The knee jerk reaction to bestiary was dumb, it is a mechanic that can be completely ignored, yet apparently that's not enough, has to be gone, levelling just got harder for no good reason as casual players who want to spend about .2 seconds of thought per hour yet again ruin something for the rest.
Regarding balance, expect to see kinetic blast nerfed, nothing given in return, and wanders just disappear next league, somehow the only truly viable self cast spells will again be flameblast and essence drain. The best way to level a ranged/caster will still be to use sunder then swap at about level 80 when you have some gear, honestly expecting tectonic strike to be buffed to stupidity (this is a wild guess), discharge will receive a nerf by proxy in some form, everyone loves melee so 2 handers will be buffed. Underground sea, armoury, haunted mansion, burial chamber will be killed. In addition, elder rings will be removed. Sustaining t12 will be about the maximum that can be done.
This salt mine brought on by balance changes for the last 2 years, which I believe were solely from the focus of the duelist class, see vaal pact for more details.

And then you see Aila who has no problem getting a full stash tab of his shaped red tier maps in SSF. It's certainly possible to sustain maps, but getting there is just a path that shouldn't be as hard as it is in my eyes. But in that regard the game has become tremendously easier, it wasn't possible a few years ago at all.

It's easy as hell to sustain certain maps yes.
|
It's also Flashback atm, so more map drops too. I'm very interested to see what the next league is, if it doesn't give some extra map sustain (some unlucky) people will realize how terrible climbing maps will be. Bestiary actually wasn't very good in that regard too, I admit.

Is it straight up Sunder still just being too good? Or are alllllllllll the spells just that trash for leveling
I really hope they get a bit wild with some of these skill reworks, especially to alleviate caster problems. I'd love to play one. But I'll reserve judgment until they finally hit live. I didn't pay super close attention to lightning tendrils but it doesn't seem too popular even after changes sooooo

Magma orb is great, Lightning tendrils is a bit low on aoe otherwise good. haven't tried too many other spells recently except lightning warp which still sucks. Sunder costs like no mana though, which is a bit what for everything it gives. Though racing aside, sunder doesn't feel that good until you get multistrike and faster attacks.

Overall fairly unexciting
League mechanic needs way more detail explained, and tbh they probably haven't nailed down the details themselves.
New corruptions is nice, and needed in some cases, but very far from exciting from a new league perspective.
The return of warbands mod blue items seems awful. Especially without bestiary nobody wants to craft random blue items you find from scratch.
Most of the new uniques seemed somewhere between "meh" and "incredibad", except the zerphi's neck. Which seemed insane. The "upgrading uniques on the sacrifice altar" part needs explanation but seems like a bad version of prophecy fated uniques, which could serve the same purpose just as well.
Some of the new vaal skills seemed exciting, i guess, but not many. Blade vortex being capped at 10 stacks now is quite hilarious.
new trap skills are still "never ever playing a trap skill ty"

some preview videos: + Show Spoiler + + Show Spoiler +
seems like a fairly rewarding league, unless they make stuff like the map room / jewelry room really rare
I don't like the blurring effect during incursions, it kinda hurts my eyes.
that BV change =/ I miss the 50 stack days, loved that skill so much
Traps have pretty good clear tbh, the problem has always been the cooldown. weren't they buffing that somehow? It could be pretty good. They have a lot of the great damage scaling of mines without the same clunkiness while clearing. Though they can't match up to detonate mines totem DPS.
|
New BV now has 35% more damage and 35% increased hit rate per blade and 10% inc critical compared to 30% more damage and 10% increased hit rate like currently. Damage should be comparable but you will much easier keep it at max damage.
|
Changes to Vaal skill gems providing the base skill are nice - much more likely to use things outside of Vaal Grace/Haste/Discipline/etc. Timer-based thing for incursions might be rough on my potato PC; had a bunch of freezes during flashback when multiple mods were interacting and things got a bit hectic, and back during Abyss when I was running rotas I managed to complete 1 in every 6 Toras due to people completing the mission while I was still loading in :/
