Thinking of something like this. Basic plan is to farm up a tabula by hook or by crook, then a windripper, then a kaoms heart. Tornado shot from lvl 38 up (or maybe frostblades till 60, idk). Should give me approximately 7k life and plenty of evasion so I'm not super worried about defenses. Levelling 1-70 is going to be a nightmare though most likely. Still, if I go bow the whole way, shrapnel shot -> rain of arrows + siege ballista is quite forgiving on gear as a general rule.
I'm thinking of something similar, except I would use the characcter to mf so would probably take nulification and cloth and chain to make resist capping in mf gear easier, and would use qotf. Probably going to go dead eye, guessing either TS or LA? not sure which one would benefit more from the free chain + extra projectiles.

The issue with Hege's is that if it becomes popular it's instantly 10ex+ because it's so damn rare. - A str class being good with crit means it might very well be popular again.

Two. Champion is amazing for crit builds too, in fact definitely more damage (if not using Abyssus, which is prolly only doable with Jugg).
post AoE nerf I don't think sweep can keep up, but I'll admit I haven't played it since the nerf. It's just whenever I think of using it, Sunder, EQ, or cyclone just seem way better mechanically. now you have tectonic strike in the mix too
cyclone especially is usually the option over sweep, because afaik the damage potential is way better even if sweep might have more raw radius. and you can move and attack, you'll end up covering more ground

I've always liked Sweep mechanically. It's one of the laziest skills, you only right click once and everything around you dies. It's definitely worse than in glory AoE days, but it still works decently. See for example.
a couple leagues ago i played sweep. problem was that when i switched to static strike and ice crash it was better... can't imagine that it hasn't fallen back even more due to power creep. that said, it was a very satisfying skill to play.
Honest question what's the difference between that and Cleave? And/or Reave too, other than Reave's aoe stacks and the Vaal Reave interaction. I've seen Cleave builds that look almost identical to that. There seem to be so many abilities in this game that are just degenerate these days, or got outclassed over time by newer counterparts. Like GGG trying to get their ideas right, instead of buffing the old ones lol.

Reave and Cleave are just in one direction.
I'll give it that Reave (with 8 stacks) is more AoE and prolly better but it's 1h only. Cyclone is definitely a strong contender and feels nice to play too, and with the right build it might clear faster. Alk is playing better (regarding leap slam) and has more attack speed, so it's not really compareable :D

Ah. With multistrike and high enough attack speed Cleave pretty much looks 360 degrees lol.
I thought about doing Reave in the new league if I wasn't going to try the uberlab thing. It seems pretty good since 3.1. But I'll probably just make a bunch of cash in the lab and do something stupid after a few weeks.
Cleave looks 360 degree because of multistrike, and yes it's very good too. Sweep definitely could use some buff (probably both in dmg and in area), but it's very playable.
You can farm uber lab with Reave (preferably Jugg I guess) too. Being able to use a stat stick off hand makes Reave really strong.

Yeah I was just gonna do Sunder or BF and be boring but I guess you're right. Two birds with one stone. I hadn't thought about statstick offhands because for some reason I was associating that with Abyss league, but the elder/shaper stuff is going to be the same as 3.1 (presumably), it's the Abyss uniques that will get rarer. Mmmmmmmm.
I mean I could statstick with sunder too but I don't like playing sunder lol, just for leveling. This sounds like a better idea.
Patch notes when so I can start going ham in PoB with the new ascendancy stuff pls

right now I'm pretty set on RF but no idea what class to play. Jugg is brain dead, but Trickster wiill have really sick damage..
Jugg now has 5% in AoE per 1 EC, so Cyclone should work well. Without corruptions and gear with +1 EC you are already at 35% inc which is very close to Slayer.
Would the fire->phys incoming damage conversion from formless inferno and an elder chest make those items worth going for, for a chieftain? up to 33% phys taken as fire, seems good on top of? before? a few endurance charges and purity of fire.

You don't need purity of fire to make phys taken as fire very beneficial Although it does get much better the more you have
I didnt get the full 15 shaper memory fragments, did you have to kill elders in red for it? If so getting Elder Orb (upgrade to T16) will be difficult. good for bosskilers and people who fill most of the red maps
You are now twice as likely to obtain maps you have not yet completed on the Atlas as maps you have. This is intended to help players who choose to play solo complete their Atlas.

wooho liking this!
Thank god, I was trying to SSF complete as much of the atlas as I could and it was a horrid chore.
Basically no skill gem changes are a bit disappointing. Harness the void already nerfed, but justified!
Harness the Void: Grants your hits a 25% chance to gain 25% of Non-Chaos Damage as Extra Chaos Damage, 15% chance to gain 50% of Non-Chaos Damage as Extra Chaos Damage and 5% chance to gain 100% of Non-Chaos Damage as Extra Chaos Damage.
