So now I am thinking about Ngamahu Cyclone Chieftain as league starter (due to only needing the Axe to reach end game), but I don't know how best to level (and farm with) this one until I can acquire that Axe.
Any suggestions? Random High phy dps weapon and Molten Strike or something?

Or Sunder... tbh many skills work just fine, leveling melee chars is pretty fast.

I only leveled with melee characters twice recently, both were twinks. I have 0 experience leveling it as a first character and getting it setup to farm a bit before I can afford the build I am going for.

So Sunder and spend first C I find to buy a high Phy one handed or two handed weapon?

Hmm I guess if life mod is trashed for all non-life builds, flat dmg trash for all non-attack builds, elemental dmg with attk trash for all non-attack elemental builds, armor trash for eva builds, then I guess mana& regen are trashed for non-MoM builds.

Like come on it's less niche than minion mod and no one says those are trashed. It just for a semi-niche defense mechanism.

Sunder characters are quite cheap, which is why so many people choose them as starters.
One handers are the better choice (axe or mace) and a stat stick (something with attack speed - you will see this in all guides as axes have low AS inherently). Even with Blood rage, two handers feel clunky, especially in the beginning because you will have little AS.
While leveling, just do physical damage recipe if you are unlucky with drops. 4 link sunder easily takes you to maps. One totem and the range of the skill means you're pretty safe most of the times.
Can easily transition later into two handers and cyclone.
No need to buy weapons, you will either find better, get one from guild stash or easily craft something decent.

How bad will Hierophant pizza totems be? I don't remember how bad they are now and I'm too lazy to work it out when I'm sure half the people here know off the top of their head.

I think you'll have cast speed issues if you try hierophant pizza totems. having 3 totems for free doesn't help so much if it still takes like 10 seconds before each totem actually does damage.

Hierophant pizza totems will be playable tho, unascended pizza totems is prolly playable even, but whether or not its optimal is hard to tell without seeing the inquisitor and elementalist reworks.

Flameblast Totems is very good, very close to T1 leveling skill. The only change from it's glory days is the ignite / double dip changes, which greatly hamper its mapping, but for leveling its still pretty much as good as before.

@nukem1 - regarding stat sticks, the attack speed on them does not matter when you are using sunder. it only uses the main hand to deal damage, so you want attack speed on that. stat sticks are usually stuff like tempestuous steel, prismatic eclipse, or shaper sticks, things that give global damage

Hmm people are going apeshit over that new jewel but it's literally at best like a 10-12% life jewel with big downside and thats only in 3 places. I'm not a fan.

Yeah it looks, like, okay in a few places but by no means impressive. The left and bottom Scion sockets seem pretty decent if you're taking both the life wheel and some other sockets (can get 10% life plus some crit multi, AoE, regen, resists, 1% block, etc., depending on which other nodes you fill out).

I'm also pretty sure stuff that's done by integer percentages (such as life%, block% etc) will suffer from round-down problems (5 * .5 = 2.5, round down = 2). Keep in mind jewels that affect nodes on the tree directly affect those nodes, so a 1% block node is going to be utterly unchanged, even if there are 2 side by side they don't suddenly add together to round better.

In which case scion life wheel nodes would go from 5->7%, although if you had two jewels they'd nicely go from 5->10% for the ones hit twice.

Yep, that's why I said 10% life and 1% block instead of 12.5% life and 2% block.

*edit* In those slots in particular, it looks like using two of them might be decent, and that would fix your rounding problems (since you'd hit 100% increased effect of the nodes where the radii overlap). If your start looks like this:

...then each jewel would be providing:
  • 11.5% increased + 5 flat life
  • 2% block chance
  • 9% cold and fire res

...with Shaper being the only notable you're missing out on. That seems competitive with a rare jewel for some builds, though not OP by any means.

The jewel could be good for some niche builds that I don't quite see atm. Maybe for stat stacking builds? Also obviously for the 12?% life if it's cheap. With more currency 7% life + adds jewels are just better.

Yeah I wasn't trying to say ur numbers are wrong.

Worth noting that this disables the Hired Killer and True Strike life/crit notables that are pretty good for the builds that it would be best suited for (since if you double-jewelled up the scion life wheel it makes the scion start nodes quite useable and it makes the scion crit multi nodes 30% multi each for the first two
