For league starter I am planning to do a Scion (raider/slayer) non-crit Cycloner with Frostbreath in main hand and Dydus in offhand.
The most expensive item in the build should be a 6L Bronn's Lithe and it should still do nice damage (up to 400 000 to map bosses) and have 6000+ life with almost 50% dodge and spell dodge. That is unless Ascendant gets some major changes that no longer make this possible. In that case, this should work as a Raider as well. More dps with raider but worse leech.

Depending on if something major changes that makes me not do it, I'm thinking my league starter will be windripper and get quantity gear to mf burial chambers or whatever is easiest and use that to farm while deciding what build to make.

The es wander I made this league was ridiculous, too bad it was too late for me to care so I only used it to finish achievements. Had sbout 9k es and 2 million barrage dps. Maybe if wanders don't get nerfed and nothing more interesting comes out I'll do that again but this time buy the max es and es on hit watchers eye, assuming it's still 60 ex or so and doesn't go into the headhunter price territory.

I don't have an idea for good expensive build after the starter one. I will probably keep a lookout on what people make with new Ascendancy or skills. I would like to try that new Shield Throw skill if someone makes a build guide for one that can do end game content and it is tanky enough and not dependent on using 4 offensive flasks. I don't like builds that need more than 2 offensive flasks.

hard to say what i'd want to play, would need to see what the other ascendancies will look like. both assassin and hiero look quite strong.

thinking siege ballista hiero with crown of eyes as a random idea.

I had planned on doing an uberlab starter this league because it's something I haven't done yet. I think I still am planning on it, but I have no idea what the build will look like anymore with the ascendancy changes. Probably so many new options. Exciting times.

Pathfinder and Jugg are probably the most relevant classes to know about before planning an uber lab character. Who knows when those will be revealed. I'm also super interested to see where they go with necromancer.

It's also interesting to hear their perspective on ascendancy classes going forward:
For some of the classes we have ideas for further directions to take them that will result in larger revamps than you have seen here. This is an iterative process that will occur over several releases.


I really miss when we got significant tree changes every patch or two, so I'm hoping that this approach to subclass changes will feel like the tree changes of years past.

yeah, trickster always felt like its bonuses were too passive. i'd favor something with a more active playstyle that isn't mashing 12345 like flaskfinder was.

I just want trickster's 250 ES to not be hidden behind a nearly blank notable. Most of the rest of trickster was interesting, powerful and flavorful (if not quite on the level of the other classes at times) but it was so hard to justify taking the most definitive notable because it cost too many points to take the other interesting nodes.

Like patient reaper, swift killer, walk the aether and even weave the arcane are interesting, unique nodes with good power. However, you really don't want walk the aether and weave the arcane together, but you don't have much choice since ghost dance is such a ridiculous blank.

Well uh, pathfinder is out and its almost unchanged. Passive flask charge generation is tripled to 3 per 3 seconds (not 1 per second since I believe the trigger that adds the flask charges already interferes with certain server actions), and the reduced elemental damage taken during flask effect got knocked down from 8% to 6%. Which is bigger than people think since it stacked very positively with things like fortify and other "reduced damage taken" sources, but still not exactly crippling.

Honestly it feels like you can almost reach 100% utility flask uptime without even doing anything now considering how much "reduced flask charges used", "increased flask charges gained" and "increased flask effect duration" is available to pathfinder, but that hardly seems relevant actually.

Unstunnable + cant miss without any drawbacks? The damage might not be as high but those certainly seem like nice nodes to have.

Honestly I just want to abuse this adrenaline stuff via coruscating elixir shenanigans or similar. It's like 50 rage stacks for marauder but without the insane degen downside.

Do you even need to use coruscating elixir? When I'm playing life builds, I usually hit low life once every 20 seconds just from getting hit by enemies. That's why I have an instant life flask.

It's pretty hard to imagine naturally hitting low life literally 3 times a minute and not dying incredibly often.

The blood magic + spell totem + aura skill suggestion was also a good one.

Maybe I'm overestimating how often it happens, or maybe those times where I go "oh shit" and pop flasks aren't actually getting as low as 30%. I'll have to, like, record my gameplay or something and see how often it actually happens if I decide to try a Champion.

The Taunt/cannot evade + Fortify lines seems really strong for a bow char. Not sure if it can beats out Slayer but we'll see.

I agree. Champion seems to say: "Calling all archers, that cool melee stuff that you can't get? Now you have it all."
Can't wear lycosidae? No problem. Can't get fortify with a melee movement skill? No problem. If taunt immunity for the big bads is being changed, I think I will like champion a lot.

Not to mention a little extra bonus synergy with Perseverance belt.

The intimidate when hitting full life enemies has some party anti-synergy though.

e: Might also be good for dual wield crit builds too. Hits cannot be evaded is really, really good.
