There's been so much theorying the last couple months I can't really seem to come up with anything especially creative that I haven't already seen on reddit. It's egtting closer and closer to beta time.. nothing in the patch notes changed my choice of CA.. so it looks like that will be it. Runner up was elemental spectral throw but I always felt like spectral throw was overrated in regards to how fast it can move through content.

Have you guys pinned down what you will be playing?

I am 99% sure I am playing Vortex MoM Berserker. The build you guys helped me make has awesome survivability and I always liked "melee" range spells. Nothing in patch notes killed the build. But I am super glad I didn't stay with RF totems seeing how they nerfed totem life by 45% :D

For my team character I am still doing Mirror/Blink Arrow Necro, even with Necro nerfs it should be good, my damage dropped only by 20% inc (not less) so not much of a difference. And I now have a gem slot for desecrate so to upkeep 75% block chance even in boss fights.

Just some notes that stood out to me that I haven't seen mentioned yet:

Strong items that got buffed:
Ming's Heart: Reduced Life and Energy Shield now has a range of 5-10%.

Lioneye's Glare: Now grants Far Shot.


Wasn't there a reverse knockback build with this that someone showed?
The Chieftain's Tukohama, War's Herald skill now grants Totems Reflect 15% of their maximum Life as Fire Damage to nearby Enemies when Hit (up from 8%).


HOLY SHIT THOSE ZANA MODS ARE BEAUTIFUL:

Zana League Mods Available During 3.0.0:

Level 2: Onslaught (costs 2 Chaos Orbs): Monsters have 20% increased attack and cast speed, 20% increased quantity of items found.
Level 3: Bloodlines (costs 3 Chaos Orbs): Magic monster packs each have a Bloodlines mod, 25% more Magic monsters, 20% increased quantity of items found.
Level 4: Beyond (costs 3 Chaos Orbs): Slaying enemies close together can attract monsters from Beyond, 20% increased quantity of items found.
Level 5: Ambush (costs 4 Chaos Orbs): Areas contain 3 extra Strongboxes.
Level 6: Perandus (costs 4 Chaos Orbs): Areas contain 3 extra Perandus chests, and there's a chance for Cadiro Perandus to appear.
Level 7: Nemesis (costs 5 Chaos Orbs): Rare monsters each have a Nemesis mod, 50% more Rare monsters, 20% increased quantity of items found.
Level 8: Breach (costs 6 Chaos Orbs): Areas contain 2 extra Breaches.



I don't think there is anything massive in these notes compared to beta, is there? SRS will still be fine, it got harder to roll attack based items. RF totems got rekt, RIP Milkyslice.

...they're making us finish 10 acts before maps I guess. There's quite a bit of potential of getting absolutely destroyed by that in HC. Is this where we all watch streams while levelling?

e: Shaper in HC got quite a bit harder.
The Shaper now prevents players from opening portals while fighting him. Zana has 50% more life during the Shaper encounter. The grace period when re-entering the Shaper encounter mid-fight has been reduced to 3 seconds.

My standard character: Assassin Mjolner Shock nova + Cyclone cast on crit and another Shock Nova character got buffed in 3.0 (well except the Assassin nerf :D) . And not only because cyclone is better now. Now my Shock Nova has a better chance to Shock compared to before

Yea I used Ming's Heart with my Bladefall poison trap Saboteur I played in Essence league. To bad poison version was killed, this ring is of no use now to that character

I'm going berserker MOM Freezing Pulse, by my calcs it should be extremely tanky with fast clear. Should be able to hit 8.7k ehp on total budget gear with ~350k dps on shaper, scaling to 10.4k ehp and nearly 900k on decent midtier gear.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

question: at higher tier, let's say 13+, is it worth putting on ambush for 4c from a profit perspective?

I dont think boxes are profitable compared to other zana mods, especially since iirc Cartographer doesn't spawn in high maps anymore.

Breach at lvl 8 is kinda stupid, that ruins it for me.
Otherwise decent zana mods, albeit a bit boring again.

In maps that drop e.g. Steel Rings for sure unless something got changed.

Also I'm finally fucking settled on a build. It shall be a most Alurring plan with a slight sprinkle of more buttons.

I think they need to take a look at how the sextant works and make a similar system like that from zana for permanent league stones - you can unlock more as you go up, and the then have like leaguestone sextants or something to give the equivalent of magic effects for a few maps.

Could be interesting, cause atm zana is super boring.

Random discovery I found while theorycrafting: Champion gets to similar damage levels as Berserker as long as you damage things with hits. The reason for this is that First to Strike, Last to Fall gives you permanant intimidation against Enemies on full life (hence will work on most bosses) and Worthy Foe makes enemies you taunt take 20% increased damage.

In practice, that's a 30% more multi on all your damage that gets applied after everything is said and done (compared to Berserker which acts as another 'more' multiplier in your skillgems). Add the 75% generic increased from the nodes combined if you ignore his fortify path et et voilà: You're at Berserker levels of damage without taking more yourself.

It's most likely not worth it for e.g. spellcasters (you lose leech) or melee classes (imo Slayer still beats this) but maybe someone finds this useful for something niche.

Yes except Berserkers can get a nice damage boost from Rally Cry that also heals them. Also attack speed bonuses
And move speed bonuses when out of combat.

If champion's damage reliably would be the same I'd prefer it by far over the things you mentioned from Berserker, except for casters. Permanent fortify instead of 10% extra dmg taken is quite nice, you sometimes forget to shield charge / leap slam for it.

Berserker dmg is comparable with other ascendancies roughly.
What makes it broken is the vaal pact leech combo which ofc only caster can reap full benefits. Most attack builds I prefer to take other Ascendancies, which is super thematically funny to me

The issue here is endgame boss taunt immunity

however one should note that some of the top end bosses cannot be taunted

The Guardians of the Void can no longer be permanently taunted. They can only be taunted every so often.
