Tnx for that.
So I see no secondary damage for ignite.
I can assume base ignite damage is then same as base spell damage?! Anyone knows how exactly the new ignite rules work?
ignite damage is 40% of the base hit damage then scaled by whatever scales burning damage. It shows in the offense tab of your character screen for each skill, like chance to hit or crit chance do.
After running the numbers a bit, I think this nerf killed Detonate Dead. Unlike other skills it is not reliable enough to do damage if you don't ignite and those ignites are not good enough. Only way I see it working is Assassin and focus on crit hits (in combinations with new keystone) but that takes more passive points than going Elementalist and putting some into fire and burning damage. And you need those passive points for ES passives.
Once 3.0 hits and we get free respec, I will respec my high level Elementalist DD character to test if it is still playable but I expect it will not be.
The next issue is that DD doesn't have the spell tag, making the available crit nodes rather few. Also I think it didn't get any buffs when the AOE changes hit. My guess is that it's pretty dead now.
Ufffff, I forgot about that. I put points into any and all spell crit nodes on the tree in my Path of Building and was wondering why only 45% crit (without equipment) :D OK, that will free up some points but not enough to make a difference. DD worked well with double dipping and just ignoring critical this. Double dipping made just putting points into fire or elemental damage work. Even with the AoE nerf I linked Inc Aoe support and felt my damage was good enough and my AoE worked well (with Elementalist prolif). But now that Inc AoE support is one wasted slot I need for more damage and using Assassin also means you need Prolif support (although that is just instead of Chance of Ignite support that you had to use before).

We should probably get a mod to update the thread message.
Add the usual "or post your character name in this thread and ask for an invite" please, I'm not planning on being terribly active during beta until more is released but I'll check here frequently. <3
I'm actually curious if some of the new bosses will end up killing parties as we know them since doing them with multiple people seems suicidal as fuck. At least storywise a lot of cool shit happened and quite a few spots make sense now that previously didn't. I love the expansion so far overall.

if this stuff doesnt get nerfed going to be lots of bottle necks for people
I hope it does not. Game needs to again be challenging and fun during story parts and not only at yellow and red maps.
Seems incredibly unlikely it will remain that difficult. Pretty much everything that GGG has released in the past two years has been nerfed after release because it was too hard...
I'm gonna go on a limb and say average/casual players freaking love Lab tho. Its absolutely different from any other content in the game, having traps like a puzzle is refreshing. Not to mention the chests at the end and all the rewards, it feels like you accomplish something.
Its more the hardcore people who have done hundreds of runs from all the new chars and have to redo lab all the time that hate it.
Not gonna play/watch beta but from what i've heard looks like PoE is doing an awesome job with new bosses and acts. Difficulty in the old game was absolutely alright, its only not challenging when you go in with planned build and shitton of leveling gear/experience really.
Casuals hate lab, serious players love farming it.
Casuals hate how you have to commit to a long run (they are slow), hate how you can't die, hate how if you fuck up an early fight the boss is hard later, hate traps in general, hate trying to find trials in maps for uber, etc.
Sure, lots of serious players dislike lab. But lots of them also run lab a bunch because it can be an interesting set of content. It's just really awkward to force people through it.
Seriously though, lab's the kind of thing where the more you've done it, the more you appreciate it. Once you know all the trap gauntlets by heart as well as each izaro buff and combo and all that shit, it's easy and the worst it can be is boring. For noobs it's far worse than boring, it's outright awful.
Hmm i dont actually rate casuals into the category that bothers with uberlab at all except for being carried here. They do merc lab at most, they also dont know about fucking up boss and making it harder for later stages, at least the "casual" buddies of mine that played PoE a little. Gotta remember tho that are people that also enjoy starcraft some, so i guess they already had the "i hate easy shit" mentality already ^^.
is this game worth another try? i played some 30-50hours some years ago. Tried D3 last months and played another 100h now I am ready to look again I think. Where should I start? thanks

Try by waiting for 3.0 release and then play that. Or try to get a beta key and play that. I don't think it is worth learning the current version of the game when 3.0 will be changing it so much.
if experienced players are saying the new stuff is actually challenging, then its gonna probably gonna be a bit off putting to new/ casual players i imagine.

That's what beta is for though, to make sure it's at a level where new players can manage. By the time act 8 is out they'll have made sure enough newer players have beta access

Most of it is challenging in a really, really good way. Think Vaal/Dominus/Piety challenging and not Kaom/Daresso/Malachai "challenging".
Most of the new bosses are straight up good, well-balanced design. Their visuals are clear, mechanics make (mostly) sense and you can out-skill them instead of having a chaotic mess that you need to outgear to be safe. In the interest of keeping this thread reasonably spoiler-free Mr. Tsunami is boring as hell/gearchecky (and will be a terrible mess in parties) and Smelter Demon / Ceaseless Discharge reloaded does seem a bit too quick on slams and currently has inconsistent damage & adds that are slightly overtuned - as of now he'll probably be the major cockblock for most people and will need a bit of practice if he stays in his current form. And he'll also be a huge pain in the ass for parties.
The other two bosses are straight up amazing, probably the best design I've seen from GGG overall, period.
Minibosses (mandatory smaller ones, I'd count Brutus/Piety in this category) were overall reasonable/interesting but nothing crazy.
Optional bosses (Dweller for example) gave me the most trouble out of everything, I'll overlevel some of those in HC for sure. They felt like pretty bad ideas with 50% res or less.
