I don't love Heirophant for totem builds, seems..... not good? Elementalist seems better in almost every way.
Check here for the skill tree planner, includes the Scion Ascendancy classes.
Idea of Hierophant is that it allows totems and a self-cast skill. So if your damage is reasonable enough to AoE clear with 90% / or 2x 80% dmg totems you can get 3x 70% dmg totems plus your self cast skill for singletarget. So it opens up shit like combining RF totems (incl 20% AoE if 4L) with Flame Surge or Spark Totems with Vaal Storm Call.
I havn't played POE in quite awhile and was if anyone could fill me in on trapper builds for the new league coming up.
Last time I played a trapper it was all about crit fire trap/conc effect/ele prolif, but since then I believe ele prolif has been changed substantially and this isnt the build anymore.
So what do people do for trappers these days? I saw there was a new ice trap gem looks cool but how do you build around it/does it do enough damage without any dot effects to kill stuff efficiently? I also read poison traps were a thing good/bad/expensive?
tl;dr whats the best trapper setup for the new league?

Ele Prolif was nerfed with 20% less damage and an abysmal 12 base radius. Trapper IMO heavily depends on whether you want to play HC or SC. In HC I struggle massively acquiring enough life nodes to feel comfortable since almost all the interesting stuff is on the right side of the tree (you could go hybrid but that is also super sketchy in HC imo).
I think Elemental Equilibrium tri ele traper is certainly very viable. I'd probably use Arc Trap (decent shock chance), fire trap and the new ice trap. You could also go crit for even more damage, but that'd probably spread you very thin in terms of points.
Poison Trap was/is using Bino's kitchen knife for poison proliferation. I'd expect this to get nerfed heavily in the upcoming expansion.
I'm still quite undecided which build I wanna play. Might even play Poison Ballista (poison only because it would be needed for getting charges with Southbound), I played that once and I liked it quite a bit. After a few tries I thought this Assassin tree is looking good: + Show Spoiler +
I'm skipping many great crit nodes for bows, but honestly I felt like getting the accuracy from the Ranger nodes will net more crit chance since I already should have a huge crit chance from the 7 power charges + Assassin. Frenzy charge + mana would come from Split Arrow + CoH + Poacher's Mark (or if no curse in party / curse immune, just mana pot for mana I guess). Only problem is the power charge generation... I think Unstable Infusion doesn't work at all for totems and idk if Split Arrow would proc it often enough. I'd probably need to use something like Blade Vortex + PCoC... bah.

labrynth traps will do reduced damage to minions.
yeah, and defenses don't matter either, since traps do percental damage and armour/eva doesn't matter. though life regen probably helps.
So, instead of using procurement I can set stuff for sale along with buyouts through the game itself? But still use poe.trade to search for said items. I think i have like 15 premium tabs or something, should be fine with that part.

I thought having 8 was enough
Most of those I bought on sale and never used, but ^_^ More stash space makes the game far more enjoyable. Gotta hoard all those items so you can sell them to people and make boatloads of exalts.

Man how do you organize things? Color coding and renaming tabs is invaluable for me. I'm really considering just upgrading my free tabs to premium because I find them worthless without being able to rename it.

Procurement has search features. You just throw things in tabs and then search em up when people buy em.
I have been using the same numbers my three years playing for currency, maps, links, etc etc so it is muscle memory.
