There is one attempt at a guide on youtube, but that's just the introduction to the interface (uploader promised more videos, but video is like 6 months old). I'm stuck. ![]() It's not like there's only one video on youtube on the subject. I found a ton. There's one guy there who does decent videos, even though he's the most long winded person with the most annoying voice ever so you have to buckle down and turn up your patience. Other than that almost everything has information if you just hover your mouse over it. Read through the thread to get some more tips. Most basic tip I can give you is to play as England and play around with your navy. Don't declare war on anyone and just try to get the hang of how to play it. It's gonna take a while so don't give up. It's really fun once you get the hang of it.

Even if you lose your provinces in France you are absolutely safe in the UK because your Navy is so huge that noone should be able to give you serious trouble and most countrys wont even declare war on you if you are in no alliance

I just remember I got bored quickly because the AI sucked and winning became too easy.

I just remember I got bored quickly because the AI sucked and winning became too easy. That would depend on how good you are I guess. I know I tried to play as a small country and I got raped on very easy with low aggression AI from the get go. Burgundy declared war. They moved in one stack of units and I died. They demanded annexation. Actually I died before that because I moved a slider, and had a 6 stack nationalist revolt while my army was like 5 and it got crushed. Once again: very easy and low aggression AI. I think you can find yourself a challenge. Maybe not playing a major nation, but I dare you play on hardest as say.. some minor native American nation and try to conquere the world ![]()

I don't get to having any specific problems, because frankly I surrender before I even get started. I used to be able to pick up everything from just playing (worked for the last 20 years even with titles like Hoi) but I guess I have become too much of an perfectionist for trial and, ouch, error. I've started reading the wiki, it's gruesome work but I might be able to pull through, wish me luck ![]()

The thing is I don't like having a hard time just because I get some insane disadvantages compared to the AI. But without it single player just isn't that much fun anymore after you are in possession of a certain number of provinces. I always envied people who played multiplayer, but it takes soo much time. But I remember some nice After Action Reports were produced, like e.g. this AAR, which I still have in my bookmarks after all those years ^_^ Too bad many pictures are gone by now.

![]() I'm wondering, was there another expansion after divine winds? I thought chronicles just adds divine winds to the complete edition basically.

I feel as if Vicky 2 > HoI 3 > EU3 in terms of difficulty. EU3 is a great start into paradox titles imho.

I loved it, i bought eu3 complete a while back, was great fun, but then I discovered something even more awesome: EU3 Magna Mundi, an extensive and huge mode for people who feel eu3 is 2 easy at all levels (which it is after u got how it works). E.g. I conquered central europe (france, germany, italy, austria and a bit toward the east) at around 1650 with switzerland (build up economy, build up an army, get enough infamy so that everyone hates you and declares war, have fun! ![]() I'm wondering, was there another expansion after divine winds? Poland is poor so its hard to get tech too.. difficult...i think i should have helped luthenia a bit more at the start from the horde lol.. uhm. helping lithuania is a must at the start so maybe you could concede defeat and rebuild your army. Be aware that if your prestige gets too low, lithuania will elect their leader and you lose your personal union.

Enter the Achievement folder, enter the achievement.txt and delete all the text, save, next time you save a game it should be a comfortable 5-20mb. This will however make you unable to get achievements on their forums or whatever they're for but for people like me who couldn't play the game that's a small tradeoff.

Oooh, if this works, I will be so very thankful to you. I bought EU III Chronicles on Steam (some damned sale got me >_<) so I'll probably have to wait until the beta patch that has been advertised here gets released properly.

You can just turn of automatic update on steam and then just download the patch..

Hmmh, I'll first try Krehlmar's suggestion, but if it doesn't, I'll try and disable the autoupdate and install it manually. I was skeptical whether one could do so seeing as Steam installs the games as "Steam apps" in rather queer file formats. Anyways, many thanks to you, too.

I mean really balls? I can take losing entire armies to stupid reasons... But Sea battles is just about numbers... And wham from nowhere a huge fleet comes and kills your 20 Carracks (or whatever the biggest ship is called) that cost 1000 gold to build.
