i can't believe how fucking bad i am at this game... i feel like everyone is one level above me and i don't have any clue where i should start working on, i've redone the challenges a couple of times and launched the training modus to get used to the moves and some simple combos, but i still get absolutely demolished D:
did you just start playing?
find out what you're losing to. random pokes? throws? doing max damage when you punish? getting punished easily?
personally when i pick up a new character and take them online i hover around 30% win for a while before i "figure it out" and just start streaking i'm also old (27) compared to all the young folk who play this game so i pick up things a lot slower, and unlike all the older people who still play this game, i was never legendary back then so it doesn't matter.
yes, i just bought the game today and it's pretty much the first fighting game i'm playing (except for some rounds of tekken at random occasions)... i have no idea what i'm losing to, i just lose :D
i think my main problem is that i just don't land any moves in an actual match, my brain just stops working and i start mashing buttons like an idiot... anyway, i won't give up that easily 3-100 stats, I'M COMING!
If you don't mind sharing, which character(s) are you starting out with?

Hehe, yeah Ibuki isn't really a beginner friendly character imo . On the other hand, she's VERY annoying to play against XD. Edit: Although many people would disagree with me, I wouldn't say you should drop her just because she's not a beginner friendly character. I would suggest you stick with her if you really enjoy using her over other chars (after all, that's the reason you're playing the game )
Obviously a good start would be to stop mashing buttons as you say XD. I can't say for sure where you can go with your play after that though. Are you having trouble blocking? Are you being punished for using unsafe moves? Are you getting thrown a lot? Basically the same question as kainzero. Identify what it is that hurts you the most and then find out how to stop it (speaking in terms of general basics, not match-up specific stuff).
The best version to get it for is Xbox 360 no doubt. The most people play it there and it will always be the best. Problem is if you don't already own an xbox then its expensive to get it.
Plenty people play on PC right now, how long that lasts? We'll see but in my opinion there'll be people playing it for a long time.
Excalibur, put it up on youtube so we get to see you beat Arturo

If this is your first time with a fighting game I have some extreme advice for you.
Forget about challenge mode and training mode. Forget about using special moves or doing combos. In SC terms its like trying to do a 4 gate rush, even though you still have trouble getting your workers to mine.
The absolute BASICS of fighting games is spacing and poking. Without these you will never succeed. Combos are just execution. No point if you can do them 100% in training mode if you cant land that first hit on your opponent in a real match.
So what I suggest is to pick a character with good normals like Dictator(MBison), Zangief, Boxer(Balrog), or Dhalsim. Now limit yourself to up to 3 buttons, so you dont end up mashing random buttons without strategy.
Now play tons of matches against an opponent focusing on 1) Blocking your opponents attacks. and 2) Figure out where and when you should use a certain attack button.
For example one of my mains is Dictator. His strongest normal attack(most useful imo) is his standing roundhouse. Then I would just move around the match trying to get the feel for that roundhouse, like how far can I hit with it? If i get in that range what is my opponent likely to do? Can it beat the opponents attack?
Also on defense think about at what range will my opponent try to attack me? At what range is it safe to jump over a fireball? Is my reaction time good enough to block jumping attacks high and low attacks low? Am I blocking in the right direction for cross-ups? Do I recognize when my opponent is trying to throw and react accordingly?
Obviously with this strategy you will lose tons. However since you are playing with only a few attack buttons and no special moves or combos, you should feel less pressured about wins/losses, and be more focused on bettering yourself.
Another tidbit might be to watch older Street Fighter vids where there werent any combos and such to deal with.

How do you save your own replays? I thought you could only save if you got that special record thing
You go into Replay Channel -> Battle Log and it contains your 25 most recent games. From there you can select Save Replay and it will save locally. If you go to Replay Channel -> My Channel Advanced you can create a channel to share those replays with people who search your name.
For Zlasher's benefit though I also uploaded it to Youtube haha.

Ex_Z, your sak might be good but your attempts at subtle bragging are not !
hahaha. Hey I'm proud of it so what! Also I'm not particularly proud of the actual gameplay of the match, because Art made some pretty big mistakes of not blocking or not reacting properly, ironically as a result of my dropped combos. =)
