Something like up down left right QWEASD or something? Set it up that Q = left, W = up, E = right, Space = down, and 6-buttons as like 789456 on the numpad. Or maybe 0 on the numpad instead of Space for down. That way you can have your right hand positioned the same way as it would be for pressing buttons on an arcade stick, and spreading out your left hand is more efficient because you can press directional buttons faster when your fingers never have to travel (they can just rest on the keys).

). I have both tried the 360 controller and a cheap logitech one and the keyboard is by far the more accurate method. Like excalibur said, you can set it up so that you have left, down, right in a row and jump on space. I even use normal WASD + an additional UP on space, so jumping with W feels natural to me and I use the space one only for circle motions and the like where W feels awkward. For punches and kicks I use HUI and NJK cause feels natural. The only thing that is kinda awkward is focus attacks and throws, where I press 2 buttons with 1 finger but you could map that stuff to another key if you really need to.

Cause not everybody likes to shell out those 150€ for a game they dont know how long they will play. Cheap sticks seem to be ...well... cheap in quality and not worth it and a good stick is a pretty hefty investment. Those people always saying "then just buy another X" should sometimes consider that not everybody has the money to spend that easily. I will go with the option of building it myself, but the parts still set me back by a 50€. It's not nothing, I can understand why people dont want to spend it. Besides, some moves seem to be even faster with a keyboard than with a stick. EDIT: I am also one of the 1% who don't have any console

Yo, I use a custom PS2 compatible keyboard with a PS2 to usb converter for PS3 use, don't be dissin' the keystick. I've only met one other tournament player who used one and we played the same character in melty blood, it was kinda weird. But I learned to (really) play fighting games on GGPO, I had no stick so I learned keyboard, never looked back.

EDIT: I am also one of the 1% who don't have any console Personally I use my arcade stick for more then just fighting games, I use it for megaman 9 & 10 and various other games on emulator so I can feel like I'm playing it at an arcade since my town has zero arcades. You don't have to buy one brand new either you can use kajiji and craiglist to find a used stick for a decent price and if you really want to you can change the parts out on it if they're funky or you don't like them. 6 buttons will cost you like $15-20 (inc shipping) so its a pretty good deal. www.lizardlick.com for example Also anytime fighting games tournaments are going on they have sales and give aways and twitter contests so you can always just win a stick or get one for like 20-30% off if you're really wanting to get a new one.

Yous witched W and space. You want spacebar to be your jump.

Same here, I used to go to SVGL and just play on my PC, but I own a TE lol I use it to play emulator games as well, give it the old classic arcade feel, makes it more fun imo.
