Dhalsim has short range command versions of all of his normals if you hold Back. So in that trial's case, try B+HP xx Focus attack.

As mentioned above, try b.hp as well, but you need to press focus attack as soon as the normal attack hits, if it's supposed to combo. You're canceling the normal move into the focus attack.

Well, we saw how it turned out in the various games(playing with a TE). I just use a PS2 Controller for all the emulated games, ranging from NES over DS till Wii. Works perfectly fine and I have no trouble controlling my character ![]()

He seems a lot more Super Turbo-ish now. cr.lp x ___ hit confirm combos, double upkicks, slide as footsies, slide as antiair (well only if you stick out an air attack), annoying Air Slashers, etc. lk sobat lower body invincibility looks good, as do a lot of his normals. I guess he's like low mid tier now? Or not that good. He just doesn't do any damage and doesn't have an overhead. That kind of sounds like Rose tbh. Maybe I was just impressed by that one guy with 4000 PP using him.

It is pretty awesome, the only problem I have with it is that there are some tricky moves to pull off with it, like Fei Longs chicken wings that I can't combo with at all. ((Are there any tutorials for Fei Long? He is my favourite character, and the only thing I can find on youtube is Mago tearing everyone up with moves I didn't even knew were possible. RyuApprentice on youtube has several tutorial videos.

So would you recommend to abandon singleplayer, or does it help you to also get better against human players?

Lucumo, GodsGarden has been streaming for a while now I think. There are a few others that stream occasionally as well, though most just upload footage. There were a few hours of footage of the 2nd BP Yun players in Japan just doing online matches put on youtube/srk recently too if you're interested.

It was Kazunoko on GG, he plays arcade exclusively though and despite being "new" to online play, he owned everyone, only losing 3-or-so games. I'm not talking about the already existing ones, those don't stream that regularly anyway.

Decided to main Sakura and I'm enjoying playing her, I'd like to tell you guys the combo I learnt but I'm not sure for the proper acronyms for all the different things lol >_< I understand most of them apart from all the xx's, what do those mean? On that note would anybody be able to show me some sort of beginner's/starers guide to street fighter? I've been delving through guides but would love to find some compilation that I could read through. The stuff on eventhubs.com seem pretty good but I wouldn't mind some recommended ones ![]()

As much as I hate seeing the guy's ego fed, Sirlin's beginner ST guides on youtube are probably the best street fighter basics guides that I know of. The guide Air made for Ryu is pretty sick too + Show Spoiler + http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0cFs5mHQC4 when people are typing combos, "xx" denotes a cancel, whereas "," and "->" generally mean links or target combos. A cancel, of course, being when you go from a normal move to a special or super move during the normal's active frames. Old timers call em 2 in 1s, which makes a little more sense to the average person since you're inputting the special move while the normal move is still happening. cr.fp xx lk tatsu would be a cancel for sakura. A link is when you have to wait for something to fully recover before starting the next move. st.lp, cr.fp would be a link. I hate the new SRK site, and those forums are usually 5% good advice, 25% accurate but meaningless information, and 70% garbage players running their mouths as though no one can tell they're garbage. The basics you need to know is basically that the same way starcraft is 90% about macro/mechanics and the rest of matchup strategy only works or makes sense once youve got your mechanics down, fighters are no different. You need to be able to block, you need to be able to anti air, and you need to be able to punish. If you're playing sakura, cr.fp is your anti air. This forces people to earn their offense against you instead of letting them jump in on you for free combo / pressure. Learn one basic combo that you can reliably do (cr.mk xx sho or something similar) so that every time someone does something dumb in your face you can take their life bar for it. If you only punish a DP (20% damage) with a throw (10% damage), then they can do 2 terrible bad DPs for every one that hits and still be even with you. Blocking comes with time and is more about learning what different characters overheads look like. When you get knocked down, try to block instead of doing reversals. if you must do something on wakeup, backdash. Backdashes have short invulnerability on them, which makes them a safe getaway option. @Myrm, I'm not really sure how I feel about DeeJay. He's definitely not bad. His fireball game is respectable and he has ok reversals. He just still has the same problem of not as good or as many defensive options as guile, but not much better offense or pressure. Until he has something worth picking him for other than the trollface, I doubt you'll ever see too much of him. Some people just love to play matchups that no one's familiar with.

I've heard of stuff like plinking/double tapping and my idea of what they are is techniques that will improve your combo execution, though I'm not 100% sure of how they function. Is mastering those techniques essential to become a decent player? How big of a role do they play in a high-level match? I'm completely new to the SF4 series, but I've had experience playing quite a bit of 3rd strike, so I'm at least knowledgeable about general street fighter stuff. The biggest difference I see between sf3 and sf4 is that sf4 is a bit slower-paced and much more execution-heavy (hence why I want to improve my execution in this game before worrying about other things). Is this the right approach? If so, I'd appreciate some answers to my previous questions. If not, what should I focus on instead? Thanks!
