Hey guys! Our ESGN Fight Night will be starting 4 hours from this post! (21:30 CET)! |
I've provided an infographic with how the format is going to work!

Check it out at www.ESGNTV.com (or on Twitch.tv/ESGN_official)

Does this mean that the last challenger is guaranteed five thousand dollars, win or lose? Seems to me like luck is more profitable than skill in this case, unless you get picked early and are asian.

EDIT: Messed up the spoiler.

What do you mean?

Oh, does each player get a chance to run that whole gauntlet? If so that makes sense, disregard my previous statement

I hope Ryan Hart does well, I always enjoy watching good Sagat players.

Oh, so EACH player begins the gauntlet, and chooses in which ORDER they want to play the other 7 players, with the option to stop at any point and take the winnings.

That's really cool!

Wheel decides the first two players then wheel decides future foes for whoever wins the first match and it goes on like that.

We're aware of framerate; it's just something that is fixed when the new equipment comes (:

Oh shiot, I got here late, launched the stream and saw credits and panicked.
Seems like it's not over yet tho.

This was better than the HS and SC2 fight nights, very enjoyable!

I have a newfound respect for Mike Ross. As a relative newcomer to the fighting game scene all I know about him is from Excellent Adventures, I didn't think he was on a high enough level to compete with the best of the best.

This was one of the very best eSports tournaments ever because it was funny, there were mindgames, there was hype, and it wasn't awkward like the SC2 was. You should really let the girls wear something else... have a Cammy and Viper. This is something I think you could make as the premiere edition and then have Hearthstone and try out CS:GO next.

They're doing a rebroadcast, yeah. The framerate is pretty annoying and I thought Tasteless knew a lot more about SF4 than he apparently does since he plays it at cafeid all the time. I like the presentation of the show, the atmosphere is fun, of course Gootecks is great to have on there too, and overall it's really entertaining. I wish they did more than one set per episode though!

Me too. But holy cats, that was fun to watch! Thanks to Torte and the guys for putting it together!

I was watching the chat and there were definitely quite a few folks who were surprised to see Tasteless and also a few who were surprised at how he held his own. Who do you guys think will take it tomorrow between Champ and Xian?

Also thought it was funny how Tasteless said he wants to see Infiltration because he wants to see Koreans do well even in Street Fighter. Saw a lot as well of people saying, "We eSports now" or "That eSports money..." I did see one chat comment that said it made EVO look like it's in someone's basement.

I think they are trying a bit too hard to reproduce the play by play / analysis duo in the casters department. :/
Not sure if Tasteless play to it or is actually that ignorant about the game.

The games are good and the players are having fun tho, so it's really entertaining to watch.

I like the format for this show, but the commentary leaves a lot to be desired when compared to normal FGC commentary(Which obviously doesn't fit this "professional" type of venue.).

I think Tasteless knows more about the game than people give him credit for, but he's probably way overthinking what he's saying and ends up keeping it simple. He slowly started working in more "casual" terms like "bar" and "DP". You don't have time to explain much and drag it out in fighting games. I'm sure he could commentate an FGC event decently, but trying to explain everything to the newcomers is obviously going to come across as slow and annoying.

I dunno man, pronouncing Gen as "Jen" lost him some credibility with me =)

Agreed at not having time to explain much and drag it out - your average StarCraft game certainly isn't just 99 seconds. I think he's also trying to learn how to actually do Street Fighter commentary much the way Gootecks might take some time if he was dropped into the GOMeXP studio, so I don't hold that against him. On a humorous note, though, it was fun watching reactions on Twitch chat to him pronouncing Gen as "Jen".

I'll edit this post if this isn't an official VOD (just some guy I subscribe to for Fighting game VODs).

But I knew nothing about this event and was incredibly surprised and was like "IS THAT TASTELESS?" when I clicked on it. *insert "Lost his passion" joke here*
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88
