Living in Korea and playing in arcades, plus Gen being a very underrepresented character =)
Besides he corrected himself after a while anyway haha

Must admit I didn't have high expectations for the show, there's a reason a negative stigma surrounds word "esports" around the FGC. At the very least we should get some interesting matches and I can stomach production if I remember that the show is for a different demographic than myself. Altough I don't think it will bring many people to the FGC since it had less viewers than any major.
As for tasteless... He's a professional, so he shouldn't get the excuse "he's not used to commentating fighting games". I'm sure he could've run some test commentary with gootecks and practice it until both parties were satisfied. Perhaps they did it and he simply isn't cut for it. I have to admit I'm not very happy about the duo overall, I think UltraChen could do the same type of commentary in much better manner.
Of course I'm gonna watch it and probably be entertained, but like most people I hoped it would be a little less cheesy and less overproduced. But it's fine as it is and I'm glad ESGN decided to include SF4 in their programming the way they did, it could've went much, much worse.

Wow, a lot of comments! I'm really relieved to see you guys overall enjoyed the show!
The framerate is a problem unfortunately and purely a question of time as we wait for all of our equipment to come ): I'm very sorry.
Tasteless gets better as each episode goes. I don't think he's casting SFIV before and Gootecks does a great job balancing the duo!

There was literally no time for him to practice, we were on a very, very, very tight schedule.

We're filming Season 2 this weekend! Suggestions on players for future seasons (as well as casters, though I have some people in mind already) is really appreciated!
Season 2 is nearly locked-in, but yeah; thanks for the feedback guys!

Oh, goodness. Did you watch this together with James, UltraDavid? Would he be welcome to cast alongside you guys?

Season 2 is nearly locked-in, but yeah; thanks for the feedback guys! seriously quit it with the schoolgirl outfit shenanigans. also please please don't cut away from gameplay. there's really no dead time in a fighting game round, especially round starts. and this canned crowd thing i could do without too. happy to hear the frame rate issues are being addressed

Thanks! Stylistic things will be residually changed as things move forward. These tapings are already done, so we'll apply feedback for future shoots!

My definite pet peeve back from StarCraft last week as well as this. No fan track - get a crowd in there.
One more thing, UltraDavid - are you planning to ask Torte de Lini if you and James can cast? I think any fighting game fan would want to make sure that Fight Night is capable of preserving and amplifying hype, so you don't have to answer right now.

Season 2 is nearly locked-in, but yeah; thanks for the feedback guys! Pls bring in Latif! He brings a lot to the table imo. Best evo placement as non-asian in recent years, very flashy and hype playstyle, funny and being able to express it (fluent english), representing a severely underrepresented region of the FGC outside of USA/EU/Asia, he is extremely strong in long sets (raped everyone in money matches after evo 2013 for example and travels to japan to get long sets in against top players) and last but not least... he is my favorite player ^^
|
Well, yeah, if you can fly anyone you want, Latif would be cool. He doesn't get to play in many tournaments since his departure from the US. Not sure he can make this kind of travel with a full time job now tho.
But yeah, the girls are a bit out of place. I guess both of them are contracted for a period of time and will be here at every show. An idea for the Street Fighter fight night would be to make them cosplay as characters from the game. They did that during some of the capcom cup stuff ( everyone remember the Sakura cosplayer.. yeah that one ) and it worked well.

I'd rather just abolish the canned crowd track. Who cares if it was an empty studio, there are still reactions from the other players and plenty of background noise anyway from the game/casters. Obviously a crowd in the studio would be best, but "no crowd" vs "crowd cheer track" should definitely go to no crowd imo.
UltraDavid reminded me of something that bothered me more and more as well (since I thought it was just a crunch at first), but "cutting to a match after it's already in progress" is really rough. I understand the logic behind it from a production perspective or someone who's not familiar with the games, but for fighting games the screen should be glued to the game before you hear FIGHT! (and until after the K.O...)

Hoping for good matches tonight. I hate watching Xian play, because he always does the same thing and he always wins (also Gen is boring except for super) so go fchamp!

This will have 7 episodes right? How will you have the time to go through all the players, if say Xian loses to Alioune and Alioune never loses?
