i'd been watching the end of the original broadcast then caught the start of the replay, saw this, and pressed ctrl+f4 immediately I see where your coming from and would definitely prefer the show to not have slutty dressed women, but you have to consider that these women basically signed a contract that grants them money in exchange for getting sexually objectified. When a woman actively seeks out jobs where she gets money to get objectified its pretty hard for me to get upset about such objectification taking place.

More offended that they feel the need to have them on a show about Street Fighter at all.

Not blaming the women, blaming the shitty producers who put it in the show.
|
what if the ladies can punch and kick well? I'm pretty sure they were more dressed than any female character in SF. lols.
+ Show Spoiler +dont kill me guys, it's obviously a joke

It was way more awkward having random sexy schoolgirls around for HS than it is for SF. At least SF is a fighting game, and boxing/MMA always have sexy ring girls in between rounds, so you can see the connection.
But if you go that way, there's no reason not to have them cosplay or at least dress in random fighting apparel.
Aside from that, I really like the show so far. Tasteless still has some work to do, but the hype is there and the games have been great!

Maybe that's why I stopped caring about SC2 and esports in general. Trying to be something when it feels unnatural.
Just have guys on a couch playing the game and talking to each other. And commentators.

As I said, I dont like women that have nothing to contribute but ass and titties slapped onto all kinds of random stuff either, but ultradavid said specifically he quit watching this after hearing a cat call whistle. This suggests the level of objectification was the main offender and not the mere fact that the women were present cus then youd have to quit the show right about 1 min into the first episode (as someone in this thread pointed out, his gf apparantely did).

They do seem very out of place. I don't need to see scantily-clad girls to keep me interested in street fighter, and yeah the cat-call left a bad taste in my mouth. That sort of thing would be frowned upon here in Canada. And most other places too, I'd imagine. Pretty bad choice. I'm too fickle to pretend I won't watch the rest of it (I will because I love street fighter), but if I wasn't so into sf4 this would definitely be something that would make me stop watching

overall I'm glad someone's trying to add a little production and fun to fgc events, and new formats are always cool, but this is a little too SpikeTV for me

Just to balance out some of the other loud voices; as far as I am concerned, the girls don't add much value, but go well with the whole cheesy wheel-of-fortune setup and don't bother me at all. The matches have been good fun, but Tasteless' casting is...jarring.
It's okay to have a caster who's not very knowledgeable if he asks the co-caster questions to keep the conversation going and taking the naive point of view. Instead, he's just sort of pretending to be on top of things with generic fillers about momentum and comeback and turnaround and just describing what the screen shows, at the same time leaving gootecks minimal room to add to what everybody can see.
It's especially annoying, seeing as Xian has done excellent casting at other events and Mike Ross does a great show with gootecks reguarly.

Yeah I'm not a fan of the girls in the show either, I don't really see what they add to it. I guess I could see it if they made it more "game showy" but the intended effect is just too overt. There's a difference between the "elegant and beautiful" style of female eye candy, like Vanna White or the Deal or No Deal girls, and the obviously trashy, slutty look that ESGN presents.

I don't think someone without a vast knowledge of the game should cast a game where a round lasts normaly less then 60 seconds. You can ask your silly questions in a grindy 30 minutes game when there is plenty of no action but in a fast paced game it seems off.
The production value of FGN is high but that doesn't mean a thing if it's garbage. The wheel is cringe worthy but whatever, the cuts are debatable but I won't watch another one because of the girls. If it wants to be that kind of a show fine be that way but i won't support it.
Also to whiteknight ultradavid, he didn't stop watching after the cat call whistle he didn't even watch it live.
and he spoke out against the schoolgirl dressup before

Anyone know the Season 2 cast? Alioune, Luffy, Chi-Rithy, KBrad, who else?

Am I the only one who's surprised at how poorly (imo) Tasteless' casting as been thus far? Maybe I'm being too critical here, but I'm more shocked considering out of any non-FGC commentator I'd imagine who could easily commentate an FGC (and in the process bridge the gap for non FGC viewers), Tasteless would of been at the top of my list.
Regularly plays SF4 in Korea, and has some knowledge of older games being associated with Clockwork (or was that his brother?).
Than again, being a fan of the game and playing it doesn't automatically make you good at commentating it.
Still much love to him. Gootecks is doing a great job of covering for him/backing him up.

Mike Ross/Gootecks casting.
As for the editing of the whistle and cat girls; We got it jotted down and relay it. I don't know if they are using girls this season; but its been heavily emphasized not to.

Thanks for doing what you can! I look forward to season 2
(also whoever thought cat calls were a good idea needs a reality check. cat calling is unacceptable no matter the context)

We had Tex Avery as a consultant, he's been fired now [if you don't get the joke, no worries!]

Don't do that again.
Women are being objectified all over the place constantly (TV, ads, music, movies etc.), and it's being done with a straight face. Getting offended over an instance where it's so corny I'm practically getting out the butter seems knee-jerkish imo.
