Couldn't someone just hypothetically corner you and burn two bars for an almost guaranteed crumple? You can still throw them or use an armor breaker, but yeah it will probably be a good tool in the corner.

From my own perspective (Oni) it sounds exciting as a new pressure option and a great use of meter, which I tend to have lots of. But I'm sure a LOT of people feel the same, and it'll be really interesting to see how it unfolds. I've been saying repeatedly I'm not going to whine or anything until I see some test stuff and/or it's actually released lol. I'm just REALLY interested and excited to see some good players utilize these new mechanics. Edit: Here's an example of the Fei pressure I was talking about. He uses it in the first round a few times (e.g. the second focus in the first round he had two meters, with red focus he could have made it a free unblockable unscaled crumple). And if you really want to see it's power for pressure, go to around 2:30. His lvl 2 focus charges so fast, PR Rog is PERFECT on the timing, and the range is sick. With red focus and two meters, any of those could be a free unblockable opener, that's REALLY hard to react to. So sick.

Yeah lol, but the idea of a multi-hit absorbing, lvl 2 crumple unblockable for 2 meters (which I seem to have often) sounds nice. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure EVERYONE else is thinking the same thing, and it's probably WAY better for them than it is for me, but still, more options lol

Not the mashy kind of ryu, but when played a least decently, his damage and comeback potential are insane. I can feel so scared when trying to finish one off with low health.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2013/nov/17/proximity-blocking-option-selects-punish-whiffs-and-more-super-street-fighter-4-arcade-edition-v2012/ If you OS a move while whiffing a normal, the move will come out only if your opponent is whiffing a normal close enough that you would enter auto block. Imo the implications are immense and I can't wait to try this out with Gouken.

Learning more "difficult" characters when you're new is fine, as long as you don't develop bad habits. Akuma's a great example actually. Most people say that he's tough for newcomers because he has low HP, and while that's true, he also has some things that can develop bad habits. Most notably, air fireballs. I remember when I was new I liked the character and I played him quite a bit, but the way I played him then was totally different than how I'd play him now. And also very wrong. Spamming air fireballs develops bad habits, and more importantly can be deceivingly effective when playing other new players too. So if you focus on fundamentals and watch/mirror good players playing the character you want to learn, instead of doing strange things that seem to work well, you should be just fine. Just my two cents. I've played Oni since very early on, and while I play differently now (my execution has improved a lot), you can definitely still do it.

People advice for Ryu because he's the balance between the shotos and cover every aspect of the game. One thing that apply who ever you play, but would specially be true if you chose Akuma, play to learn, not to win. It's very easy to play to win with a character like Akuma and that will bite you in the ass later.

From my very noob and superficial point of view about SF4, I feel like the game is one of the greatest of its genre, but on the other hand, I dislike how the game relies on rotating the directional pad / stick a lot. These rotation movements are more tiring, compared to games like Tekken which relies on hitting buttons in the correct rythm (this can be hard too, but the mechanical execution is simple). It forces you to buy an expensive arcade stick, as your ultra won't come out as easily with a keyboard or a standard playstation / xbox gamepad. This is why Tekken Revolution was ok on the PSP while SF3 Alpha 3 Max wasn't. For someone like me who don't want to invest in a stick and can't train a lot, this is a bit a pity. Now don't get it wrong, I'm still enjoying the game ![]()
